Chapter 6 [Demon Cow]

Hm…

The behemoth was trodding his way back to the branching path he encountered before, a very particular goal in mind. Before he reached the intersection, though, three new enemies showed up to block his path.

“Minotaur”.

A bipedal humanoid bull-like monster.

These things were ranked somewhere between C and B. C+.

『MWOOOO!!』

The moment they caught the look of the tiny kitten, they charged at him not unlike pedophiles at an unattended children’s playground.

They seemed like they were even fighting each other, wanting to be the first to get a taste of that young and tender behemoth meat.

Minotaurs, eh? You came at just the right time. I’ll grant you the privilege of becoming my «Tailblade»’s first prey!

The behemoth didn’t have a safety alarm, but his fighting spirit was burning so bright he didn’t need it.

The first to make a move was the frontmost minotaur, brandis.h.i.+ng a battleaxe and swinging it down overhead.

More skilled than goblins, but still too slow!

He dodged it without issue, smoothly jumping back.

The battleaxe crashed into the ground before he landed, obscuring him and the first minotaur in a cloud of dust.

But in the next moment, the dust was cleared away.

『MOO—?!』

The minotaurs in the back stopped dead in their tracks.

It was a normal reaction. Their brother-in-arms had lost his head.

Too easy!

The monster who just lost his head slowly fell to the ground, and the behemoth leapt out triumphantly from next to its feet.

His tail was held up like a weapon, having used «Aether Edge» to decapitate his opponent.

『MWOOO!!』

They had no idea what happened. But they figured out the little cat was dangerous quickly enough, and started getting some distance from him.

Then one lifted up its axe. It was preparing something.

『Moo… MWOO («Fireball»)!!』

So it was magic!

The behemoth knew that there were some minotaurs capable of magic. Seeing one take a fighting stance from a distance, there really was nothing else it could have been.

And with a thundering swing, a fireball flew out from the battleaxe at the behemoth.

Obviously, he wasn’t going to just take it quietly and get in the van. He was ready to counter.

「NYAN («Aether Howl»)!」

He fired out the air in his lungs, colliding with the minotaur’s fireball.

The immense pressure forced it back—no, the fireball rebounded even faster, cras.h.i.+ng into the shocked minotaur mage’s face in a violent explosion.

Grabbing at his burning head the minotaur screamed a voiceless wail of agony, only to be cut off by a disgusting squelching.

The sound came from his chest, sliced cleanly through by the behemoth’s «Aether Edge».

Next!

Flouris.h.i.+ng his invisible sword, the behemoth threw a confident glare the way of the final minotaur.

And the minotaur ran like the cops just rolled in.

He finally understood.

He wasn’t the predator here.

「Nyan! (Why are you running?!)」

This was the natural result.

They were after his life.

The behemoth wasn’t going to let that slide.

Unfortunately, the minotaur was already on the mooove with his well-developed bull legs.

So to catch up, the behemoth invoked his new «Flight» skill that he got from the wyvern earlier.

And without any obstructions thanks to being in the air, the behemoth overtook his target in no time flat.

『MWOOO— («Icicle Lance»)!!』

The cornered bull-man shot off an intermediate water spell, «Icicle Lance», in desperation.

You think you can actually hit me when you’re not even trying to aim!

The behemoth was a knight, after all. He was no stranger to dealing with magic.

He adjusted his wings and turned a half-circle around the ice lance.

「NYAN («Flame Edge»)!」

He dealt the final blow with his «Elemental Tailblade»’s highest firepower variant, cutting the minotaur right in half. There wasn’t even any blood splatter.

As expected of such terrifying heat. And well done, just the way I like it. Time to chow down.

After things settled a bit, the behemoth chomped into his impromptu minotaur steak, excess meat juice rolling down the fur on his mouth.

Delicious. Yeah, I’m keeping the rest.

A hearty mouthful of three minotaurs later, he stuffed the rest into his «Storage» and kept on moving.
