Chapter 66: s.h.i.+ny Things

Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio

Fina could care less about the two cranky men. She glanced at them as they walked in and didn’t look at them again. She would ignore their presence as long as they were not here to steal cats. In her eyes, humans were born to serve cats and everyone in this world should be her servant.

She used to own countless treasures and jewelry. In most cases, small rings were not even up to her standards. The only thing that fascinated her was the bright, s.h.i.+ny stone mounted on the ring—the diamond. It was so pure and clear, yet flashed a dazzling brilliance. The radiance could drastically vary when looking from a slightly different angle.

Fina soon solved the mystery: the wonderful, luminous lights came from the extraordinary cut. Even in the great era she used to live in, the most experienced craftsmen could not have made such a great piece of art. Every ray which came off the diamond was so straight, every edge was extremely smooth and every angle was very sharp.

Although magnificent, she could also tell where the flaws lay. The rays were straight, yet some were shorter than others. The edges were smooth but the size of the edges were not exactly the same. The angles were sharp, however, the degree of the angles all varied. Those flaws were super tiny. If it wasn’t for the fact that she had owned numerous valuables before, she would not have been able to find the flaws right off the bat; instead, she might fall for its dazzles.

When this diamond went through the cutting and grinding process, for some reason, there was a symmetry problem. There would be three reasons for that to occur: the artisan’s ability had reached its limit, the equipment had gone past its peak performance, or the stone wasn’t a perfect piece.

It wasn’t difficult to figure out that all three contributed to the imperfection. Looking around the shabby pet store, she noticed it was very narrow. The whole store might be just as big as her bathroom in the heaven palace where she used to live. The ceiling was so low that people would worry about hitting their heads if they jumped. This was only a normal person’s residence. How could the owner of such a place obtain a top-notch diamond? A normal diamond would not deserve the use of the best instruments for processing, nor would it be able to attract the most elite craftsmen to work on it.

In fact, it wasn’t Fina’s first time seeing a diamond.

She had seen diamonds as early as the era she came from. However, diamonds were not called diamonds back then. They were called Adamas in Greek and they were in the form of original ore.

In that era, diamonds were famous for their hardness and they were useless for anything else. As a precious gem, the potential of diamonds had not been discovered yet because there wasn’t any equipment to process them. Even wrought iron or bronze was more favorable than diamonds at the time. Without going through the fine cutting process, the charm of diamonds would be hidden forever in the original stone and would never s.h.i.+ne in the world.

This so-called rare treasure is a combined result of the precious gem crafted by a world-cla.s.s artisan using the most sophisticated instruments. Only when all three key elements were in place could a masterpiece be born.

Fina once possessed countless treasures. She got them from wars, pillaging, and dedications from other tribes.

When a king gives a normal person a precious prize, the prize might only be one of the treasures the King possesses; however, when a normal person gives you a valuable piece, it might be all he owns.

So, she accepted his gift.

Fina loved s.h.i.+ny things.

She hadn’t told him that the so-called "s.h.i.+ny things" not only referred to treasures, but also included faith, courage, wisdom, honesty, friends.h.i.+p, romance, and so forth. All the beautiful matters in the world would be these s.h.i.+ny things she so loved.

She was Fina Paris XIII, guardian of the immortal kingdom. She could care less about explaining her thoughts to the normal people.

Just let the misunderstanding continue.

w.a.n.g Qian and Li Kun cried like babies holding Zhang Zian’s thigh.

A man does not easily shed tears unless his heart is truly broken. Now that they found out a cat was treated better than they were, their hearts were completely shattered.

Zhang Zian wasn’t touched at all. He pushed them away, one from each side.

"What the h.e.l.l! I just changed into clean pants this morning. My pants are not for wiping your runny noses! Are you guys skipping cla.s.s?" He looked at them, speechless.

w.a.n.g Qian wiped away his tears.

Li Qian cleared his nose with his hand. As he was about to to throw the mucus on the ground, he noticed the cold eyes of the golden cat. He lightly patted on w.a.n.g Qian’s back and secretly wiped his hand off on w.a.n.g Qian’s s.h.i.+rt.

"Of course not, master. It is your order that we could not skip cla.s.s. We dare not defy your command!" w.a.n.g Qian defended quickly.

Li Kun was smarter. He pulled out his cell phone with the hand that just wiped off his mucus, found the cla.s.s schedule from a whole bunch of files and respectfully showed it to Zhang Zian.

"Master, please look. We do not have cla.s.s today," Li Qun told him. As he spoke, he figured he wasn’t correct. If there wasn’t cla.s.s, where had they gone to this morning?

Zhang Zian looked really quick and said, "Are you awake? Look at the schedule yourself. That is the schedule for the first semester. Now it is already the second semester."

Li Qun was nervous. He started sweating, swiping his phone rapidly trying to find the schedule from his photo folder.

However, there were too many pictures in the photo folder. He could not find it after a long while. As a b.u.mping mahatma, he had to save a great amount of Bao Zou Comics to fight with pictures against other people. That’s why he acc.u.mulated more and more comic pictures, which occupied the s.p.a.ce for normal files… Of course, this was not Li Qun’s fault. It was the comic authors who created tens of thousands of comics that took away Li Qun’s storage s.p.a.ce.

It was weird. He could easily find any specific Bao Zou Comic picture for his comic picture fight. It was an intense fight every time. How come the mere cla.s.s schedule disappeared?

In the end, w.a.n.g Qian found the schedule. w.a.n.g Qian was a much more straightforward person, so the way he resolved problems was also straightforward. He downloaded a new one from the cla.s.s’s BBS.

"Master, please take a look. We only had one big cla.s.s this morning. We came after cla.s.s!" w.a.n.g Qian handed over his cell phone as if he was handing over a gem.

Zhang Zian had a quick look. It was true. They had one cla.s.s in the morning and now they were off. "So how can you prove that you went to the early cla.s.s and didn’t sleep in?"

"It is absolutely impossible," w.a.n.g Qian said affirmatively. "If we were to sleep in, we would be still in bed right now."

Zhang Zian was again speechless. He just wanted to slap them in the face when he saw them take this comfortable life for granted. Poor Zhang Zian had to get up early in the morning to clean cat litter and dog feces, groom the dogs and wipe the cats’ faces when w.a.n.g and Li were still deeply in their dreams. How was it fair to anyone that worked hard?

The most critical thing was that Zhang Zian had also experienced that period in life. Now when he thought back, he regretted it from the bottom of his heart. Why did he spend the greatest time of life sleeping instead of chasing girls? That was the biggest reason why he was still a d.a.m.n single to this day...
