Chapter 10: The Person With Bad Intentions

Location: Atlantis   Time: 2:31 PM

At almost the same time, the box with the last key was opened in senior Geng's hands.

"Lake Town's five teams have all been determined!" The announcer's voice echoed throughout the stage, causing quite a huge stir.

Soon after Leido's team got their key, jumped off the pillar and landed, the rest of those teams that also obtained the correct keys came down.

"Ten teams with ten keys, the second compet.i.tion is over." The huge sound declared the end of the compet.i.tion, and at the same time, the Sky Reaching Pillar disappeared into the ground on a grand and spectacular scale just like how it appeared. "The following teams are going to Lake Town: Atlantis Academy's first and second representative teams, Seven Hill Academy's representative team, Clear Wind Academy's first representative team as well as Alis Academy's representative team. And the teams going to Black Willow Ridge are as follows: Clear Wind Academy's second representative team, Evil Spirit Academy's representative team, Giya Academy's representative team, Barbulis Academy's representative team and Tiya Academy's representative team. The above total of ten teams will be transferred to the two locations at the third compet.i.tion's site. At that time, we will also make a report as soon as possible and invite specialists to explain. So those of you in the audience who are interested, please don't miss this."

Just as the announcer finished speaking, a golden streak of light suddenly shot out from out of nowhere. The surrounding sky instantly exploded with gorgeously vast waterfall fireworks. They sparkled and s.h.i.+ned, so beautiful to the extreme.

"Then I'll announce this at the same time, the second compet.i.tion has now come to an end!"

The waterfall fireworks spread throughout the entire venue, accompanied with the sounds of applause, and then ended.

After the announcer took a deep bow, the audience also began to disperse.

"Chu, let's go." Senior gave me a pat and then headed towards the exit.

I hurried to catch up. Since the second compet.i.tion has already ended, does this mean that starting from now, we can have free time?

"Yang~~" The five-colored rooster head suddenly leaned on me from behind, "Let's embark on a culinary trip now."

"I, I still have something to do. Maybe some other time." I don't want to embark on a culinary trip with you at all, boss. No matter how I think about it, that culinary trip is just going to become an overeating trip. I still don't want to be watched by pa.s.sersby like I'm a visitor from another world coming here to dine. "Sorry, you can go on without me."

"Tsk, a guy who doesn't know how to enjoy life."

I don't want to use my life to enjoy overeating, boss!

"Chu, later we'll be going straight to the medical team. After that, you can just leave on your own." Senior Gasai turned around and told me.

Medical team? Why would they need to go there all of a sudden? During the second compet.i.tion, didn't no one get hurt?

I secretly glanced at Senior. Sometimes it's better if I don't think too much.

"Then I'll go first to find something to eat, see ya." The five-colored rooster head, who was full of energy, quickly disappeared at the other end of the entrance.

"It's almost time for us to leave too. Then, Chu, tomorrow morning we'll gather in the player room to discuss the matters about the third compet.i.tion." Patting my shoulder, senior Gasai very politely said this and not long after, he and Senior also left.

Now, I was the only one left at the entrance.

After walking through the pa.s.sage, outside was the academy's landscaped garden.

Because the compet.i.tion had just ended, there were still many people coming and going in several groups. They were filled with interest, as they discussed how the next compet.i.tion is going to start and the like.

Right now I'm so relieved that I didn't wear the representative player's clothes. Otherwise, once I come out, I'll definitely be stared at by a group of people with strange gazes. I still don't want to be surrounded on the street and being asked questions or getting beaten up, especially if it's complete strangers.

At two plus in the afternoon, the sky was still very bright, and was far from being dinner time. Well, should I go somewhere to pa.s.s the time now or should I just return to the Black Dorm to play online games?

Andy seemed to be very busy during the compet.i.tion. I'm rather embarra.s.sed to look for him to spend his time teaching me spells and other homework.

I tried calling Chifuyu but his phone was shut off. Perhaps their team's still busy and he didn't have time to answer and the like. If that's so, then Ryan must be in the same situation too.

Since Chifuyu and the others are all busy, I feel embarra.s.sed to just find Miao Miao by myself. And besides, I heard that the medical team should also be very busy right now.

After thinking back and forth, I feel like going back to the Black Dorm to play video games would be more practical.

"Hey! The student over there!"

Just as I was about to head back to the Black Dorm to play games, someone suddenly tapped my shoulder from behind, and almost scared me. Fortunately, I've already been scared till I got used to it by a bunch of guys that likes scaring people. Unexpectedly, I actually didn't have those special reactions of screaming and running away.

