Chapter 03 - Feral Wolf Squad

Chapter 3 - Feral Wolf Squad

Tang Chu was very skilled in walking down the hill; he was treading these steep mountains like he was walking on a flat piece of land. While walking down the mountain, Tang Chu was carefully watching the lush green plants on either side of the road. He mainly came to the mountains to pick herbs, so naturally, on the way back he would pay more attention. If by chance he came across some herbs it would be a pleasant surprise!

These actions had become habitual to Tang Chu. He had been picking herbs for a long time. He had made it his habit of looking for the existence of any herb every hour and every moment .

However, this was basically a futile effort. Tang Chu himself had no idea how many times he had walked past this road. Even if there were herbs, they had long been taken away, leaving only some useless plants!

After walking for a long time, even though Tang Chu hadn't picked any herbs, he didn't care too much about it. Today his harvest was rather good, it had already surpa.s.sed his initial estimate. As a naturally born optimist, he was already satisfied with today's harvest!

Similarly, Gu Hai too was freely walking on the mountain road. But he was also carefully watching the surrounding environment, not for the herbs but to understand how the plants in this world were different from earth.

Through his observation, Gu Hai found that the plants here were comparatively taller and stronger than that on Earth, the life force of the plants here were also more vigorous. Moreover, he would also occasionally see some small animals, and to his surprise, their size too was rather large.

Moreover, he clearly felt that the air here was particularly good. Although the majority of which could be credited to the plants here; but still the air could not even compare with where he formerly lived.

Gu Hai believed that if everyone lived in such an atmosphere, not only would everyone live longer, they would also remain in good health. Maybe this was the Spirit Qi that cultivators spoke of. Moreover, this world’s Spirit Qi was clearly much abundant, and was more suitable for cultivation!

"Roar!" A loud tiger roar suddenly broke the tranquility of the ravine. The source seemed to be in front of the two; in other words, the road in front was blocked by a tiger!

"There is a tiger in front of us!" Tang Chu suddenly became wary, but then again he said with a doubt, "No, how come there be a tiger on this road? Every time I came to pick herbs, I would always go down this road. I have already walked through here many times, but I have never met a tiger here before!"

Gu Hai slightly frowned. Though Tang Chu could not have known, Gu Hai had once studied the different kinds of tiger roars. From this tiger roar, Gu Hai could make out that this tiger was angry; someone or something must have angered it!

"Uncle Gu, how about we go back and take a different road." Tang Chu, after all, was still a teenager. Although he dared to come to the Black Fiend Mountain Range for herbs alone, that was because that was what life had forced upon him. Now that he met a tiger, Tang Chu’s first thought was naturally to avoid it, "I know of a path, and although it is somewhat steeper, it is safer than meeting a tiger!"

"Roar!" The tiger roar was once again heard. This time, the roar was louder and irascible. Gu Hai and Tang Chu very much understood that the tiger was getting closer to them, and obviously, the tiger seemed to be coming straight towards them.

Gu Hai’s complexion changed, he grabbed Tang Chu and leaped directly into the bushes before walking deeper into the mountains. After he arrived at a 20m tall tree, he started directly climbing it, and at the same time, signaling Tang Chu behind him to climb the tree along with him.

In the past, Gu Hai was already proficient in rock climbing, so climbing a tree naturally goes without saying. As for Tang Chu, he had grown up in the mountains, climbing the trees came to him as naturally as eating. Tang Chu climbed up even faster than Gu Hai.

Both of them quickly climbed to almost the top of the tree. Normally speaking, a tiger could not climb a tree. Besides the difference in their size, the tigers here were also no different from earth, so Gu Hai also didn’t believe it was capable of crawling up to such height.

Gu Hai stood on the thick branch, both eyes intently looking towards the front of the mountain road. Soon, a giant tiger with lifted eyes and a white forehead[1] madly rus.h.i.+ng on the mountain road came into his vision. The giant tiger was about 4m long and 5m tall, and compared with the tigers previously seen by Gu Hai, this tiger was way too big!

At the abdomen of the giant tiger there were also two long and narrow cuts. Gu Hai was having a difficult time imagining, how such a giant tiger got hurt by cold weapons. Wasn't this a giant tiger with lifted eyes and a white forehead?

But Gu Hai also immediately came to realize, this was after all a world of cultivation, so the limit of human capabilities was unthinkable. Not to mention killing a tiger, even more, unimaginable things could also be accomplished!

