Marley; has issue, two sons. Member of the Middle Temple; c. to the bar, 1835; clerk of a.s.sizes for the Northern Circuit. The Bayleys are descended in the female line from the ancient family of Bigland of Bigland, in Lancas.h.i.+re (_Union Club_; _Updown House_, _Sandwich_; _Cowes Castle_, _Isle of Wight_).

Has been a member of the Royal College of Surgeons, England, since 1847, a licentiate of Soc. of Apothecaries since 1848; and an M.D., St.

Andrew's, since 1850; a member of the British Medical a.s.sociation.

Formerly Surgeon to the Ca.n.a.l-street Hospital, and demonstrator of anatomy at the Manchester School of Medicine; has devoted much of his attention to diphtheria, scarlatina, and the therapeutic use of oxygen.
