Chairman Husband, Too Boorish Chapter 3

Winter has already arrived in A-City. The first rays of the sun still cannot dispel the bitter cold. Winter is this city is especially cold.

A row of black cars were parked in front of the hotel entrance. By the side of the Bentley in the front stood a tall and straight male figure. He only wore a long woolen jacket. Heavy black eyes fixedly stared at the hotel's doors. He waited there until the hotel doors slowly opened. The sound of steady footsteps were heard.

A group of people walked out. At the head was a man with refined features with outstanding quality. For such a cold day, he only wore a smokey gray jacket. His imposing good looks had an uncharacteristic constant, slight and elegant smile. It was like a bold Chinese ink painting. If you didn't see his faint grandeur, you couldn't even tell he was A-City's business circle's talk of the town, Liang Xi Cheng.

"Chairman Liang." Guan Jiu[1] hurriedly moved forward, slightly dipped his head, stepped to the side, and deferentially opened the car door.

 Liang Xi Ching's slender fingers casually undid his suit's b.u.t.ton. Then he stopped and entered the car. Guan Jiu closed the door and went around the front of the car to get into the driver's seat.

"I apologize, Chairman Liang. I didn't know your grandfather would abruptly return. I interrupted your rest." Guan Jiu simultaneously started the engine while cautiously glancing in the rear-view mirror at the man sitting in the back.

Once Liang Xi Cheng sat down, he closed his eyes to rest. Last night he was restless the whole night. He didn't sleep well at all, so his mood was low. If it wasn't for his grandfather abruptly returning, he wouldn't have to get up so early to return home. "Drive."

He pinched his aching nose bridge and opened his eyes.

He was born with a pair of fine eyes, like autumn waters[2]. The slender corner of his eyes slightly turned up. In fact, his eyes seemed slightly feminine. However, his pupils were innately refined. With the two combined, the effect was enchanting[3].

Naturally, it was a suave enchantment[4].

"Chairman Liang, do you want to go straight to your grandfather's place?" Guan Jiu glanced at Liang Xi Cheng's clothes. His white s.h.i.+rt was wrinkled. Guan Jiu thought about it but still cautiously asked, "Do you want to go back to get a change of clothes?"

Liang Xi Cheng glanced down at his s.h.i.+rt. He suddenly remembered the female lying under him last night. His handsome, sharp eyebrows slightly lifted. He asked in reply, "The girl last night, how did that come about?"

He was from start to finish quite moral and keep his hands cleans. Apart from social niceties, he would never want an immoral woman. Guan Jiu, who was with him from the beginning, was very clear on this. So that's why he was certain the matter last night was arranged by a compet.i.tor, thinking they were being clever.

As expecteed, Guan Jiu's look changed. He was very surprised, "Apologies, Chairman Liang. I didn't know there was a woman in your room last night. Maybe it was from Chairman Li's side...."

"Forget it." Liang Xi Cheng waved his hand. Recalling that night's woman, there was no denying that hussy nevertheless quite suited his taste. In Chinese this is a poetic way of saying one's eyes are especially beautiful. It's usually only used to describe a female's eyes.
A quick tidbit: I used "a pair of fine eyes" on purpose! Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice described Elizabeth Bennet's eyes with that very same phrase. "A pair of pretty eyes" would work just as well, but I wanted to emphasize the femininity and strikingness of his eyes.

Oh boy, this is going to be a three part explanation. I wish my translation skills were better so I don't have to explain in footnotes.....
His pupils were innately refined:  In Asian cultures, masculinity is perceived differently from Western cultures. In the west, men are expected to be "manly", as in bulging muscles, beards, outwardly tough, etc. In the east, men aren't expected to be so evidently masculine. Facial hair isn't popular. Muscles aren't as "in your face"; I'm not saying they are weak, but there's isn't a cultural pressure to have very evident musculature. Instead a "sharpness" is expected: defined facial features and a certain air of how they carry themselves.  To sum it up, I'm using refinement to convey a more masculine connotation. In Ch 2, Liang Jing Shan was decribed using "delicate". I could've also used refined, but I want to use "delicate" to convey femininity and "refined" for masculinity. Let's see long I remember to do so! With the two combined:  The word used actually means "neutralized", but that doesn't flow as well. In any case, the effect of the shape of his eye and the effect of the eye itself cancels out.  The effect was enchanting:  Or do the two of them cancel out???? Because the word used can also mean alluring in the sense of describing a female! This is partially why I decided to used "combined" instead of "neutralized" above. It seems like he still has a pair of feminine eyes, so his eye shape and eye can't neutralize each other! I ended up using "enchanting" because I don't know what the author intends. Maybe my Chinese skills are too low......it probably is since I'm using a dictionary VERY extensively......(basically using it to translate everything....the shame.....)  In any case, he has really good-looking eyes. The end. 
[4] Naturally, it was a suave enchantment:
I should've read ahead instead of getting stuck on considering eyes like Mr. Darcy...... Literally, the sentence translates to "male's enchantment", which I take to mean a manly enchantment, a masculine connotation. Hence, the word "suave" which has that masculine connotation.