I turned around, and standing behind me was someone I didn't recognize. That person was wearing casual clothes, and doesn't seem like a student from our school. Because during the compet.i.tion, nearly all the students in our school were wearing uniforms, other than the research and university departments. But the person in front of me wasn't wearing one. The point is, I noticed that he was wearing a school badge that was different from our school's.

That badge was very familiar.

"May I ask who you are?"

Except for Ran, I shouldn't have had any interactions with the people from other schools, right?

That person was smiling as if he was very familiar with me.

"Please let me introduce myself first. I am a student of Evil Spirit Academy."

Evil Spirit Academy…Isn't that the legendary, most notorious school? I personally think that what I should do now is to hurry up and get away from here. According to what I'd heard from different groups, getting involved with Evil Spirit Academy will definitely make you very unlucky.

"Oh, alright, I know, thank you, goodbye." Directly finished saying all the greetings at once, I hurriedly moved my feet to leave this student from the academy said to have the worst a.s.sessment.

The second I turned around, that Evil Spirit Academy student had already took a detour and appeared in front of me. "Ai, I didn't even do anything. There's no need for you to be that nervous. Not everyone in our school would always think about harming others."

I'm just afraid that you wouldn't do anything now but you would later on, you know. "Sorry…I have something to do so I don't have time. I'm sorry, please find someone else." I used the excuse that's used to ward off a salesperson on the street, and then wanted to pick up my pace to escape. I don't know why this person gave me a kind of creepy feeling. It made me feel rather uncomfortable and a bit unwilling to continue talking with him. Or maybe that's just my own misconception, since, after all, I didn't have such a good impression of their school's representative team either.

"The members of the representative teams shouldn't have anything to do in the afternoon." That student still didn't intend on letting me go, then he revealed a strange smile, "Isn't that right, Student Chu."

I'm shocked. I really am shocked. I look so much like a pa.s.serby that you can easily find in any place, and yet, there's actually someone who can recognize me!

I met a ghost!

"That's, our representative team still has some private matters. Sorry, I'm really busy, please excuse me." Randomly making up an excuse, I bypa.s.sed him and wanted to directly leave.

What does this guy want to do!? It's weird enough already, it can't be that he's going to take off his clothes in the next second, and say that he wants to show me his birdie!?

Recently I've seen on the news that a lot of strange uncles would do this. But I'm not a little MeiMei, even if he wants to show it to me, I wouldn't scream, turn around and then run away!

"Wait a minute." That person clutched my shoulder from behind, and then dragged me to a place with almost no one around.

At that moment, my entire shoulder became numb, and I felt unable to use any strength. My head also felt rather dizzy and uncomfortable. By the time I realized this, I'd already been hauled off to a remote area.

"Are all representative players so hard to get close to?" I heard that person's eerie laugh, causing my whole scalp to tingle. "And also, I never would've expected that a representative team's player would just blatantly come out and stroll around. That's simply telling everyone who's planning to do something, to do it to you, right?"

Now I regret it. I should've used a teleportation array to go back to the dorm. I met a pervert! Who can come and save me!?

He didn't say why he came and just talked about this and that and even blocked my path; it can't be that he really does want to show me his birdie or some other areas! I'm begging you, our school is so huge, don't just target me!

"I noticed you before in the previous matches." That person said something that stalkers would always say. "Do you remember when you were at Giya Academy? You seemed like you were very close with Alis Academy's twins, right?"

Giya? Is he referring to Leido and Yado?

"You should still remember that match of Alis Academy against Evil Spirit Academy, and the things that they did." Without waiting for me to speak, that person started happily talking to himself again.

That match against Evil Spirit Academy, I still remember it clearly, because it was the one match where Leido and Yado went berserk. It could also be regarded as a b.l.o.o.d.y match that was unsuitable for children below eighteen years old to watch.

"The first player to be killed by Alis Academy, is my girlfriend."

Every hair on me immediately stood up, "Wait a minute, you made a mistake…That person didn't die…"

"She didn't die, but because she was injured so severely, she had after-effects and would often be ill. I should find Alis Academy's players to settle this score, but they're too difficult to find. However, if I deal with you first, that can also be considered as a warning to them."

What the h.e.l.l does that have to do with me!?

"Obviously you guys were the ones that hurt Yido first!" Otherwise why would Yado have gotten so angry that he went crazy!?