The ferocious giant tiger bolted out in fury, and less than 10m away from it, were five humans who seemed to be chasing the giant tiger. All five of them were dressed in black robes and carried a broadsword with a wolf head on its hilt. The five were madly rus.h.i.+ng on the mountain road as if this steep mountain was simply nothing to them. Besides, they were extremely fast and were closely following the giant tiger.

Obviously, these five men were the cause of the abdominal wounds on the giant tiger and the five by no means were some ordinary people. They had a certain degree of cultivation, but it was just the Houtian Stage, nothing more. If they were at the Xiantian Stage, they would be able to kill this giant tiger in the blink of an eye. What's more, these five men seemed to have nearly succeeded in hunting that giant tiger!

"Quickly, brothers, my two blades are still inside this tiger! Let’s kill it quickly, the tiger is heavily injured, it can’t run far away!" The leading fellow among the five men loudly shouted, "We have to skin its leather and deliver it to the Fort Lord as a gift!"

"What Elder Brother said is good, we will kill it and make clothes with its leather!" The rest of the following four men agreed.

Due to the injuries. the giant tiger was gradually slowing down. The five people seized this opportunity, sped up and closely surrounded the giant tiger before five broadswords moved towards the giant tiger at the same time!

"Roar!" The giant tiger was furious. It hurled its body towards one of the attackers. The recipient of the attack, instead of drawing back, planned on resisting head-on as the broadsword in his hand steadily hacked towards the giant tiger head.

"Bang"

The broadsword in that fellow’s hand ruthlessly landed upon the giant tiger's head, "Roar!" the giant tiger furiously roared, and in the blink of an eye, a huge wound appeared on its head. Red blood continued to flow from inside the wound, but the giant tiger did not stop, it continued to rush towards the attacker. That attacker, due to the huge impact, flew out, and fell in the dense plants on the other side of the mountain road.

This all happened in a split-second, giving no time for the remaining four to react; they could only look at their partner flying away. Immediately they brandished their broadswords and attacked the giant tiger!

The giant tiger was seriously injured, it had no strength left. It seemed to have realized that it was not going to live, but the giant tiger didn't plan on escaping. In fact, in the current state, fleeing was useless as sooner or later it would be surrounded!

The giant tiger turned around and continued to pounce towards the other four men. While the four men also clasped their blades tightly in response. No matter how the giant tiger fought, it was already a forgone conclusion. It was simply a slaughter!

Soon, the giant tiger’s body was laden with wounds as it weakly fell on the ground before the twilight in its eyes gradually vanished.

The fellow who flew away previously also came out. If it was an ordinary person who had been hit by such a giant tiger, he would, if not killed, be seriously wounded, but this fellow only suffered minor injuries which simply did not have much of an effect on him!

"Ha ha, Elder Brother, Fort Lord’s birthday is coming soon. This time, the gift had already fallen right into our Feral Wolf Squad’s lap!" One man said while laughing, "This time we'll be able to s.h.i.+ne in the fort!"

"Ha ha ha, Who is going to stop us?" Elder Brother, the leader of the squad, was similarly very excited. After all, such a large tiger skin was very rare, during the Fort Lord’s birthday it was sufficient enough to be applauded. This matter was extremely related to their reputation.

"Ah! They are the Black Wind Camp Feral Wolf Squad." Tang Chu shouted in a low voice, he could not help but blurt out.

Gu Hai heart sank, he didn't know whether or not the Feral Wolf Squad heard him. But if they were to found out, it was definitely going to be a problem!

"Who's there?! Come out!" The Feral Wolf Squad boss was startled. He felt as if someone was here, peeping at them.

"Who’s there?! Is someone is watching us?!" There was a fine line of a difference between the cultivation of the rest of the four men and their boss, and now when they heard their boss’ voice, they also understood that there was someone out there!

"Uncle Gu, I'm sorry!" Tang Chu apologized in a low voice, he also understood that he should not have done that!

"It does not matter, Uncle Gu will be able to solve it!" Gu Hai gently said. Even though they had been found out, Gu Hai did not worry about it. He very quickly restored his calmness. Though it was going to be troublesome, Gu Hai was very sure he could deal with this because compared with the giant tiger who only depended on instincts, Gu Hai was more than willing to deal with the human who could think; even though the humans had the ability to think which allowed them to be at the top of everyone, it was also their weak point!

[1] Lifted eyes depict the ferociousness of tiger. It is believed if the corner of the eyes is lifted then it is fierce. Basically, it is the normal wild tiger.]
