9 – The Prey’s Flight

In the middle of the night, a male ran into a dark alley

Sun Qi already doesn’t knows how long he ran – there are everywhere sounds of those monsters’ roars! Those that once were called humans have completely transformed, while humans became their food!

However, what truly scared Sun Qi, was the scene from just a moment ago.

The canines, blood and the pupils that made people tremble and loose the ability to stand …

That … man …

That man … was a monster, ah!

Sun Qi leaned against the empty alley to catch his breathe.

Sun Qi was aware of his own cowardice, the despair in his cla.s.smate’s gaze, whom he had promised to protect – he would forever remember it.

“Sorry, cla.s.smate Xia Ying.” Sun Qi spoke in a soft voice … in this quiet night with an extremely cold wind.

Even in this alley.

“It’s also so cold, ah.”

“Ah ah!!”

A noise suddenly sounded beside Sun Qi’s ear, it made him so terrified that he fell on the ground, into a paddle of foul water, dirtying his uniform – then a shadow shrouded him.

In front of Sun Qi’s eyes, the pair of terrifying scarlet pupils emerged once again.

Lu Qiu stood at the entrance of the alley, while watching the poor b.a.s.t.a.r.d.

“What … what did you do to cla.s.smate Xia Ying?” He asked with a trembling voice, he probably still held some kind of hope.

“That brat?” Lu Qiu pondered a bit, then he smiled and spoke: “Of course she was dismembered limb by limb and then I ate her, ah – that la.s.s tasted pretty good, oh, especially her desperate cry’s, splendid.”

Before killing a prey, Lu Qiu first had this kind of ** wicked fun, that he unwittingly acquired.

“Not like this, let me off … please …”

Death has already descended, yet Sun Qi doesn’t want to die!

Sun Qi fell to the ground and retreated backwards, Lu Qiu extended a hand to grab him.

The moment when Lu Qiu extended his hand to grab Sun Qi.

The sound of a gunshot pierced the night – a bullet almost brushed Lu Qiu’s arm, it flew into a puddle in front of Sun Qi and the foul water splas.h.i.+ng on his face, immediately waking him up from his stupor.

When the bullet suddenly appeared, Lu Qiu became stunned for a moment, he then sprang up and quickly ran backwards – in the direction from where the bullet was shot, was a hospital surrounded by zombies.

“d.a.m.n it!” Lu Qiu definitely can’t let Sun Qi flee – he extended a hand as if wanting to grasp Sun Qi. As long as he grasps Sun Qi’s ‘heart’, then everything is going to be fine.

But then another gunshot sounded!

Lu Qiu could perceive the rapid rotation of the bullet, almost brus.h.i.+ng his ear, ** the ground beside him.

When Lu Qiu once again recovered, he saw Sun Qi miraculously pa.s.s through the zombie crowd’s encirclement and flee into the hospital.

Having his pray escape didn’t made Lu Qiu become rush – he raised his head while standing in the alley and looked for the person that shot at him.

The gunman obviously didn’t intend to claim Lu Qiu’s life, because if he really wanted to do it, then the first bullet should have declared Lu Qiu’s death.

The mid-level blood-sucking specie’s blood-lineage still is pretty much powerless in front of human firearms.

Lu Qiu could distinctly see from within the alley, via the blood-sucking specie’s unique night vision, a pitch-black muzzle extended from a window of a certain room, on the third floor of a nearly eight-floor tall hospital building.

Lu Qiu had studied common human’s firearms quite deeply, after all, if one wants to prevail over their opponent, one must first understand their opponent.

No matter if it’s the wars between humans or the wars between vampires and humans, that is an eternal truth.

Lu Qiu via his, different from an ordinary person’s, eyesight’s scope, could clearly see the muzzle extended from the window and identify it’s general model.

It is a SVD sniper rifle manufactured in the former Soviet Union, it can easily run trough an elephants body – Lu Qiu is incapable of determining the specific model, however, the gunman is approximately a 30 year old male.

There was no killing intent emitted from the gunman’s eyes – Lu Qiu was able to understand it through interacting with the gunman’s line of sight for a moment, that’s how the gunman revealed his intentions

The muzzle has been facing Lu Qiu the whole time and the gunman’s finger was put on the trigger.

Letting me leave? Human … first worry about yourself, Lu Qiu fake-raised his hands in surrender and slowly retreated within the alley.

“Roar!!”

The zombies that originally wandered on the streets, due to Sun Qi’s running past them, were stimulated by the human flesh’s and ** smell, then rammed against the hospital’s entrance.

More and more zombies surround the whole hospital, they have already smelled the scent of the living from within!

Consume those that are living! The zombies ** attacked the hospital’s gla.s.s door, by the looks of it, it should not hold for long.

The gunman’s expression started becoming panicked and indecisive, due to the zombies’ berserk ramming against the door.

He’ll probably make his last stand at the hospital, as that’s his only option.

There must be certainly more than one person within the hospital.

“Since you robbed me of my prey.” Lu Qiu raised high an object in his hand: “Therefore, you’ll all become my prey!”

Looks like trouble! The gunman seemed to have reacted to the strange pitch-black object that suddenly appearing in Lu Qiu’s hand.

But just as he wanted to pull the trigger, Lu Qiu had already thrown the thing in his hands.

High explosive grenade!

Exchanged for 100 Despair Points.