"But it wasn't my girlfriend who did it."

He's quibbling! He's actually quibbling! Isn't that the same as whether your girlfriend did it or not!?

"It's normal to get hurt during the compet.i.tion, or else why didn't you tell your girlfriend not to partic.i.p.ate?" I started to feel a little angry. Sure enough, it's difficult to get through to the people of Evil Spirit Academy. It was clearly their fault, and yet now he wants to "righteously" find Yado and the others to settle the score. Yido's the real victim here, alright!?

My shoulder was suddenly tightly grasped. There was a kind of pain pa.s.sing through me as if my bones were being broken. I even heard "ka ka" sounds, and a chill came over my whole body. Having my shoulder broken seems to be very painful. In the past, I've only broken my hands and feet, and never had someone twist my shoulder like this before. I felt really afraid.

I regret this now. Just now, I should've followed the five-colored rooster head on his overeating trip. At least the worst that could happen was getting diarrhea until you die. It's still better than being held onto by an unreasonable pervert right now, while being unable to move and even having to be threatened.

"There's no need to quibble so much. I'll dispose of you now, and then send your corpse to Alis Academy's representative team lounge. Their expressions would definitely be very interesting." The one who's obviously quibbling is him, as he issued a cold laugh that caused me to have gooseb.u.mps. I know I'm screwed this time. After I revive, I'll certainly be K-ed off into the horizon to repent by Senior.

I was too careless. It's too late for me to even fight back.

A sharp pain suddenly came into my shoulder, and I tightly shut my eyes.

Grandma, your good grandson is about to obediently report to you over there.

"What are you trying to do to a student from our cla.s.s!?"

Just as I was silently missing my grandma, a voice abruptly sounded. Next, a couple of strange seemingly wind-like sounds came, and the sharp pain behind my shoulder instantly disappeared within a few seconds.

"What are you interfering for!?" I heard that quibbling person issuing a displeased growl.

Secretly opening my eyes a little, I saw a familiar figure. It's just that based on her strength, I don't know if she'd become my savior or the unlucky person who gets beaten up like me.

The cla.s.s rep, Olivia, who was wandering around in such a remote place for some unknown reason, folded her arms as she stood not too far away. "The one you're hurting is a student from the cla.s.s under my jurisdiction. If you want to hurt him, you'll first have to ask me, the cla.s.s representative." Normally, there wouldn't be a cla.s.s rep who says that the students are under her jurisdiction, dear cla.s.s rep.

"Hmph, little girl, are you trying to be some kind of hero, move aside!"

Coldly snorting through his nose, and completely looking down at the cla.s.s rep who knows how to launder money as well as making bets, that person disdainfully stepped toward me.

I suddenly remembered something. Why would our not-so-unified plus rebellious and difficult to discipline cla.s.s, including the five-colored rooster head, revere the cla.s.s rep so much to the point where they didn't even dare to oppose her?

Before I could even react, that person who was just about to walk towards me suddenly seemed as if something had seized him. He was then completely flung backwards by a huge force, and flung off to quite a long distance away. With a "peng" sound he fell on the ground, covered in dirt and looking extremely awkward.

"Before you act, you should first inquire the name and background of the little girl you're facing." Without making a single move at all, cla.s.s rep curved into a smile, the kind of elegant smile that not even half a person in the cla.s.s would dare to resist. "Olivia Skien. If you're still not satisfied, then you can continue to try again."

That person climbed up from the ground, and was going to rush toward her and attack out of anger, but the second he heard the cla.s.s rep's name, he totally froze. "Who are you to Yellis.h.!.+?"

"I'm his great-grandchild." The cla.s.s rep shrugged as if that was just an ordinary matter.

Hearing her answer, that person's face alternated between green and white. After considering for a long time, he left a couple of words, "Fine! You better remember this!" Once he finished saying that, he took only a few seconds to disappear right before us.

After the Evil Spirit Academy student who came with bad intentions had left, Olivia swept over to me. "Yang Yang, are you hurt?"

"Oh…I'm fine." Except for my shoulder aching a little, there's nothing wrong with me. "Thank you, otherwise I definitely would've died just now." Good thing the cla.s.s rep appeared right in time, or I really might've become a corpse to look for Yado and the others. It scared me to death.

"You're welcome, it wasn't a big deal. Now that it's the compet.i.tion period, there would be a lot of this sort of people appearing. You have to be careful and pay more attention. It's best if you don't walk, and instead use a teleportation charm as much as possible, so that you can reduce this kind of risk." The cla.s.s rep tucked her long hair behind her ears, and kind-heartedly told me, "Defense against others is something that you cannot do without, especially before the final compet.i.tion begins."

