Chapter 89 - In the Helicopter

This was s.h.i.+ Lei’s first time looking down to the city of Wu Dong. 

s.h.i.+ Lei had never travelled on a plane before and he didn’t know what it felt like to look down to the ground from the sky in the place. But obviously, if he was in an ordinary plane, it was impossible for him to have a 360 degree view of the entire city. The airport was also far away from the residential area, so he would not have the chance to see the bright lights from the houses. 

The other opportunity he had was from standing on the tallest building in Wu Dong city. s.h.i.+ Lei had to thank Er’jie to see part of the Wu Dong city from that height. 

Qing Long mountain, which was the highest location in Wu Dong city, was also restrained by the angle of view. 

s.h.i.+ Lei and Sun Yiyi held each other’s hands tightly. Although the helicopter was not too high in the sky, only about 100m or so, but considering that they were at Qing Long mountain with a 400m alt.i.tude,  s.h.i.+ Lei was looking down to the entire city at 500m above in the sky. 

Qing Long mountain was located inside the city and the entire view of District LC was in s.h.i.+ Lei’s eyes. 

In that time, all the houses’ lights were turned on, especially in the few famous business districts and CBD, which made s.h.i.+ Lei feel a sense of superiority. 

Initially, Sun Yiyi was somewhat scared, but awhile later, she was conquered by the beauty of the lights below her. She stood next to s.h.i.+ Lei with a straight back and watched the majestic scenery with him. 

In the period of a few short minutes and under the pilot’s intentional control, s.h.i.+ Lei saw the entire Wu Dong city. 

The lights of the houses seemed like fireworks bursting under their feet. The roads, overpa.s.ses that surrounded the city, and the expressways that stretched out from the edges of the city, the lights on the side of them forming into dragons, stretching into the unknown.  

s.h.i.+ Lei wanted to look further, but he could see nothing but the stars in the distance and the street side lamps on the expressways that seemed to extend onwards infinitely. 

After they got off the plane, s.h.i.+ Lei felt extremely excited. The feeling that they could see as far as they wanted till they reach the limit was unforgettable for s.h.i.+ Lei and Sun Yiyi. 

s.h.i.+ Lei didn’t notice that he was shaking slightly until someone who came down after him patted him on the shoulder. Although the scenery was majestic, but the chilly wind at the height was also unbearable. Because of the scenery, s.h.i.+ Lei and Sun Yiyi both ignored it, but now that they had calmed down, both of them felt that their bodies were frozen. 

“It’s too cold up there, let’s hurry up and go inside!” Another group of people came down and greeted each other while rubbing their arms. 

Obviously, even if these wealthy youngsters haven’t had an experience like this before, but travelling by plane was a norm for them and they were not as curious as s.h.i.+ Lei. Some of the cities even had airports in the city, so when they descend, they would see similar sceneries and hence, they were not like s.h.i.+ Lei who was struck by amazement. 

Wei Qing also came over and walked alongside s.h.i.+ Lei. 

s.h.i.+ Lei asked: “Aren’t you going up?” 

Wei Qing smiled and said: “It’s merely the glory of the lights. It doesn’t affect me whether I look at it or not. Nights in every city has similar lights like this with small differences. Seeing that you are almost as cold as a popsicle, I don’t really want to go up anymore.” 

s.h.i.+ Lei fell silent. 

The majestic sceneries he saw was only because he hadn’t seen enough. To those people who had attended the party, almost all of them were at the top of the country. The seemingly luxurious and extravagant things in s.h.i.+ Lei’s perspective was nothing but a part of their daily lives. 

Just like this c.o.c.ktail party, and the cars before it. To s.h.i.+ Lei, even to Wu Haoyuan, it shocked them one after another. But to Wei Qing and the others, although it was not something they see everyday, but it was definitely not something they yearned with their heart. 

In the end, it was him who hadn’t seen enough and hence he was limited by it. After he had seen all the amazing sceneries, everything would return to its natural calmness.

Except, s.h.i.+ Lei didn’t know whether one day he would also be accustomed to standing on a steep peak. One day, perhaps, since he has the Black Card behind him. If the Black Card could provide s.h.i.+ Lei with a day of living as a millionaire, it may not necessarily mean that it could not help s.h.i.+ Lei to become a real millionaire like this. 

After he returned to the living room, s.h.i.+ Lei poured a gla.s.s of warm water for Sun Yiyi to warm her body up, and he also got some food for himself as he was a bit hungry. He could not deny that although the food there were extremely fancy, but it was not very filling. Luckily that Dai Qian just asked s.h.i.+ Lei if he wanted the kitchen to start preparing warm food, and s.h.i.+ Lei just learnt that there were going to be a few hot dishes for dinner. The person who organised this party also knew that those were expensive but not filling.  

Not long later, hot dishes came in, there were seafood and home made dishes. Although these food were also expensive and delicate, but compared to the cold dishes, they didn’t seem nearly as fancy. 

Everyone took this chance to fill the stomach. s.h.i.+ Lei discovered that Wu Haoyuan had disappeared from the corner which he had hid in before. 

As s.h.i.+ Lei scanned the room, he saw Wu Haoyuan enter the room from the back door, shaking like a wild dog. s.h.i.+ Lei smiled slightly and thought, so this guy also went on the helicopter to look at the peculiar scene. But no one should’ve went up with him, he must’ve felt bored and lonely on the helicopter by himself. 

After dinner, it was also the best time to drink Conti. When Dai Qian told him about it before, s.h.i.+ Lei didn’t understand as he only drank baijiu other than beers and it was a luxury to have some sort of western wine. How could he afford red wines like this? Naturally, he did not know about the procedures before drinking it. 

But under the continuous teaching of the Scepter, s.h.i.+ Lei had grown up quite a lot. At least he had learnt to hide his emotions when he heard words which he didn’t understand, and searched for the meaning of those words after the conversation was over. 

Although he researched about it and read different explanations, s.h.i.+ Lei still didn’t really understand too much about decanting the wine. The key point was that he could not recognise the difference prior decanting and after decanting either way, so much that s.h.i.+ Lei thought the Conti which cost a few 100,000 yuan would not taste any better than the Lafitte in his mouth. 

Dai Qian told s.h.i.+ Lei that the Conti had enough time in the decanter. s.h.i.+ Lei picked up a decanter with a smile and walked up the stairs once again. 

He held the wine decanter in his left hand and a chopstick in his right, hitting the vessel lightly. Clear rings of sound made everyone stop what they were doing and as s.h.i.+ Lei saw that they focused their attention on him, he dropped the chopstick in his hand, hugged the decanter with both hands and anxiousness crept on his face. 

“Conti, why are you still asleep? Wake up, hurry up and wake up!” 

s.h.i.+ Lei began to shake the decanter abruptly and the reddish purple liquid inside the vessel rocked back and forth. With s.h.i.+ Lei’s anxious expressions, everyone could not help but to laugh.  

After that, s.h.i.+ Lei put the decanter next to his ears and declared: “It said it’s awake now.” 

Naturally, everyone laughed once again.
