Liu Bei POV
“Perhaps because the people by my side can only be happy when everyone in the world is happy.”
“I see,” Liu Biao nodded, “That ambition of yours is far too big.”
“Haha, I think so too. Please don’t take it too seriously, elder brother.”
It’s so big it’s a little silly.
Only those overpowered Mary Sues in light novels have the right to say such things. I may have transferred into another time/world, I have no divine abilities nor do I have any special knowledge so I probably can’t achieve anything close to my ambition.
But… It’s strange that my desire to save the world came from within myself, and not a.s.sumed ident.i.ty of Liu Bei.
Could it be that I’m being affected by a.s.suming the ident.i.ty of Liu Bei? I don’t know.
“Alright, since you said as much, I won’t take it too seriously.” Liu Biao said and shook his head before lowering his head and muttering as if to himself, “But I have to admit that, be it hero or villain, few are those who can say wholeheartedly that their ambition is to save the world.”
“Haha, elder brother is joking around again.”
“Like me for instance.”
“Eh?”
Liu Biao’s voice contained admiration as he said so. I looked over in surprise and saw Liu Biao looking up at the skies with hands behind his back.
“Not even once has the thought of saving the world crossed my mind.” He said and chuckled, “Even though I’m royalty, I’ve never thought about it. How tragic that is.”
“Elder brother has said too much.”
I really didn’t think that Liu Biao would continue this ludicrous conversation and take it so seriously so all I can do now is try to stop things from being too melancholic.
“That’s fine. Though I once wished that blood brother would serve the Great Han in a similar fas.h.i.+on as I have–” When he said this, he turned around and looked at me before raising his head and smiling, “But it now looks like the path that blood brother will take will be different from mine.”
“Elder brother…”
“But of course, for now you must help your elder brother with this little favour of guarding Xinye. Hahaha.” Liu Biao laughed heartily as he said so and continued walking with big strides.
In the end, that’s what it boils down to huh.
“Yes, I understand. Your blood brother will accomplish this without fail.”
“Un, I’ll leave it to you then.”
I saluted him as I gave my reply while Liu Biao turned and gave his affirmation.
At this time, Liu Biao’s expression was kindly. He looked at me as though he was looking at his own little brother, without a shred of suspicion in his eyes.
The topics of our discussion went by in a whir and were all nerve-wracking in nature. Within the blink of an eye, all 4 of us were back at the backdoor.
When we reached the doorway, I found that there were 2 guards there watching over the weapons the girls had left behind, the mini Green Dragon Crescent Blade and the pile of short spears.
“Go and get the carriage driver to come here.” Liu Biao’s smile had not yet faded away and he took out some money from his sleeve and pa.s.sed it to one of the guards, “Give this to him, tonight’s been hard on him.”
“Yes.” The guard gave a quiet reply and left thereafter.
Liu Biao shot the other guard a glance and he saluted before entering the courtyard. When I peered i

nto the courtyard, I could see no traces of that guard.
Looks like there were security personnel in Liu Biao’s residence after all. I just couldn’t detect their presence.
“Well then, blood brother, it’s rather late now so go home and get some rest.” He patted my shoulders as he said so. Looks like he isn’t so concerned with manners at this time.
“Though there weren’t very cordial moments in between, on a whole, I was glad to be able to discuss various things with blood brother.”
“Un, I too enjoyed my discussions with elder brother. Your blood brother is still lacking in many ways and I hope that elder brother can point me in the right direction where possible.”
Just don’t get so physical with me.
“Haha, what are you talking about? It was you who surprised me. Un, the good kind.” He said and patted my shoulders once more.
At this time, I was able to catch a glimpse of loneliness from within Liu Biao’s elated smile. A sort of loneliness that seemed like a self-imposed punishment.
“Aiya, elder brother, please don’t pay too much heed to what I said at the end.” I was rather embarra.s.sed about it as I feel that I am unable to actualise what I said.
“Un, and I don’t intend to as well.” Liu Biao said as he calmed himself down and paced about with his head lowered before raising his head and changing the topic, “With regards to the inheritance issue, I’ll think about it a little more. I really can’t decide at this point.”
“You still want to hand over your legacy to a son huh?” I smiled helplessly as I said so. Liu Biao too had a similar smile.
“Yes… Ah!” Just then, he exclaimed and stared fixedly at me.
“Umm… Elder brother? What’s the matter?”
“Ah, ahem.” Liu Biao regained his senses and lightly coughed as he feigned nonchalance as he asked, “Umm, blood brother, how old are you right now?”
“Un… Less than 20 I guess.”
“Are you married?”
“Ah, no no no, not yet. That’s still too early for me.”
I felt a little shy as I answered him and it showed a little on my face. I thought back to Yun Chang and Yi De and felt even more shy.
“Un…”
I raised my eyes and looked at Liu Biao and saw that he was sizing me up.
“Elder brother, what’s the matter?”
I really didn’t know what he was up to but it looks like he’s worried about my future with regards to marriage. Though it’s not like it’s a bad thing for an older brother to be worried about his little brother’s life, I do hope he doesn’t pry any further.
(As fellow royalty, it’s not like it can’t be done between a niece and an uncle…)
“Eh? What did elder brother just say?”
I heard Liu Biao softly muttering but because I was also in deep thought, I didn’t hear what he was muttering, and when I asked, he just waved his hands.
“No no no, it’s nothing, it’s nothing.” He said as he gave a mysterious smile, and he then whispered to me, “Work hard, Jing state might be yours in future.”
“Don’t joke around, elder brother. Don’t worry, I have no intention of taking Jing state by force.”
Ah, having to repeat myself over and over again is getting to me.
“I know, I know.” Liu Biao said as he gestured for me to calm down, his face still plastered with a bright smile.
“By the way, how about a meeting with Cong’er later? She’s completely different from Qi’er, you know~”
“Ah? Un… Okay.”
“Un, I’ll think about something then.”
I did give my affirmation but I don’t really understand what he’s driving at.
