Yan Liang stood in front of the heavy oaken door. In the end, she couldn't help feeling anxious.

In fact she couldn't understand Liang Xi Cheng's meaning. Because she needled his prestige, was he preparing to fire her? But if he was going to fire her, throwing it out there in the meeting room was enough. There was no need to go to his office.

Actually Liang Xi Cheng's appearance somewhat resembled Liang Jing Shan's; afterall they were brother and sister. While attending school, Liang Jian Shan was the school beauty. Many male students chased after her. Only her standards were too high. She was never satisfied with any of them. Who would've thought in the end she picked Yan Liang's boyfriend......

Who would've thought Liang Xi Cheng was pretty polite. His tall body got up from the executive chair. He walked directly across Yan Liang and sat down on a sofa. Seeing him sit down, Yan Liang was no longer shy and sat across from him.

"Secretary Bai, do you know why I called you to my office?" He gracefully crossed his legs. He seemed entirely relaxed. He was completely different from his forceful demeanor in the conference room. Now he had a gentle demeanor; he seemed refined and kind.

Yan Liang swallowed before opening her mouth, "Chairman Liang, if you have something to tell me, you can directly say it. I know back at the meeting room, my words......."

"What? Before you were fearless and brash. Now you're in my office, you suddenly ran out of steam?" Liang Xi Cheng cut her off before she could explain. His tone suddenly sharpened, "Or is it, Secretary Bai, those vehement words you spoke then was merely because you like the sound of your voice[1]?"

"No!" The sting from his words made Yan Liang lift her head. s.h.i.+ning eyes looked at him, "What I said was true. I still don't regret it."

"Then what are you scared of?"

"I'm not......"

"But right now you're nervous." Those words Liang Xi Cheng spoke with certainty. Yan Liang's breath was stuck in her throat. It was hard to refute him.

It's true. She was indeed nervous, but being nervous didn't mean a guilty conscious. "The nervousness is because I don't know your, Chairman Liang's, meaning is. I know my words from before made you very angry. That's why I'm not sure how you will penalize me. This kind of nervousness doesn't mean I feel guilty."

Liang Xi Cheng suddenly laughed. Looking at her with scrunched up eyes, his deep voice suddenly softened a few degrees, "Who said I was very angry just now?"

These phrase is 你刚刚那样气势汹汹说的话，也不过就是一时图个嘴皮子痛快. Literally, it translates to "The words you aggressively spoke before was also merely a momentary plan to talk glibly to your heart's content."  I felt like it doesn't flow very well in English, so I slightly changed it. I think I kept what the author really meant, which is she spoke for the sake of speaking/ her words have no basis or true meaning. Let me know what you think! Should I change it or leave it as it is?
