In conclusion, after sifting through everything, the only thing Xinghe could do now was to locate the thing Xia Meng's father left her.

In walked Ye Shen with a tray with a bowl of steaming hot noodles.

"Xia Meng, how come you didn't come down for dinner? You just got out of the hospital so you have to take care of that body of yours. I had Auntie Ding cooked you a bowl of noodles, here, eat it while it's hot."

Ye Shen walked over and set the tray down in front of her.

"Why aren't you eating? Is it because you are still angry at me? Or do you just look down on me?" Ye Shen played his part to a chilling effect. The questions turned into orders as his expression became laced with viciousness, "I told you to eat! Are you deaf‽"

"Get out," Xinghe commanded without even deigning to look at him, "I will eat the noodles but not when you're still around; your face ruins my appet.i.te."

"What did you say?" Ye Shen's tone became increasingly threatening. "I'm your husband and you dare say that my face ruins your appet.i.te?"

"If you still want the thing then get out!" Xinghe flared up, not at all afraid of him.

Ye Shen was taken aback by this sudden outburst.

He narrowed his eyes as this woman who was his wife and realized the woman was… different.

The fear in her eyes whenever he was around was gone, and there was now fierceness in them…

Could attempted suicide really be such a life-changing experience that it strips away even fear?

Ye Shen was cowed because if she really committed another suicide then he could bid that thing farewell. Since she had the courage to do it once, there was nothing stopping her from doing it again.

He suppressed his rage and offered an obsequious smile. "Alright, if it'll make you feel better then I shall leave. By the way, when will you be giving me the thing you promised… How about after you finished eating?"
