Chapter 40: Qilin’s Blessing

“Alright, Wind Spirit, here is the two drops of qilin blood you wanted.”  The Spiritual Jade Bottle floated into Feng Xiao’s hands.

“Two drops?”  Feng Xiao never thought the qilin would be this generous.

“He, he, I’ve already said it.  As long as you save my child, I will agree to any requests you have.  Not to mention the fact that after it recovers its qilin power, I will disappear from the Heavenly Dragon Continent, so what does it matter if I leave a few drops of blood.”  The purple bead on the Purple Lightning Qilin’s head was quite a bit dimmer and its face looked very weary. It seemed it had suddenly aged quite a bit.

“Thank you, boss qilin.  Ah? You’re saying its qilin power can be recovered?”

“It had no way of recovering it before, but as long as it stays with you and slowly absorb your chaos power, I think it should be able to gradually recover its qilin power!”

“It’s good if it can recover.”  Feng Xiao gave a sigh of relief and carefully placed the Spiritual Jade Bottle into his inventory.

The Purple Lightning Qilin had a calm smile as he pointed to the side and said, “Wing Spirit, that Nether Wolf’s corpse will disappear in half an hour, so go and try using your Gathering Skill on it.  It’s a pity that the things it dropped has already disappeared, otherwise I could have given it to you as a thank you gift.”

In «Rebirth», normal monster corpse would last a minute, bosses would last 10 minutes, Immortal Beasts would last for 20 minutes, Divine Beasts would last for half an hour, Supreme Divine Beasts would last for an hour, and Sacred Beasts would never disappear.  There have been people that had fought Divine Beasts before, but as for Supreme Divine Beasts and Sacred Beasts, there had never been a Supreme Divine Beast and Sacred Beast that had died in a non natural manner. It seemed like the Dual Headed Illusory Eye Nether Wolf slapped to death by the Purple Lightning Qilin was the only one.

Only, the items dropped by Supreme Divine Beasts would at least be Divine Equipment, but the Purple Lightning Qilin had allowed it to disappear.  Feng Xiao couldn’t help feeling pain deep down.

But trying to gather a Supreme Divine Beast’s corpse, normal people would not dare think of this.

Without saying anything else, Feng Xiao rushed in front of the Dual Headed Illusory Eye Nether Wolf and began to use his intermediate grade Gathering Technique on it.

Feng Xiao was covered in sweat after working hard for twenty minutes.  All his gathering attempts had failed. The items from a Supreme Divine Beast was at least above the Immortal Grade, so with his intermediate grade Gathering Skill, his success rate was negligible.  If it wasn’t for the Asura’s Heavenly Return’s MP recovery, with several thousand failed gathering attempts, all the blue potions in his inventory would have been used up already.

The smiling Purple Lightning Qilin watching the fun began to admire his dedication and said in a thoughtful voice, “It seems like I need to help you.”

“Help me?”  Feng Xiao stopped gathering and stood up to look at the Purple Lightning Qilin with a strange gaze, “Could you help my gathering?”

The Purple Lightning Qilin rolled his eyes, “Have you ever heard of beasts using the Gathering Technique?  Stand still, prepare to accept my blessing!”

“Blessing?  Can it increase the success rate of magic?”  Feng Xiao was filled with doubt as Xuanyuan Wan’er’s surprised cry came from his sea of consciousness.

“Qilin’s Blessing!  This is the Qilin’s Blessing!  Big brother Feng, you really are filled with the heaven’s blessings, even I’m jealous of your good luck!”  Wan’er’s surprised cry made Feng Xiao confused because even when they obtained the qilin’s blood, she was not as excited as this.

“Big brother Feng, the Qilin’s Blessing is something a qilin can only use once in their lifetime and would only appear once every several hundred million years.  Although it isn’t clear what the person is blessed with, it wouldn’t be weaker than the Heaven Defying Scroll you received.” Xuanyuan Wan’er excitedly said. Feng Xiao being able to receive this blessing made her happier than if she had received it.

A purple light suddenly enveloped Feng Xiao and while he was feeling incomparable comfort, a giant streak of purple lightning struck down on his head and instantly knocked him out.  Following this, another streak of even larger heavenly thunder fell on his head again, knocking him awake.

Although it was set on 5% pain, Feng Xiao’s body was completely sore like he had been burnt.  Even if the pain could be tolerated, that numbing sensation was like h.e.l.l for him, he couldn’t even call out.

“Are you blessing me or punis.h.i.+ng me…..”  Feng Xiao was knocked unconscious again.

Feng Xiao was knocked unconscious and back awake like this continuously, making him bitterly grit his teeth.  Gradually he felt the lightning striking down on him become smaller as the pain and numbing sensation also became smaller.

“Peng!”  The purple light surrounding Feng Xiao disappeared and the lightning stopped falling down.  After the Qilin’s Blessing was over, Feng Xiao much more refreshed. The Purple Lightning Qilin was however panting and had aged quite a bit.

“Ding, congratulations to player Wind Spirit for accepting the ‘Qilin’s Blessing’.  Strength +50, Vitality +50, Agility +50, Intelligence +100, Luck +50, Thunder Resistance +100%, and Paralysis Resistance +100%.”

“Ding, the lightning power within your body has awakened.  You have comprehended the skills ‘Thunder Wall’ and ‘Thunder Thread Bind’.”

“Ding, being affected by the thunder attributed energy inside you, your pet, Nether Five Elemental Saint Qilin has awakened its thunder attributed energy.  +5% Thunder Resistance +5%. Has awakened the skill ‘Thunder Flash’.”

Thunder Thread Bind: Active thunder attributed magical martial skill.  Only a person with a high perception and a demon G.o.d’s body can comprehend this skill.  When used, condenses a weapon made with the power of lightning to release a thread of lightning to trap a single enemy.  They cannot escape and there is a chance of pulling them closer. While they are bound, it will cause 100 thunder damage per second when bound.  There is a 10% chance of adding a ‘paralysis’ state. The binding can last 10 seconds and can be cancelled at any time. Costs 30 MP to use and has a 10 second cooldown.

Thunder Wall: Magical martial support skill.  Forms a thunder energy barrier around the user and strengthens various abilities of the user.

Effects: Reflects 10% damage, Thunder Resistance +10%, and Paralysis Resistance +20%.  Costs 10MP to use and can last 10 seconds. It has no cooldown.

Feng Xiao was stunned, completely stunned…...

He had expected the large amount of stats increase, but that 50 luck and 100% Thunder Resistance increase had completely shocked him.

In «Rebirth», the defense against magic was not defense, but rather resistance.  How high the resistance was would determine how much damage the attack would do. For example: If a person with 0 Fire Resistance took a hit that could deal 1000 damage, they would take full damage.  If a person had 50% Fire Resistance, the would only take 500 damage. A person with 100% Fire Resistance would take no damage at all. But in order to make things fair, the limit for resistance in «Rebirth» was 80% and anything past 80% could not be achieved.  Only a few of those powerful bosses would be able to completely negate damage.

But this Qilin’s Blessing had directly broken this limitation, forcefully bringing his Thunder Resistance to 100%.  No, it should be that it broke the upper limit of the Thunder Resistance because he found that his Thunder Resistance had reached 140%.

Having over 100% resistance meant that he absorbed damage.

“Ha, ha, ha, ha……Nemesis of thunder attributed mages!”  Feng Xiao gave a wild laugh.
