Chapter 14—The Legendary Soul-Devouring Succubus

“There’s an enemy!” Noticing that something was amiss, the mercenary who was keeping watch immediately gave a loud yell. Everybody immediately hastened to rush out of their tents, making the preparations to face the unknown adversary.

“Hahaha! Eleven martial artists; three advanced-ranked martial artists, and eight intermediate-ranked martial artists. Although the strength of their souls are a little weak, it’s still not bad.” Just at that moment, that shudder-inducing voice once again resounded.

“Don’t try to play games with us. If you really have any courage, then show yourself!” One of the smaller-built mercenaries suddenly yelled loudly.

“f.u.c.k, are you an imbecile?” Xing Jue, who was currently intending to stealthily escape, was reined in by that mercenaries words, thinking to himself: Could it be that you can’t feel the enemy’s formidable aura? At this moment, instead of hurriedly thinking of a plan to run away, you unexpectedly dare to provoke them.

“This younger brother can rest at ease. This mercenary’s nickname is known as “The King of Traps”; although his strength may only be at one of an intermediate-ranked martial artist, he is an expert at making all sorts of traps and mechanisms. Furthermore, the attack potential of his traps are all extremely strong. Even if the strongest martial artist were to be slightly careless and trigger a mechanism, their body would definitely receive a serious injury.” A mercenary next to Xing Jue seemed to read the thoughts currently within Xing Jue’s heart, immediately explaining.

“Bang… Bang… Bang…!” Just at this moment, a burst of violent explosions began to sound, a series of harsh lights unceasingly flas.h.i.+ng. Confronted with this scene, on the mercenaries’ faces appeared excited expressions; it seemed that the mechanisms had been triggered. However, in the next moment, that cold voice once again resounded, and their previously excited faces all became somewhat pale.

“Such insignificant talent, and you still want to stop this old lady¹?” Following this, an alluring figure landed onto the ground, and an extremely formidable pressure proliferated through the air. At this moment everybody’s faces became pale and feeble with fear.

“A martial senior?” Looking towards the alluring woman who had just landed in front of his eyes, Xing Jue lowly spoke out loud. At the moment his body was incapable of moving of its own free will; such formidable pressure could only be exerted by one who had achieved the legendary rank of martial senior.

The woman was wearing a skintight black dress that flattered her figure. It could be said that her figure was extremely s.e.xy, and her facial features were extremely lovely as well. Even that exceedingly frightening strength, as well as that fear-inducing voice, were not enough to detract from her superior qualities. She was practically one of the most stunning and extraordinarily beautiful women in the entire world.

“We don’t know why this senior here wishes to attack us.” That lanky man spoke with an extremely base and despicable intonation. Furthermore, on his face, there was a large expanse of skin where cold sweat was continuously trickling down.

“Giggle… are you saying I’m beautiful?” However, what the onlookers would have never imagined was that woman in the black dress would not only reply to the lanky man’s words, but also unexpectedly walk gracefully to that lanky man’s side, lift up his chin with her fingers, and flirtatiously ask such a question. It left the onlooking spectators with an extremely ambiguous feeling.

“Beautiful… extremely beautiful.” Gazing at the exceedingly lovely woman in front of his eyes, the lanky man looked as if his very soul had been hooked, his eyes giving out an extremely coveting and aroused expression, slowly speaking.

“Then, can I kiss you?” The woman laughed as she spoke.

“Of… of course…” The lanky man replied without the slightest hesitation.

“Don’t, don’t kiss her!” The Heavenly-Dragon Commander, seeing this bizarre scene play out, suddenly shouted.

But it was already too late. The woman in the black dress had already affixed her extremely erotic lips to tightly wrap around the mouth of the lanky man. At this point, an extremely frightening scene began to occur. The lanky man’s body unexpectedly began to continuously shudder, his body rapidly shrinking until at last it had unexpectedly became reduced into nothing but a pale, shrunken corpse. His eyes, which protruded outwards, furthermore made people feel an extreme dread.

“The Soul-Devouring Succubus, you are the Soul-Devouring Succubus?” Seeing the mummified remains of the lanky man, the Heavenly-Dragon Commander suddenly gave a loud shout. At hearing his words, everybody’s fear reached its apex. Only Xing Jue remained ignorant. However, seeing the panic-stricken expressions on everyone else’s faces, Xing Jue could guess that this Soul-Devouring Succubus was definitely an extremely dangerous person.

“Who would have thought that there were still people out there who knew this old lady’s t.i.tle.” The Soul-Devouring Succubus licked her lips as if in antic.i.p.ation, immediately turning around and advancing towards the Heavenly-Dragon Commander.

“It’s not possible, it’s not possible!” The Heavenly-Dragon Commander looked towards the approaching Soul-Devouring Succubus, incessantly repeating those words.

“Ah!” But just at that moment, the Soul-Devouring Succubus suddenly frantically grabbed her hair, repeatedly shouting loudly, appearing as if she had sustained a serious injury. At the same time, the pressure that had enveloped Xing Jue and the others dissipated in a moment.

“Hurry and flee!” Sensing that the pressure that had encompa.s.sed the surroundings had dissipated in that moment, Xing Jue’s first reaction once he had gotten his bearings was to immediately yell loudly. Consequently, everybody dispersed and fled one after another.

