Peony, The Flower Fairy

“Your Highness, your grandfather came to welcome you here.”, w.a.n.g Fu said with a respectful tone and bending slightly as a sign of respect.

Yan Yan turned around, looked at him, suddenly smiled and said, “My dad's mom is here?"

w.a.n.g Fu was surprised and said, “You still remember him, your highness?"

Yan Yan nodded. “Yes. I remember when I was a child, Grandfather always gave me something.”

w.a.n.g Fu also remember and knew it in his mind.

When Yan Yan was still five years old, he was the most favorite prince in the palace. So, when the Emperor (Queen Zhang's father) got something, he would not forget the prince. He used to send it personally through w.a.n.g Fu to the Phoenix Palace.

"I did not expect that His Highness would still remember after so many years." w.a.n.g Fu thought surprisingly.

w.a.n.g Fu felt a touch of warmth in his heart. "They are rootless slaves; this life has long been with no hope, and sought nothing more than respect from the others which they usually miss."

w.a.n.g Fu stepped forward to Yan Yan to fix his collar and said, “Your Highness, the Emperor went to the palace last night to check everything. He will come today also. Do not be wayward.”

He just finished to requisite Yan Yan including fixing his collar. The people had also returned to their respectful posts and a downcast in their eyes began to be seen.

Yan Yan looked at w.a.n.g Fu's eyes. He unexpectedly thought that the overture to the Emperor was so long. But for them, it was also a sign of respect to the Emperor.

He didn’t say anything but he looked back in the courtyard where Peony left. He stretched out his hand, pointed to the Peony, and said, "w.a.n.g Fu, I didn't miss anything in the courtyard but there's one thing that I'd like to keep. I just want the flower Peony to be with me again here in the palace. Only the Peony accompanied me for a long time. Can I bring it here in the Palace?"

w.a.n.g Fu knew about the Peony, and that it was the only thing that the former queen left the child.

w.a.n.g Fu smiled and said, “Of course, everything you left in the courtyard that you want to bring here in the palace and still want to keep can be brought with you, Your Highness."

Yan Yan nodded, feeling a little comfortable that his sister Peony will also be with him in the palace.

w.a.n.g Fu immediately commanded the eunuch to get the Peony from the courtyard as Yan Yan wished. He gave an instruction to the eunuch to take good care of the half-a-person-sized Peony while pa.s.sing through to the dark road of the small courtyard. To be able to go there, one should have strength and vigor because of the dark and creepy road which made it seem like there was someone watching.

This palace seemed to have a dark side, too, even if it contained so many bright lights. Whether w.a.n.g Fu nor Yan Yan did not know how many pairs of eyes were staring at them in the small courtyard.

"The former prince returned to the palace with the Emperor and the chief steward of the throne himself went to pick him up. Why did the majesty do that?"

"What is the meaning of this?"

"Why does he seem so special?"

"Why does the Imperial Concubine have no reaction about this?"

There were a lot of reactions and comments tossed by the palace maids and by the other people in the palace.

"Her temperament is very domineeringly accustomed but do not know what kind of reaction?"

"The Imperial Concubine seems given no choice that's why she doesn't react."

Meanwhile, in the Phoenix Palace, the Imperial Concubine was quietly waiting for Yan Yan with a bright face, and a gentle and graceful smile.

“Mama, I heard that the former prince will be back to the Cornelle House today with the Emperor and the Chief Steward. Her mother is also a Concubine, isn't it?"

The Imperial Concubine laughed beautifully and said to his son, "Queen Zhang is dead but her sins have not been repaid yet." Her tone was carved with bitterness.

The Concubine suddenly felt that the return of w.a.n.g De to the Cornelle House was not a bad thing – mother debt avenge.
