Chapter 11 The Second Round

“Kiss me, and I will let you go.” Danjinos showed the right side of his face to her. His brazen condition, together with his handsome face, made her upset and blush a deep red.

“Put me down first.” She tried to fool him, but he was much brighter than she thought.

“Kiss me first.”

She had no choice but to kiss him quickly, and then waited.

Danjinos smiled, and then put her down. He touched his face where her lips had just brushed his skin.

The second round was a compet.i.tion to make a dress for Lu Mengmeng. Not only that, but the girl would wear the dress as she walked down the runway. The audience would vote without being informed of the designer.

Lu Mengmeng went backstage to put on her dresses.

The first one was a black evening dress laden with crystals in different colors across the whole skirt, which caught the light and glittered under the stage lamp of the dark hall. Lu Mengmeng’s hair was tied up high, which showed off her long, slender neck, looking elegant when she c.o.c.ked her head to the side. From head to toe, she was lovely and sparkly. The audiences applauded when she walked out onto the runway.

The second dress was an ordinary white T-s.h.i.+rt. She had a good shape, but this T-s.h.i.+rt covered up this advantage.

The result was predictable.

The host p.r.o.nounced the winner’s name: Lin Ruize.

It was understandable. He was a fish, and human dresses were not his strong point. If the rule was to bite the dress into pieces, maybe he could have defeated Lin Ruize. Although Zhao Bu and Ma Liuyun had helped him, the best they could achieve was that this T-s.h.i.+rt was suitable for wearing. However, Lin Ruize had been talented in painting since his childhood, and he had a sister studying Fas.h.i.+on Design in Columbia University.

“Obviously my design is much better than his. Besides, how could you wear such a low-cut collar dress in the public? What a shameful competing rule. . .” Danjinos could not stop complaining when he got the results.

Lu Mengmeng shook her head; Danjinos himself was the rule maker.

“I am so angry that I need another kiss.” Disgruntled, Danjinos turned to Lu Mengmeng.

“This is an honor belonging only to the winner.” Lu Mengmeng rejected his rude request.

She turned to look at Lin Ruize. When she was thought that the dress was made by he, her heart was full of honey.

Danjinos was irritated by her happiness, and murmured, “Stupid woman!”

The third round was to compete in singing.

A black grand piano was brought onto the stage. Lin Ruize, in a formal black suit, stepped up to the stage.

The audience became silent, waiting for his performance. Lin Ruize started to play the piano and sing. This was a song he had written, called, Don’t forget me. His pure English and beautiful voice shocked the audience. Some girls screamed, and they took out cell phones to take videos.

Lu Mengmeng was nervously listening to him, afraid she might miss any of his excellent performance. She tried to follow him singing. In her world, only he and she were left. He was so dedicated to the song, occasionally softly smiling at her. He ended with the words, “Don’t forget me. . .”

Danjinos was staring coldly at his fiancée. His confidence faded away when he saw her eyes focus on Lin Ruize.

Lin Ruize finished the last note on the piano, and stood up to accept the audience's eager clapping.

“Gosh, it is a song from heaven,” said the president of the Student Union, who was leading the cheering audience. He clapped until his hands grew heavy and his palms turned red.

Lu Mengmeng nodded to praise him, too. “He deserves the nickname, ‘little prince of piano’.”

Lin Ruize bowed politely to all the people and took a deep look at Lu Mengmeng, and then stepped down the stairs.

Danjinos felt humiliated by this acclaim for Lin Ruize.

“Poor human beings, I will let you know what kind of sound could be called coming from heaven.”