Hundred lives exchange for an explosion!

That zombie crowd was working hard, so Lu Qiu ought to give them a treat!

“Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s time for dinner!”A Blaze spreading at the hospital’s door was reflected within Lu Qiu’s eyes – the violent explosion directly attacked the hospital’s sealed entrance and knocked down the zombies near the entrance

The subsequent zombies stampeded those zombies that were on the ground and stormed into the hospital.

The smell of the living!

They were already thoroughly **.

“This lunatic!!”

Lu Qiu really blew open the hospitals entrance, the gunman’s eyes turned red and in his rage pulled the trigger – the bullet was shot straight at Lu Qiu’s head.

However, this time he really missed.

Lu Qiu’s head slightly leaned to the side and easily evaded the bullet.

You aimed at my head for such a long time, and you thought that I wouldn’t manage to evade?!

Lu Qiu looked at the zombies swarming and storming into the hospital, while emitting hair raising roars – tonight there must be a good show to be seen.

That gunman didn’t fire a second shot, he held the rifle in his hands and ran deeper inside.

Under his judgment, those zombies that stormed in to hunt the living were more lethal than Lu Qiu!

“Let me see to what extent can the zombies pressure the humans.”

Lu Qiu walked past the alley and followed the street towards the hospital.

Those zombies that were knocked down by the explosion, even though their bodies were ablaze, they still incessantly crawled around Lu Qiu, even if they lost their ** or arms, they still didn’t stop from crawling towards the hospital.

Because there were humans, there were living beings! Delicious dinner … full of blood **!

Lu Qiu walked among the zombies, as a Vampire, he didn’t arouse their attention.

Just when Lu Qiu stepped into the hospital’s main hall, he heard females’ shrieks mixed with ** roars coming from upstairs.

The hospital’s walls were stained with large amounts of blood, the originally tidy hall was in a mess.

The Blacklight Virus’ infection rate is extraordinary – those humans under the current circ.u.mstances, if their not rescued soon, are about to become zombies.

As long as the Blacklight Virus erodes the humans’ bodies, then in a few seconds, ordinary humans’ cells will swallow and a.s.similate it – that way, the humans will become zombies that only know how to kill.

“It’s an evolution, ah.” Lu Qiu followed the staircase towards the second floor, simultaneously he sighed at the scene – on the second floor there were some living being chased by zombies.

The majority were dressed like doctors and nurses, among them were also some that were closed like patients.

Only, when they were fleeing, their speed was laughable when compared with the zombies’.

The zombies swarmed and almost instantly threw themselves to the ground, they were several times more agile and powerful than humans, which made them the perfect hunting machines – they used their sharp claws and teeth to directly tear and bite at the humans **.

Blood flew everywhere, along with desperate shrieks, humans curled up in the hospital and at death’s door, time and again becoming those zombies’ ration.

Lu Qiu thought at that time that was that the Blacklight Virus was capable of evolving living beings.

Weren’t you humans craving power?

While Lu Qiu was mowing towards the third floor, he saw at the corner of the staircase a zombie tearing and biting at a corpse until it was unrecognizable. A normal human’s biting and tearing strength absolutely couldn’t ** the living to such a degree. However, these zombies have the strength top accomplish it.

Because they became stronger!

Lu Qiu went to the third floor, the lighting there was bad, a few zombies in the corridor eagerly wrecked havoc.

They were several times more powerful after they became zombies than when they were during their lives!

Not to mention, if they were to evolve into level-2 infected.

As Lu Qiu strolled leisurely in a corridor of the third floor – a panicked male of over 30 years of age and dressed like a doctor run into him, he was fleeing in terror.

There was a zombie chasing the middle-aged man from afar.

When he ran into Lu Qiu, because he overate and became obese, his body finally couldn’t bear it’s heavy weight and fell on the floor.

Lu Qiu continued forward as if not seeing him.

But then the male grabbed Lu Qiu’s leg.

“Save me!”

The zombie was getting closer and closer – the male’s expression, because of the fall and his injuries, became unsightly, but his gaze was full of the desire to live.

“I beg you! Save me … I … I’m the … the son of the hospital’s director, I can give you as much money as you want, so save me!”

Lu Qiu cast a glance at the guy with his scarlet pupils.

Weaklings … can only be eliminated.

Lu Qiu kicked the obese male towards the zombie.

“Uhh, ah!” The zombie gave an excited roar, as the time for dinner approached – it unhesitatingly pounced at the fat sheep and tore and bit without any manners.

“Have a nice meal.”2

Lu Qiu giving the zombie a hand could be considered as a greeting … yet this senseless zombie had only eyes for this extremely delicious treat.

The sounds of bones and flesh being chewed were particularly grotesque.

After the brief encounter with the zombie, Lu Qiu continued to inspect the corridor.

The zombies preyed on the entire human race, as they’re not picky about their food.

But Lu Qiu is very picky.

Lu Qiu was looking for those who are worthy of being killed by him.

Sun Qi was one, as one that knows his secret – the gunman was another one, as one that stole his prey.

“The time to play hide-and-seek is over.” Lu Qiu swept the corridor with a glance, smelled the scent of blood in the air and finally identified Sun Qi’s scent coming from a room near a staircase in the end of the corridor.

“It’s time for you all to meet your maker.”

Lu Qiu split open the corners of his mouth and revealed an excited smile, as he slowly walked towards that room.