"Nn, I got it." I will obediently use teleportation charms to travel. After all, having this experience has already been horrible enough. I don't want to be treated as cannon fodder a second time.

After looking around for a while, Olivia nodded.

"That's right, who's that person he just mentioned?" I seemed to have heard some name just now, but it wasn't the cla.s.s rep's name. It felt like that was another person.

"Oh, that's…"

"Yellish Skien was once placed together with the famous figures as one of the seven fairy kings. After he had been laid to rest more than six hundred years ago, his children and grandchildren developed to become the largest royal clan among the fairy clans, achieving a series of super large businesses. And even till now, the descendants with the surname of Skien still have the protection of the giant G.o.ds. It's a clan that even aristocratic families wouldn't easily dare to go against." A certain voice directly cut off the cla.s.s rep's words, coolly entering our conversation. "This clan really is terrifying. There would be eight or nine out of ten of the descendants who become the present famous figures, so everyone reveres them."

I turned around, and saw the teacher, who's also said to revere the cla.s.s rep, appear behind us.

"Thank you for the compliment." Olivia's reply was very simple and straightforward.

"No, no, that's only what I should do." The homeroom teacher also made a Traditional Hand/Fist-Wrapping as he answered, and then walked over to our side. "Dear student, you certainly aren't ordinarily unlucky. Someone looks for another school to settle the score and somehow you'd still get involved with it."

[T/N: The fist wrapping was explained in V3C2 on j.a.ptem]

I also know that I'm unlucky. It's not like I wanted to be so unlucky, but there's really nothing I can do about me being so unlucky.

"I'll try my best to be more careful…" Otherwise, what else can I say? If he wanted to find me, what could I even do to him? No matter how I look at it, he's stronger than me. There's no doubt that all I could do is to be slaughtered by him.

"Since this incident occurred due to Alis Academy, I'll go inform them later, and while I do that, I'll look for the person in charge of Evil Spirit Academy and have a nice discussion about the price they'll have to pay for injuring the people in our cla.s.s." The cla.s.s rep stroked her chin, and at that moment, I seemed to have seen some kind of mysterious computer quickly typing out several arithmetic of astronomical figures in her head. "Yang Yang, do you want to have subsidy for medical expenses?"

"Uh, no thank you." It's just that my shoulder still hurts a little, but it should be fine after a while. There's no need to request for medical expenses from other people.

"Subsidy for mental trauma?" The cla.s.s rep added this sentence.

"I think I probably wouldn't need it…" I really don't dare to request expenses for mental trauma from Evil Spirit Academy…

"Alright then, since Yang Yang is so generous. Then including the handling fees for me to go negotiate, all of it will be transferred to our cla.s.s expenses." Cla.s.s rep shrugged, and said this very naturally.

…What's with the handling fees?

I suddenly had a I-know-where-the-huge-amount-of-cla.s.s-expenses-of-our-cla.s.s-had-come-about kind of feeling.

It turns out it was dug up from all around the world!

You should still be a first year in high school, right?

"Anyway, since we're already here, little cla.s.s rep and dear student, let's go for a quick afternoon tea before we send you back to the dorm." The very straightforward homeroom teacher put one arm around the cla.s.s rep's shoulder and one arm around mine, and then dragged both of us forward. "Now that it's the compet.i.tion period, there's no more d.a.m.n hard-to-correct student homework. Let's go, let's go. Teacher will treat you to a feast outside."

Didn't you say that you're very poor?

"Are we really going to have a feast?" Olivia curved into a rather strange smile.

"Uh, just a little better than usual."

I could see black lines and shadows cropping up on the back of the homeroom teacher's head. "Please do understand that teacher's wallet isn't very full. Have mercy on me, little cla.s.s rep."

Now I suspect that after the compet.i.tion ends, would the homeroom teacher be robbed of everything he had by the cla.s.s rep?

"My mercy will have to depend on teacher's sincerity."

The cla.s.s rep smiled unusually brilliantly.

In the end, contrary to the homeroom teacher's expectations, the cla.s.s rep simply knocked off a large sundae cup from him.

When it was time to pay, I saw the homeroom teacher let out a huge sigh of relief. It could be seen that he had been miserably robbed during this period of time.

