Chapter 400: Chapter 400 Shadow

Chu Yunsheng knitted his brows and converged his energy into his hands. He then patted out the fire on the back of his trousers.

Having clothes burned during battle happened fairly often. Especially, to those people who had awakened their fire energy ability.

That was the reason why there was so much demand for the combat suit in Shu Du City. Not only would it protect people by providing some additional energy resistance, but it would also provide them with some physical protection as well.

Chu Yunsheng was extremely anxious. But it was not because of the officers in the hall.

He tried his best to pretend that he was just one of the guests that had accidentally come into the mansion. He just casually walked along the edges of the hall until he reached the stairs.

He then quickly went upstairs and headed towards the location of the map.

Just when he was about to reach the end of the corridor and take a turn, he suddenly heard a creaking sound of someone opening a door.

What he saw was an officer’s back, and the officer was walking towards another staircase on the other side of the building.

‘That officer has the map!!!’

He turned around to look at his back to check if anyone was following him.

But just when he was about to come out, the officer suddenly stopped.

One second, two seconds, three seconds…

The officer just stopped there and didn’t do anything.

Seeing the officer speed up, Chu Yunsheng quickly came out of the corner and began to chase him.

However, the officer speeded up once more. He quickly went down the stairs and disappeared into the crowd of officers who were all wearing the same dress.

“s.h.i.+t!” Chu Yunsheng cursed. He almost found out who the officer was.

But in the next second, he suddenly thought of something that made his heart sink. ‘The officer probably also detected the connection between the map and the book. He was hiding from me! But why? Who is he?’

Chu Yunsheng was trying to think of a possible reason. However, he couldn’t think of any.

‘What should I do?’

Looking at many officers in the hall, Chu Yunsheng gave up the idea of trying to find the person one by one.

‘Wait, he just came out of a room! There might be someone else in there.’ Chu Yunsheng knitted his brows and thought.

He immediately turned around and walked back. On the way back, he noticed that there was a bathroom not too far from him.

He quickly went into the bathroom, went into one of the stalls and locked it. He then took out a new set of clothes, a new hat to cover his white hair, and the mask that he had prepared yesterday from the talisman.

After he put them on, he unlocked the door and came out of the stall.

However, what he saw next startled him. There was an old man outside the stall dressed in a cleaner’s uniform. It seemed like he was waiting for the person inside the stall to come out.

‘When did this old man come into the bathroom? Why didn’t I hear anything earlier?’ Chu Yunsheng frowned and thought. He was sure that when he came into the bathroom there was no one else in the bathroom or the corridor.

“Sir, you didn’t flush.” The old man said to Chu Yunsheng.

Chu Yunsheng’s brows were pressed together even closer. He didn’t even use the toilet earlier. But he still went back in and pressed the flush b.u.t.ton.

The old man then slowly cleaned the bucket and left from the bathroom. This whole ordeal confused Chu Yunsheng a lot.

‘Am I thinking too much?’ Chu Yunsheng thought.

Chu Yunsheng washed his hands and waited for a few seconds, then came out of the bathroom.

He glanced around and noticed that the old man had already left. So he walked towards the door of the room that the officer had come out from and gently knocked two times.

“Come in!” It was a woman’s voice.

Chu Yunsheng purposely opened the door slowly, so he would have enough time to find out how many people were in the room before anyone noticed that he ‘walked’ into the wrong room.

“Who are you!” Suddenly a person appeared behind the door and said coldly when the door was not even fully opened.

“Me?” Chu Yunsheng was startled again. But he quickly calmed down and glanced around.

‘No one else?’ Chu Yunsheng thought.

Only after he glanced around the room did he finally look at the girl in front of him. It was the birthday girl Tang Yi.

“Sorry, wrong room.” Chu Yunsheng used the excuse that he had prepared earlier and walked into the room while slowly closed the door behind him.

His actions and his words were completely different! Saying that it was the wrong room, but he still entered the room and even closed the door.

His lie was very obvious.

But Tang Yi didn’t seem to be scared. Her face was filled with mocking smiles. “Since Chen Haotian, the most powerful man in Shu Du city died, you are the first person who dares to enter the Dark Studio’s place without permissions.”

Originally, Chu Yunsheng planned to restrain the girl and cover her mouth to prevent her from calling for help. But it didn’t seem to be necessary now. The girl was even calmer than him.

“You think I will tell you?” Tang Yi turned around and walked towards the sofa in the center of the room.

“Get out! I won’t tell you anything.”

“I think you will!” Chu Yunsheng took out a spear, stabbed it into the table in front of the girl and said coldly.

Tang Yi was dazed for a second. She was surprised that someone would dare threaten her like this. “You want to kill me with this? I don’t care who sent you here, get out of this room before I get angry. I don’t want to get involved in any one of your businesses. So stop coming to me and asking me questions. Today is my birthday, I don’t want them to kill anyone.”

“I’m sorry, it is not up to you to decide. Just one question. After that, I’ll never come back again. But if you don’t want to answer my question. I can guarantee that you will see Chen Haotian before me.” Chu Yunsheng walked towards her and said.

Tang Yi raised her head and also said coldly. “I can also tell you that I don’t know anything about the ‘silhouette’ you all are talking about. You can go back and tell the person who sent you here that there is no point in trying to use different methods to get the words out of my mouth. If you all are really that competent, why don’t you go after my father or the uncle who is in charge of the lab? I am not your tool.”
