Chapter 121 - The Scepter’s Strange Behaviour

He made it very clear that the incense burner and the incense were for Sun Yiyi. Because she was constantly tiring herself as she was concerned about her mother’s health, she needed to relax and her mother could use it too.

Sun Yiyi was confused; didn’t s.h.i.+ Lei buy it for her mother in the first place? How was it for her now that they’ve left the shopping mall?

She didn’t know that s.h.i.+ Lei was worried that these expenses wouldn’t be counted into the sum and hence he must emphasize that these were for Sun Yiyi.

Although slightly, but s.h.i.+ Lei somewhat had grasped what the Scepter’s personality was like. Something like this should be okay, at least it shouldn’t be a problem when Sun Yiyi was there when they were used.

They found a restaurant for food and s.h.i.+ Lei finally finished spending this week’s money without any accidents. As for time, it was 11PM on Sat.u.r.day with one hour left until the sum is refreshed again.

As s.h.i.+ Lei sent Sun Yiyi home, he reminded her to use the incense before leaving.

After he returned to his apartment, it was about midnight. It had been a chaos all day so s.h.i.+ Lei decided to shower first. Looking at the bruise on his leg, he clenched his teeth in pain.

It was past midnight after he put some medicine on the bruise, as well as took some pills. s.h.i.+ Lei didn’t feel strange anywhere and didn’t smell any blood, he knew that he had pa.s.sed this week safely.

He wasn’t in a hurry as he couldn’t fall asleep, s.h.i.+ Lei took the Black Card and it was time for him to have a chat with it.

As s.h.i.+ Lei didn’t want to see the two guards shaking in the rigid wind, he found a nearby self-service bank and inserted the Black Card. The Scepter appeared as usual but before s.h.i.+ Lei opened his mouth, it scolded him in dissatisfaction.

“You stupid marmot……” s.h.i.+ Lei wasn’t even bother to roast the Scepter anymore. Ever since the word ‘marmot’ appeared, the Scepter seemed to like this word a lot and it stopped using other terms such as mole and hamster.

“Stupid marmot, do you really think that I, the almighty Scepter, can’t see through your little tricks? If the incenses weren’t judged to be used by Sun Yiyi, it wouldn’t be calculated into the sum. It was 3,000 yuan, almost 3% of this week’s overall sum, is it really worth to risk for Sun Yiyi’s mother?”

s.h.i.+ Lei thought, actually, it was because I knew your patterns and dared to make a risky move like this as after the incenses are burnt, both Sun Yiyi and her mother will be users and that’s why I dared to do it.

But he definitely couldn’t tell the Scepter about this. Otherwise, he wouldn’t know if the Scepter or the Black Card could make slight changes to the rules. He discovered this bug after such a long time and if it was changed, such as calculating the percentage of how much incense Sun Yiyi and her mother inhaled each and the percentage which was inhaled by her mother wasn’t counted, wouldn’t he go insane?

As a result, s.h.i.+ Lei held a strong sense of righteousness and said: “Since Sun Yiyi is my woman, there’s no way I can just watch her tire herself for the sake of her mother. That was a risky move and I knew it, but, Sun Yiyi can only go back to her original life once her mother is completely recovered. In the end, I’m being considerate of my woman and if you think that it’s against the rules, then I have nothing to say!”

“Hehe(1)…… You are even pretending to be righteous. Your acting sucks and it doesn’t work here. I told you that if it wasn’t for Sun Yiyi to be the user of the incenses, you would be punished straight away. Your tricks are nothing.”

“Luckily it didn’t, am I right?”

“Stupid marmot, I finally met someone who’s not like those idiots before. I hope you can live longer and stop taking risks for unimportant things.”

s.h.i.+ Lei didn’t like what it was saying. He immediately opposed: “If I already changed my life successfully but can’t do anything for my close friends and family, it wouldn’t be a bad thing if I die. If my family and close friends felt like I’ve became someone with lack of humane feelings and cold blooded, they would be sad and that makes me suffer. The great Scepter, although you are almighty, but the choice is mine, I make choices which I think are the best.”

The Scepter immediately cursed, but s.h.i.+ Lei didn’t give a d.a.m.n as it was the same as what it had always said.

Perhaps it was tired, but s.h.i.+ Lei wasn’t sure as he didn’t know if an intelligent being without a body would feel tired or not. All in all, the Scepter stopped.

The Scepter said: “Anyway, there was some progression this week between you and that woman. You had more solid interaction as you kissed her for the first time, that’s good. But, I hope that you try harder. Why didn’t you get her that night? I’m disappointed in you.”

“To someone with a great existence like you, only the beginning and the ending to something’s development is important, but to humans, the process is much more important than the result. So, since I have a year to act, then it’s my decision how to make things progress. As you said, I kissed Yiyi for the first time, and that’s not it, I came two times on her…… Hehe(2)……” s.h.i.+ Lei smiled like an idiot as he scratched his head. Although, it was quickly replaced by embarra.s.sment as he didn’t know whether it was his illusion or not, but he thought that he saw the Scepter looking at him in disdain.

b.l.o.o.d.y h.e.l.l, how could a Scepter have facial expressions?

“That’s the progress I need. As for the result, I will definitely make it happen before the end of the one year period. Even I’m not in a hurry, why are you in a hurry?”

“I’m only reminding you. The quicker you do it, the sooner you can use the other two chances to spin the wheel again, you can also become stronger with those rewards. You can only live better like this, I hope that you can walk further than all of the people before you!” s.h.i.+ Lei had a brief thought indeed, the Scepter was right. But also, no, the Scepter definitely wouldn’t be that kind hearted and he didn’t believe that the Scepter really hoped him to be stronger. There was definitely up with the Scepter wanting him to complete the agreement as quickly as possible and receive those two chances for rewards.

Except for now, s.h.i.+ Lei really couldn’t think of any possibilities of the problem.

Hence, s.h.i.+ Lei seemed to agree to what it said on the surface but he never intended to follow what it said in any way.

Even without this concern, s.h.i.+ Lei didn’t want to progress too quickly with Sun Yiyi. Just like what he said on WeChat to her mother before, although she was already of  legal age, and without her mother’s incident she would’ve already been a first-year student in Wu Dong University, but s.h.i.+ Lei wanted to wait until she becomes a real university student, then change their relations.h.i.+p. It wasn’t for anything else but to let Sun Yiyi’s mother feel relieved. Even if it was not on that particular day, he would at least wait until her mother was completely recovered and when Sun Yiyi didn’t have any more worries.
