VOLUME 7 CHAPTER 17: DON’T TELL ME THIS IS THE DECISION TO LEAVE OR STAY (2)

Liu Bei POV

As I looked at the serious expressions of the 3 of them, I couldn’t help but to feel surprised. It has been a long while since we spoke about this after all and I’m not a very steady person to begin with.

And because this isn’t the first time, I can’t just wave things away. I tried to calm my nerves down but I couldn’t look away from their gazes.

It wasn’t because of anything else, but because of how serious they were, to the point where it seemed like they would plead with me until I agree.

“… Umm, you’ve spoken with everyone about this already?”

“… *Nods*” “Everyone is largely of the same opinion as they wish to have our own territory after all.” “If we continue to stay in Jiangdong, our troop morale will plummet.”

The 3 gave very serious answers. Even xiao Yong uncharacteristically called me ‘lord’. Looks like I have to give this serious consideration.

But is it really okay? I thought as I looked outside, not to see the scenery, but to look in the direction of Bo Fu’s residence.

It’s been about a week or so since Bo Fu was in danger and I’ve been checking on her everyday but she hasn’t woken up yet. Zhou Yu had come to find me as well to ask if there was anything they could do, but I wasn’t of any help on this.

I plucked up my courage and asked Hua Tuo again but all she said was that she would wake up soon, but didn’t give a precise timing.

In any case, can I really just leave like that before Bo Fu has awoken? Wouldn’t it be a little inhumane to do so?

“I feel that we should wait for a while more. At least until Bo Fu wakes up.”

“And what if she never wakes up?” Zi Zhong asked immediately after I finished.

I looked at her, and could feel a deep-seated anger boiling in her eyes. The pretty eyes under her fine eyebrows seemed to be saying ‘this child cannot be reasoned with’ or something similar.

“… How could Bo Fu not wake up?”

My words were rather unreasonable but I was sure that she could wake up. Unless Yu Ji was lying to me of course, but I don’t believe she would do so.

“… Hai, it’s not as if I don’t understand how xiao Bei feels.” Xiao Yong said and uffles her hair as she continued, “It’s not as if we have to leave. But if we can only stay if my lord accepts Lord Sun Ce’s family seal.”

“Eh? What do you mean?”

Xiao Yong raised a finger as she continued, “Presently, what we wish for is to have oyr own territory and build a state. In these troubled times, no one wants to live as a wanderer. If my lord accepts the family seal, then it is the same as Jiangdong being ours. That way, our troops will be satisfied.”

“No, I will definitely not accept the seal.” I answered resolutely. I’d mentioned this before after all.

“Hai, I already guessed that xiao Bei would say as much.” Xiao Yong said as she shrugged. Seems like she never intended to convince me to take that path.

To be honest, I was aware that it was time that we left. It’s been 3 weeks since we came to Jiangdong, and it’s going to be a month already. We’ve lived comfortably here but we can’t stay here for long.

As someone who ought to rule over a third of the world, how could I possibly hide behind another ruler’s third and stay there. If Yu Ji hears of this, she will either lecture me or warn me.

Be it for personal or official reasons, I have to leave.

“Fine…” I slapped my thighs while sitting cross-legged to calm myself down before I continued, “Tell everyone to begin packing up. We’ll leave in 2 days.”

I can’t really resist them all that much. I don’t have reason on my side after all.

“… Un.” “Alright, I’ll begin start doing a count of our supplies and inventory.” “If you think about it, Jiangdong is blessed with abundance, so we should buy more necessities before we leave.”

Xiao Yong, that’s not really something worth mentioning right…

Though she looks really messy and lazy, her love for shopping and dressing up is no different from other girls.

“Un un, I’m counting on you all then.” I nodded. In the end, we’re still leaving before she wakes up.

I still feel guilty about leaving before Bo Fu wakes up. Zi Zhong and the rest won’t understand this feeling I’m having, the feeling you get when you help someone but not to the end. Naturally, I couldn’t tell them, and even if I did, they probably wouldn’t understand.

“We’ll put our lessons on hold for these 2 days then since my lord has to pack up as well. I’ll let Lord Zhao Yun know about this as well.”

“Un, alright.”

Zi Zhong got up and tidied her clothing as she made to leave. The other 2 followed suit as well. While Zi Zhong’s actions were dignified, Gong You’s were a little stiff while xiao Yong’s were a little lazy and messy.

On the other hand, I was rather surprised at my sudden vacation.

I looked up at Zi Zhong who was folding her arms across her chest, and felt that perhaps she gave me a vacation to allow me to alleviate my troubled feelings. Perhaps I’m just thinking too much, but I’m still grateful for it.

In any case, I should pay Bo Fu, Sun Quan and the rest a visit before I leave.

“My lord Liu Bei~” Just then, Guan Ping ran over as she called to me, her twin tails bouncing along the way.

“Ah, it’s Guan Ping. What’s the matter?”

I haven’t had much interaction with her but Yun Chang shares a lot of things about her with me so I’ve gotten to like her. She’s rather tall and big but she’s like a 12-13 year old kid inside.

She pointed at the outside as she continued, “My lord, someone is here to see you.”

Someone is here for me? I couldn’t think of who it might be and walked to the window and looked outside.

“It’s been a while, Imperial Uncle.”

I looked over, and what greeted me was that cute tiger skin hat. Because of how unique it was, I instantly knew who it was.

“Lord Sun Quan?!”