“Don’t think that you can get away!” Seeing that everybody wanted to escape, the Soul-Devouring Succubus suddenly raised up her right hand, clenching her fist tightly, a line of red light diffusing through the hollow of her palm. At the same time an aura of extremely domineering attractive force cruelly rushed forth. In this way, under the power of the domineering attractive force, everybody was sucked in one after another and sent flying backwards. Furthermore, as long as someone touched the red light, they would all directly spurt out a mouthful of blood, immediately fainting dead away.

Seeing this scene play out, within Xing Jue’s heart he could not help but be extremely frightened. Was this really the formidable strength of a martial senior? The people present were utterly incapable of resisting her ability; it really was too formidable.

Despite the fact that Xing Jue was firmly clinging onto the side of a large tree, in the face of this formidable attractive force, he was somewhat incapable of holding onto it for any longer… if it could be said that advanced-ranked martial artists relied on powerful martial techniques, and could even struggle to be on the same level of some martial ancestors, then when faced against a martial senior, they didn’t even have the capability to retaliate. This was precisely the difference between the strengths of the two ranks.

“Ah…! Ah…! Hateful…!” Just at this moment, the Soul-Devouring Succubus once again cried out in pain, the red light emitted from her palm gradually waning, the domineering attractive force disappearing as well. Seeing that scene, Xing Jue and the others that had still yet to be sucked away, once again sacrificed everything to flee towards the abyss of the mountain ranges.

“f.u.c.k, this Soul-Devouring Succubus is really too terrifying.” In the surrounding area of the Death Peaks, Xing Jue cut a sorry figure, his mouth unceasingly gasping for air. Xing Jue had already ran for no less that three hours; it was not until after he was unable to feel the formidable pressure of the Soul-Devouring Succubus that he ceased his footsteps, resting slightly.

“Crunch… crunch… crunch…” Just when Xing Jue thought it was safe, all of a sudden the sound of footsteps sounded. Immediately, a familiar figure appeared in front of Xing Jue.

“Younger brother Xing Jue, it’s me, it’s me!” This wasn’t just any person, but the Heavenly-Dragon Commander himself. It was only that his current appearance was obviously more wretched-looking than Xing Jue’s by a bit.

“Hehe, no wonder I always felt that there was somebody behind me the whole time. So it turns out that it was the Heavenly-Dragon Commander,” Xing Jue said, chuckling. Actually, Xing Jue had became aware that there was somebody following him a long time ago, although he knew that this person was definitely not the Soul-Devouring Succubus. If it really was the Soul-Devouring Succubus, he would have practically been unable to flee very far away, and would have been caught a long time ago. Apart from the Soul-Devouring Succubus, the only other definite conclusion as to the ident.i.ty of the person was one of the other successful escaped mercenaries.

“This mountain range is extremely dangerous. Younger brother Xing Jue is not used to these mountain ranges, which is why I followed you in escaping. After all, in these kinds of dangerous surroundings, together with younger brother Xing Jue, who has this kind of strength, the guarantee of safety is a bit higher.” The Heavenly-Dragon Commander smiled as he spoke.

But at hearing the Heavenly-Dragon Commander’s admiring words, Xing Jue could only burst into bitter laughter. Because just then, he, an advanced-ranked martial artist, was trampled on like he was a helpless baby chick, without the least bit of a chance to retaliate. Now that he had succeeded in his escape, he could only attribute it to luck.

“Heavenly-Dragon Commander, what is the story behind this Soul-Devouring Succubus?” After he had finished bitterly laughing, Xing Jue recalled the recent expression of astonishment of the Heavenly-Dragon Commander. It was evident that he had some understanding of the Soul-Devouring Succubus, which was why Xing Jue immediately asked this now.

“This, it’s a rather complicated story. Even I still have some unfathomable feelings right now.” The Heavenly-Dragon Commander profoundly sighed, before he arrived at Xing Jue’s side to explain.

“Actually, the Soul-Devouring Succubus was only a legend, nothing more.” The Heavenly-Dragon Commander straightened out his train of thought before he opened his mouth to say more.

After hearing the Heavenly-Dragon Commander say this sentence, Xing Jue couldn’t help but feel alarm as well. Immediately, his face was filled with an interested expression, silently listening to the Heavenly-Dragon Commander’s narration.

“Several hundred years ago, amidst these Death Peaks, once appeared a succubus. This succubus murdered people by nature. Furthermore, she regarded the souls of martial artists as food, hence why she became known as the Soul-Devouring Succubus. Because this Soul-Devouring Succubus’s strength was already extremely domineering, when she finally attained the strength of advanced-ranked martial senior, a.s.sembly Town’s mercenaries were practically not her opponents, and therefore they could only ask for help from Yufeng Court. Finally Yufeng Court dispatched two elders whose strengths had reached one of an advanced-ranked martial senior, in order to capture the succubus. Yet, because the succubus relied on such bizarre abilities, the Yufeng Court elders unexpectedly were incapable of doing anything, and were even gradually put into a disadvantageous position. Finally, at the pivotal moment, the two elders could only put to use an extremely formidable sealing technique at the price of their own lives, ultimately succeeding in sealing the succubus within the Death Peaks.”

“But who would have thought that this legendary story was really unexpectedly true. Furthermore, this succubus somehow undid the seal, once again reappearing within the Death Peaks.” Speaking up to this point, the Heavenly-Dragon Commander’s face was already filled with an uneasy expression.
