Chapter 40 – His Current Status

“Xiao Yun, where have you been for the past 2 months?” When Xiao Cheng saw how calm Xiao Yun looked with the 2 cute Violet Foxes on his shoulders, rage appeared in his eyes. He coldly harrumphed, “Alright, so everyone’s been incredibly worried about you offending Fang Hao, and yet you’ve been out playing and catching pets?”

The other youths were also unimpressed. “Hmph, he’s just a piece of trash. Why the heck does the old patriarch keep protecting him?”

Xiao Yun looked at the crowd as he gave a calm smile, and continued walking away. In his eyes, these people were far too naïve and immature.

“Xiao Yun, what’s with your att.i.tude?” Xiao Yun’s eyes glinted as he blocked the way in front of Xiao Yun.

Xiao Yun stopped walking as he retorted in a cold voice, “Are you provoking me?”

“So what if I am?” A furious expression appeared on Xiao Cheng’s eyes. “Grandpa protects you but I won’t. I want you to know that you can’t just do as you want – you’ve caused disaster for the whole family, and yet you’ve gone to hide by yourself. You need to be taught a lesson.”

“You want to teach me a lesson?” A cold smile appeared on Xiao Yun’s face. “I’m afraid you don’t have the right to.”

These years, Xiao Cheng had mocked him relentlessly. Back then, Xiao Li had only dared to attack Xiao Yun because he had Xiao Cheng supporting him. Now that Xiao Yun had stepped into the Innate realm, and held higher standards, he didn’t want to argue with these frogs in wells.

However, since they were adamant on provoking him, he couldn’t help but frown. It seemed that if he didn’t show his might and teach these people a lesson, they wouldn’t give up!

Xiao Cheng coldly harrumphed, “I have this right as your older cousin. I heard that you stepped into the Seventh Layer of Body Tempering. Now that 2 months have pa.s.sed, I want to see how much you’ve progressed for you to dare to stand up to me. Take my attack!”

As he coldly spoke, Xiao Cheng’s eyes flashed as he gripped his hands into fists and smashed them towards Xiao Yun.

Whoos.h.!.+

This fist was like a heavy hammer smas.h.i.+ng towards Xiao Yun, breaking through the air and causing the air to tremble. Xiao Cheng’s fist brought with it an incredibly powerful wave of force, causing the youths nearby to retreat.

“What powerful internal force.”

“Big brother Xiao Cheng has indeed stepped into the Ninth Layer of Body Tempering.”

“The Ninth Layer of Body Tempering is so strong; let’s see how Xiao Yun blocks this.” The eyes of the youths shone as they smirked and looked at Xiao Yun in amus.e.m.e.nt. They were certain that he was going to lose.

“Haha, Xiao Yun, you’d better bring out all of your strength. I’ve already stepped into the Ninth Layer of Body Tempering.” After punching out, Xiao Cheng started to wildly laugh. After all, he was already considered an expert within his generation.

“Your strength is insignificant.” Xiao Yun remained calm and didn’t even frown as he faced that berserk punch. In his eyes, that punch was extremely slow, and he was able to see the trajectory perfectly. Even the ripples that the punch created in the air were seen clearly by Xiao Yun.

Xiao Yun’s spirit energy was now extremely powerful, as were his senses, to the point that he could see even the finest details. He could even see the slight changes in the flow of the air. As such, when Xiao Cheng punched out, he didn’t even move.

“This brat hasn’t even tried to retaliate.”

“Isn’t he planning to dodge?”

“Has Xiao Yun been scared witless?” The other youths felt strange, and they all thought that Xiao Yun was unable to move because of how scared he was. Otherwise, why would he just stand there?

In the distance, some of the youths who were still training looked over. All of them felt incredibly curious when they saw this scene. None of them thought that Xiao Yun could stand up to Xiao Cheng, and they were all sure that he had been scared out of his mind – after all, Xiao Yun had only stepped into the Seventh Layer of Body Tempering 2 months ago. No one thought that he would be able to break through again after he had just had a break through after 8 years.

Just as the discussions intensified, the punch was less than 30 centimetres away. However, Xiao Yun suddenly moved.

Whoos.h.!.+

Xiao Yun casually grabbed the fist with his right hand.

“Is he trying to grab young master Xiao Cheng’s fist?” The crowd was dumbfounded.

Trying to grab the fist of a cultivator at the Ninth Layer of Body Tempering – wasn’t that seeking death? A punch from a cultivator at the Ninth Layer of Body Tempering could crush boulders, and could even instantly kill demonic beasts with tough defences. How could Xiao Yun survive this strike?

As everyone watched on coldly and wanted to mock Xiao Yun, their pupils suddenly contracted.

Whoos.h.!.+

Xiao Yun’s hand descended like an eagle’s claws and locked onto Xiao Cheng’s fist.  It was bursting with energy, which made it impossible for it to travel any further. What was even more shocking was that the rest of Xiao Yun’s body didn’t move at all.

What was going on? All of the onlookers were flabbergasted. Logically speaking, that punch should have sent Xiao Yun flying at least 10 metres!

However, why was Xiao Yun still standing there as solid as a boulder? The spectators looked at each other, thinking that there was something wrong with their eyes. However, when they looked back, they found that the shocking scene was reality.

Xiao Cheng was the most shocked. He felt like his fist had been trapped by an iron hoop, and was not able to move it at all.

What’s going on?” Waves of shock crashed within Xiao Cheng’s heart. The force behind his punch was immense; how could the youth in front of him casually grab his hand? He needed to be at least in the Innate realm to do such a thing.

