Chapter 53       How Could It Be Him?

Even though Katrina Riven lost her legs during the war, biotechnology gave her a pair of extremely tough legs. Powerful, violent, agile and speedy were what she had been looking for.

An ordinary person who could run a hundred meters in thirteen seconds would already be considered fast. Top professional runners could only run a hundred meters in ten seconds for a short period. And it was only for a short period!

However, Katrina could maintain her speed in five seconds for a hundred meters for long periods of time. Her speed was equivalent to around seventy kilometers per hour. As it were her artificial muscles and t.i.tanium skeleton working, she did not feel any exhaustion at all.

The speed would be considered normal if it was a car. Yet if it involved a human, that speed would be crazy. Katrina had always been proud of her speed, yet today she was extremely embarra.s.sed.

Katrina met someone who could fight with her, someone who was more agile than her, and she was completely suppressed. The speed that she had always been proud of was not worth mentioning in the eyes of other people. They even consider her speed as unlucky.

This confident, tough lady missed her move and crashed into her opponent.

Even though Zhou Qingfeng’s whole body was enhanced, he still felt as if he was. .h.i.t by a train. He was rolling on floor due to the pain and his first reaction was to escape. Katrina felt like she was. .h.i.t on a cement wall. Although her legs were reinforced, her upper body remained ordinary.

This tough lady struggled to get up from the broken gla.s.s pieces, feeling as if her organs had moved from their original positions. Taking a deep breath was difficult and extremely uncomfortable. Dizziness plagued her, so she shook her head. After that, her first reaction was to ask, “Who are you?”

Zhou Qingfeng did not expect that crazy woman to be that tough, especially as he had forgotten that she liked to wear a full set of body armor. It would be a very heavy burden for other people to lug around, but not for her. In David Lawrence’s elite team, she and the violent guy Mox were often the ones tasked for upfront fights.

Zhou Qingfeng’s arm was dislocated, and his muscles felt numb. If he was not enhanced by the NTZ-49, his arm would definitely have been reduced into comminuted fractures, and became impossible to be healed.

“F*ck, she’s a crazy maniac! She saw the rifle in my hand, but she still rushed toward me. What if I really shot her?”

Zhou Qingfeng was also dumbfounded from the hit. His right arm was temporarily incapacitated, and as a result the SCAR rifle slipped from his slackened grip. Because he was afraid that Katrina would fire at him, he turned around and escaped as soon as it fell down.

However, Katrina was even more terrified as her body lost all its energy. Fright entered her as she saw how Zhou Qingfeng could still stand up, and she struggled to look for cover. As a result, both of them ran toward the two ends of the corridor. The mess in the middle of the corridor was the result of their collision.

Zhou Qingfeng held a USP45 in his left hand. He was breathing heavily while leaning against the gla.s.s wall. He pinched his swollen right arm, sensed nothing, and felt like crying.

What the h.e.l.l’s happening! I didn’t meet that b.a.s.t.a.r.d Tony Parker, but instead, I b.u.mped into Katrina Riven, someone who doesn’t follow the rules. Am I going to get stuck at the entrance of the security door to the lab?

At the entrance of the security door, a few of the bound guards were staring at Zhou Qingfeng. Their eyes were filled with sarcasm, ridicule and laughter, and were no doubt mocking him, Didn’t want to release us at first? Rushed ahead without us and refused to ask for backup? Now, do you know our pain? The woman inside was really fierce!

Meanwhile, Angie heard the noise and quickly came out. She saw Katrina sitting on the ground with a pale face, and she snapped worriedly, “Katrina, are you okay?!”

“Fall back, don’t come near me. We’re in trouble. Someone’s blocking us from leaving this place. Call your father immediately for help.” At that moment, Katrina finally realized that she should be calling for backup.

This tough lady did not want to follow the gangster Tony Parker to make trouble. She thought that this kind of laboratory would definitely be highly secured, so how was it possible to steal stuff from here? She was simply worried about Angie, and that was why she followed.

Tony Parker was truly lucky. By the time he entered the laboratory, all the police have already disappeared. He found that the whole laboratory in a mess, and without any complications, he broke into the laboratory with the two ladies.

Katrina thought that the situation was really weird; how could there be no one guarding such an important laboratory? Just those useless guards at the security door? Bulls.h.i.+t!

And then, the confident Zhou Qingfeng appeared!

And then… the two of them clashed!

And then… Katrina regretted it!

It’s obviously a trap!

Katrina even speculated, Was it the military court from the United Kingdom who set me up? Did they send this strong opponent to arrest me? She was actually still wanted by the UK Ministry of Defence.

Looking at Katrina’s shaking hand which was holding a gun, Angie began to panic. She was a good student in university. Even though she was sometimes rebellious, she can discern what was wrong from what was right. In committing a crime by breaking into a national confidential laboratory, even her father could not help them.

“We can’t call for help. The security levels of this lab are too high; it has a special electromagnetic s.h.i.+eld and my cell phone wouldn’t work,” Angie said, her face ashen.

The two ladies did not know what else to do. At the meantime, the funny, lucky Tony Parker came out happily while exclaiming, “This is my day! Angie hacked the last stage of the eye scan verification and I opened the door to DogMeat’s a.s.sembly room.

“Guess what I saw? A bunch of brains used for the experiments. Angie was right; the researchers in the lab were trying to fit other animals’ brains into DogMeat. I heard there were brains of orangutans, humans, artificial biological brains and all other weird sorts.”

“Hmmm…. Why do you guys look so pale? What happened?” Tony Parker was talking non-stop and he just realized that something was wrong. Katrina was sitting on the ground and leaning against the wall, while Angie looked panicked.

“I shouldn’t have listened to this jerk’s bulls.h.i.+t and come to this lab to steal a dog. We’re in big trouble now. Someone attacked us,” Katrina said with a very serious face, “The worse thing is, that guy is not that easy.”

“Really?” Tony Parker was naturally immune to any negative thoughts. He still laughed and said, “There’s a cop out there? Actually, I’ve always wanted to experience being jailed. Don’t worry, I got this.”

Tony Parker raised his hands, walked to the corridor, and yelled, “Hey! Mr police officer, I surrender! It was just a joke, I’m a good man.”

Good man, my a.s.s! At the other end of the corridor, Zhou Qingfeng heard this hippie’s voice and was p.i.s.sed off. He poked his head out, aimed at Tony Parker, and fired at him.

Bang…! He missed!

Zhou Qingfeng’s bad aim was even worse when he was using left hand. Tony Parker was shocked and screamed. He quickly turned around back to Katrina and cried out, “Gos.h.!.+ What’s wrong with cops nowadays? I’ve surrendered, yet he still fired.”

Katrina and Angie had no choice but to re-evaluate the situation. Meanwhile, a stream of curses came from the other end. “Tony Parker, get your a.s.s out. I said I wanted that robotic dog.”

Upon hearing this familiar voice, Angie and Katrina were shocked. “Victor Hugo, could it be him?”