"Yang Yang, this is for you." A large cup of something that should be fruit sorbet was placed before me on the table. The entirely vibrant cup was filled with beautiful colors, and doesn't feel that cheap either. Olivia, who led us to this beverage house in the left shopping street, sat down on the opposite seat. "This shop is one of the most well known shops that specially sells frozen beverages in the left shopping street. Whenever teacher and I were discussing matters about the cla.s.s, we would always come here to drink."

There's a free restaurant and you don't go there, but you come over here instead to make the teacher pay for it, right…I suddenly feel that our cla.s.s's rep has always been very daring to play the teacher for a fool.

"Dear student, want to talk about anything special that you've learned from joining the representative team?" Similarly holding a large cup of sorbet, teacher sat down beside me with a "peng" sound, causing my whole scalp to tingle for a moment.

"Uh, I don't have any special feelings about it." Other than wanting to roll my stuff up and run away, the rest of it is fine.

"Aih, how could you not have any special feelings? Teacher has seen every session of so many intraschool compet.i.tions. All those who got chosen felt extremely joyful, and you actually didn't have any feelings at all!? Dear student, it can't be that there's a broken nerve that needs to be fixed in your brain?"

The homeroom teacher placed his hand on my shoulder, and then started digging at his ice.

The nerves in my brain has already been broken for a long time…broken from being scared.

Wait a minute, there were intraschool compet.i.tions before the compet.i.tions? Why didn't I know about this matter? And I thought that it was the school which chooses the players.

"When did the school's intraschool compet.i.tion begin?" Looking across at the the cla.s.s rep, I really don't have the nerve to chat while facing the teacher.

"It probably began a long time ago. At the beginning of school, they would send letters to the students with robe levels in the school. Those who are interested would head towards the administrative center, and then the school would have integrations and actual field practices to select the team leaders from within. Next, the team leaders would find several people who they could partner with from the school's name list. It's not only limited to robe levels however. Once they compare their strengths, the team leaders would then pick out one or two people from within, and that forms a basic team." Olivia used a simple way to explain to me, but after listening to it, it seemed like a rather unfair method of choosing. "Although it is a little unfair to some extent, but instead of selecting strangers to partner up, it's better to let the team leader to select someone he's familiar with as a partner, so that the chances of winning would increase."

Oh, if you put it that way, that's also true…

"As for the method of choosing the backup players, I suppose Yang Yang should be very clear about it." The cla.s.s rep smiled slightly at me.

Of course I'm very clear about it. Ryan and the others have all gone through the selection, but I just don't know why I had to enter using such a supernatural way. Now, should I thank Sinla or should I go bind a gra.s.s doll to curse her? Since it was because of her beverages that I was able to enter.

"Nn, nn, I understand, thank you." Olivia smiled very politely and then nodded, "You're welcome."

"Aih, dear student, are you mixing well with the representative team?" The homeroom teacher finally withdrew his hand and then asked me.

"Uh, it should be considered as alright." Or else what can I say. Basically, I really am considered as doing alright in the representative team. Apart from buying beverages once or twice and opening the door, I didn't do any "odd jobs" at all, and the overall treatment is pretty good. I also received a precious set of clothing.

"Taking advantage of your youth to acc.u.mulate more experience is a good thing. Keep it up." The homeroom teacher suddenly smacked me on my back, almost smacking my internal organs out of my mouth.

Speaking of which, it was only after he smacked my back that I noticed my shoulder had recovered. It already stopped hurting.

"Oh, nn, I understand." It's just that this experience was really too horrible. I don't think I'll ever want to experience this again. After all, I'm an ordinary person who's only suitable to live as a civilian!

"If Yang Yang has any questions, you can ask us anytime." Olivia smiled at me, "Since a cla.s.s rep and homeroom teacher are there for students to ask questions, you don't need to be courteous."

Looking at the two people across and beside me, I cautiously nodded.

"Little boy, you don't have to be so timid." With a "pa" sound, the homeroom teacher directly smacked his hand down on my head and rubbed it hard. "Even if your cla.s.s is difficult to look after and very uncooperative, teacher wouldn't be stingy and not answer you."

Quickly holding my head that nearly had its scalp rubbed off, I forcefully nodded. "I understand."

Olivia held up the big cup in her hands, "Then let's wish that Yang Yang and all of our representative teams can obtain victory.

"Heh, that's right." The homeroom teacher also raised his cup and made the same action.

I hurriedly followed suit and held up my cup. The rims of our cups collided together and made a crisp sound.

"Cheers! Do your best!"