Could it be that he’s stepped into the Innate realm?” By now, Xiao Cheng had started to panic.

At this moment, Xiao Yun calmly smiled, “You want to teach me a lesson with such meagre strength?”

After saying this, Xiao Yun’s eyes glinted as he kicked out and sent Xiao Cheng flying. Xiao Cheng felt as if he had been kicked by his iron foot, and his bones were nearly crushed as he fell to the ground.

“Heavens! Young master Xiao Cheng’s someone who is at the Ninth Layer of Body Tempering!”

“How can this be possible? Young master Xiao Cheng’s at the Ninth Layer of Body Tempering!”

Seeing this, the youths within the Martial Arts Grounds all exclaimed in shock.

Someone asked, “Could it be that Xiao Yun has broken through to the Innate realm?”

“Innate realm?” When they heard this, the Martial Arts Ground burst into a frenzy as many people deeply breathed in.

Following this, countless fiery gazes fell on Xiao Yun’s body.

From the beginning, the youth had seemed extremely calm, as if dealing with Xiao Cheng wouldn’t take much effort. On the youth’s shoulders, the pair of Violet Foxes mewed, seeming incredibly scared.

“Shh, it’s okay.” Xiao Yun stroked the 2 Violet Foxes as he looked at them with a gentle gaze, completely ignoring everyone else in the Martial Arts Grounds. This caused the spectators to feel quite surprised; Xiao Yun seemed like a profound mystery.

When they saw how calm Xiao Yun looked, some people began to wonder, “Could it be that young master Xiao Yun has truly stepped into the Innate realm?”

After calming down the 2 Violet Foxes, he started to walk away. As Xiao Yun walked over, the youths that were accompanying Xiao Cheng hurriedly retreated with a fearful look in their eyes. For some reason, they felt a trace of danger underneath the youth’s calm expression.

When Xiao Yun walked past them, he didn’t even give them another look.

Xiao Cheng was still curled up on the ground in immense pain. When the youth didn’t even look at him, he felt extremely resigned to be ignored. He raised his head as he asked, “Have you stepped into the Innate realm?”

“I said that I wouldn’t be trash forever.” Xiao Yun stopped walking as he looked back at the youth on the ground. “There’s an old saying: it’s better to bully an old man than a poor boy, for you never know what they’ll become. I suggest you change your ignorant and narrow-minded ways.”

A look of disbelief appeared on Xiao Cheng’s face. “You’ve truly stepped into the Innate realm?”

“Consider that me teaching you a lesson,” Xiao Yun calmly replied as he left the Martial Arts Grounds.

Seeing the youth leave, everyone was completely dumbfounded.

The people wondered, “What did young master Xiao Yun mean by that? Could he really have stepped into the Innate realm?” Although Xiao Yun hadn’t directly answered the question, his words were quite clear.

I said that I wouldn’t be trash forever.

Could he really have regained his talent? Did he really step into the Innate realm?

The people looked at each other, in silent agreement that it was definitely a possibility. If this wasn’t so, how could he have easily defeated Xiao Cheng, who was at the Ninth Layer of Body Tempering?

“Big brother Xiao Cheng, are you alright?”

The youths started to ask Xiao Cheng as they walked over, “Big brother Xiao Cheng, did that Xiao Yun truly step into the Innate realm?”

“It might be true.” Xiao Cheng endured the pain and stood up as he looked at the youth’s figure in the distance. He never thought that he wouldn’t be able to take even a single hit – was this really that Xiao Yun?

When he remembered how condescendingly he had treated the youth in the past, he felt a wave of bitterness in his heart. If Xiao Yun was trash, he was simply slag.

“Young master Xiao Yun has truly stepped into the Innate realm?”

“How’s that possible?”

“He broke through to the Innate realm from the Seventh Layer of Body Tempering in just 2 months; is he even human?”

Everyone else cried out and felt incredibly shocked when they saw Xiao Cheng like this. It had to be known that normally, it took people a whole year to break through after reaching the Sixth Layer of Body Tempering!

Under this shock, the news that Xiao Yun had easily defeated Xiao Cheng spread like a plague. In just an instant, almost the entire family knew, which caused countless discussions and sent the entire residence into a frenzy.

“What? Xiao Yun beat Xiao Cheng? Could he have broken through to the Innate realm?”

“Of course. How else could he have beaten young master Xiao Cheng so easily?”

“Haha, Xiao Yun’s stepped into the Innate realm. If his talent has returned, we won’t have to fear that Fang family anymore.”

“Immediately lock down this information so the Fang family won’t find out about it.”

“That’s right, we can’t let them know about this. If anyone dares to spread this information, they’ll be crippled!” The elders immediately made a decision. If Xiao Yun had regained his talent, this was something that concerned the survival of their entire Xiao family!

By now, Xiao Yun had hurriedly entered Xiao Ling’Er’s room. This was because Ling’Er’s Chilling Qi had once again broken out, and even the fire-type medicines were unable to suppress it. The Chilling Qi was now much more powerful than 2 months ago, and only after Xiao Yun’s Martial Spirit activated did it recede.

However, under the a.s.sault from the Chilling Qi, a hint of frost appeared between Xiao Yun’s eyebrows. Luckily his Martial Spirit had been upgraded not too long ago, and he had fused with the Violet Flame Martial Spirit; he had much greater resistance against the Chilling Qi.

If it were 2 months ago, Xiao Yun definitely wouldn’t have been able to endure such intense Chilling Qi.
