Chapter 50       Arrival of the Cataclysm

The feeling of dying was like a nightmare during midnight, slowly approaching, yet unblockable. Everything in front of Zhou Qingfeng seemed to have slowed down. His absolutely lethal counterattack continued, but somehow, he failed to keep up with the beat.

Zhou Qingfeng was exhausted after using his ‘As Quick as Lightning’ ability three times in a row. Coupled with the explosions caused by the seven to eight flash grenades, he was strong for not pa.s.sing out. However, he could not do anything about his current state.

He was facing against four cops, two pistols, one shotgun, and one a.s.sault rifle. He would be thoroughly pulped if all the attacks were launched at once. Even a bulletproof vest would be rendered useless in such a situation.

The flame on the muzzle was clearly visible as its bullet hit the rock wall next to Zhou Qingfeng. He felt the pain after getting hit by the debris. Just a few more seconds, and he would be…

Whoosh… Both the bullets and the cops had totally disappeared.

Zhou Qingfeng could still feel the pain in his chest. Both his hands could no longer lift the gun and he was still staring at his opponents with his crimson red eyes. There were originally four angry cops firing at him.

Zhou Qingfeng was still experiencing extreme pressure. The impact of being at the verge of death left him traumatized. He felt as if he was involved in the endless loop of death; all he did was to wait for the arrival of his very own death.

However, after waiting for quite a long period of time, the bullets were nowhere to be seen. Both the firing cops and his mortal outcome were nowhere to be seen.

Ha ha ha… All of a sudden, Zhou Qingfeng laughed hysterically. He laughed and coughed at the same time. To his surprise, he spurted out a mouthful of fresh blood. He then lowered his head and he saw three point nine caliber bullets embedded in his tactical vest.

The bullets penetrated through the magazine which hung on his tactical vest. They made contact with the fabric layer of his bulletproof vest, and were subsequently blocked by the ceramic bulletproof panels. Zhou Qingfeng could vaguely feel the warm blood dripping over his face. He checked off-handedly, and to his surprise, he managed to retrieve a tiny projectile fragment.

G.o.d d.a.m.n it, I must be one h.e.l.l of a lucky man!

Ha ha ha… This time around, Zhou Qingfeng laughed happily with peace of mind. He had managed to escape from the hands of the devil. His laughter echoed endlessly throughout the dome hall.

It wasn’t easy, but I’m still standing. I’m still breathing!

The ultimate cataclysm had finally arrived and the police force had completely disappeared. The bullets which were coming for his chest were blocked by the ceramic bulletproof panels. Although the force of penetration of the bullets had injured Zhou Qingfeng’s lungs and his face was bruised by the projectile fragments, he was not dead yet. He was still alive!

Zhou Qingfeng laughed in a crazy and beserk manner. He screamed and shouted loudly in the Memorial Hall all by himself. After he finished venting, he happily loosened the USP45 magazine and reloaded it. He then stepped on General Grant’s coffin and leaped out from the pit.

The heavy-duty anti-riot s.h.i.+eld still lingered in the hall, but the police force that hid behind it had disappeared along with their personal belongings. The special forces unit members who originally attacked Zhou Qingfeng from the dome skylight had also disappeared from sight. However, the corpses of the dead police members were still lying around.

Zhou Qingfeng replenished his weapons. He salvaged the weapons that were still functioning around him and packed everything into his weapon backpack. After the ultimate cataclysm, weapons would be used up as quickly as food would be consumed. Thus, there was no way that he would give up on those elite equipment of the New York SWAT team.

After walking out from General Grant National Memorial Hall with his weapons backpack, Zhou Qingfeng discovered that the cops outside the hall had all disappeared. Lena Fox was not within sight as well.

Nothing could be heard throughout the Riverside Park. It was empty and deserted; it was as if everyone had disappeared. The escaping reporters were the only group of people who were still moving around. They must be certainly petrified by the changes around them.

Ha ha ha… All hail the great and wonderful cataclysm! From now on, I shall rule them all. Now then….. let’s go get that robotic dog! I’ll kill anyone who stands in my way!

Zhou Qingfeng strode confidently as he marched forwards majestically. Although there were wounds all over his body, his fighting spirits still remained high. He was just fearless, as always!

After taking a few steps forwards, to his surprise, Zhou Qingfeng even found an NYPD’s mobile command vehicle parked outside the Memorial Hall.

Wonderful!

The vehicle had a thick armor, high horsepower, and large s.p.a.ce. It was also equipped with complete communication tools. The heavy-duty vehicle was hence deemed as the ultimate treasure of survival. Zhou Qingfeng quickly ran towards the car. He then ran a few laps around the vehicle. He praised the vehicle repeatedly, so much that he almost s...o...b..red.

The door of the command vehicle was wide open. A command module and various types of high-tech equipment could be seen once he entered the vehicle. In addition to the command module, there was also a lounge cabin that was designed specially for the senior police officers. There were beds and a variety of practical supplies inside the cabin.

A pot of coffee was still hot. Zhou Qingfeng poured himself a cup of coffee and he then drank it. The coffee, however, was so bitter that he almost vomited on the spot. It only started to taste better after he added a few sugar cubes as well as some milk into it.

I feel good. It’s so awesome to have a vehicle like this even though I’m in the midst of the cataclysm!

Zhou Qingfeng also found a cabinet inside the vehicle. In it were many weapons and ammunition. He deposited his own weapon backpack into it. He then went to the cab - he was ready to launch the high-end vehicle.

“The NYPD is really rich indeed!” Zhou Qingfeng tried to drive the vehicle. He instantly felt that the vehicle was at a completely different level compared to the rest. It was a fully electric-powered vehicle and it had strong horsepower. It could even be driven for more than a thousand kilometers after being fully-charged. It had a smart auto-pilot and it was easy to be maintained.

If this vehicle had any shortcoming, it would be that the weapons in this car are simply too weak. Furthermore, this vehicle couldn’t be used for ma.s.s storage of food and water. However, that’s fine. I can rob them now if I’m running low on resources! Now that there are no longer governments, police, or military forces existing in the world, I can do whatever I want!

Columbia University is my first priority now. Here I go!

Zhou Qingfeng was sitting in the driver’s seat. He launched the vehicle happily and set it to auto-pilot. He then connected it to the electronic map and he set its path to Columbia University which was only less than a kilometer away from him.

However, a shadow suddenly appeared when Zhou Qingfeng was about to leave. She blocked the road and said, “Victor, you’re still alive?”

“What’s going on?” Zhou Qingfeng was instantly surprised, like he had b.u.mped into a ghost. He put his head out of the car window and shouted, shocked, “Why didn’t you disappear, Lena Fox?”

The shadow that appeared moments ago was in fact, Miss Fox, the lady who insisted on following him. Zhou Qingfeng did not see her when he came out from the Memorial Hall. He had thought that as a member of the foundation, she would have disappeared too. He was surprised when she jumped out of nowhere.

Lena Fox was initially terrified. However, her facial expression changed immediately after hearing Zhou Qingfeng words, “What do you mean? Am I supposed to disappear?”
