Wizard's Tale Chapter 16

 

"Hurry up, Yana!"

Mydearestdeity! Ow Em Ji! My ghad! I sweated coldly while watching how Brylle fight that Warg. I feel so scared and I trembled nonstop.

A Warg is really gigantic. It is five times larger than a simple wolf. Its red eyes were glaring. It has sharp teeth and destructive claws. Its ferociousness could make one's hair stand.

Despite being huge, the monster was very agile. But Brylle didn't lose out to it.

This is my first witnessing him using his magic to fight and defend himself. He could knock it out from time to time but it was really powerful and not easily defeated.

I want to help him through whatever needed means so I decided to climb down but Brylle shouted at me again. "Don't climb down!" A s.h.i.+eld which the Warg was persistently trying to destroy was in front of him. "The Night Sparrow's feather! Get  a feather!"

I suddenly stared at the Yosuzume and finally understood everything. It looks pleased that the Warg was attacking Brylle. It hates men that's why it cries without stopping to attract more Wargs to flock him.

If Brylle couldn't deal with even one Warg, probably he would give in if they grew in number!

That was why I came into a decision. It's dangerous but I'm prepared to gamble with my life. Even if Brylle became angry, I'll carry this out. This time, I'll do this to help him.

"Hey!" I stole the Warg's attention. "Hey Warg!" At my second taunting, it finally looked up at me.

"Stop, Yana!" Brylle shouted in fury but it's all too late. I am now the monster's target as it charges to the tree where I am currently at.

Brylle had forcefully tried to s.n.a.t.c.h its aggro back to him but it's now determined to get me. It tackles the tree which caused it to violently sway.

I latched myself on a tree branch, but when the Warg tackled for the second time, it broke into half. The tree fell down, I also, and the Yosuzume's nest too.

"Yana!" Brylle is now using fire to attack the Warg but it didn't manage to stop the monster's ferocity. I crawled to the darkness and positioned myself under the broken tree stump in order to evade the Warg's sharp claws. I can't help but scream.

Nevertheless, I have a plan. I didn't do it just because I just felt like it or because I was just really an idiot. I have a plan and I have to make it work!

I searched for the Yosuzume and found it near its nest. It couldn't fly since its wings have been broken. Serves it right! Perhaps it's now regretting when it called for that monster's kinds.

The infuriating fact was, there's still no feather that has fallen out of that bird! I held the Night Sparrow but I'm only holding onto its nest.

"You're such a fool, Yana!" Brylle once again intercepted the Warg but this time, he was struck by its one paw and he was flung away. He collided to a tree's trunk and I know he was badly hurt because he found it difficult to stand up.

It would have been a pretty chance for the Warg to kill Brylle, but I won't let that happen! "Hey Warg!" I called it again and now I'm out in the open.

I noticed some black acc.u.mulating on the Bond Ring's crystal and it's getting bigger. But I don't care about Brylle's anger. This plan maybe stupid and suicidal, but I believe this will work!

When the Warg neared me, it's gigantic paw swiped at me. It pushed me down on the ground and now its mouth is nearing my weakening body.

"Yana!"

"Is this my end?" I asked myself.

However, the Warg's movement paused - as if puzzled. When it released its paw off of me, the deal Night Sparrow was attach on it.

"We cannot touch a Night Sparrow 'cause if we do that, we'll be cursed to have severe night-blindness." That's what Brylle had said.

And when the Warg's paw touched the Yosuzume, the curse of night-blindness started working on it.

I can finally smile. Feathers littered the ground so I picked one up. Actually, I picked more than one and rolled them inside my s.h.i.+rt so that they won't fall off. I forced myself to stand in order to get away but I couldn't because my body is hurting all over.

To my relief, Brylle had managed to approach me and then carried me. His arm was bleeding but he acted as if it doesn't hurt. This is the best time to escape while the Warg is still wildly stomping as it was confused why it suddenly became blind.

"Brylle, I'm sorry." Sorry because his face showed obvious worry.

"Let's go." While carrying me, the ground we're at lit up. We're now inside a magical circle and it's a portal to travel back to the Mortal World.

I'm glad that we managed to get back to the Mortal World. I sighed in relief because we're no longer inside the Atrum Forest and the Warg is no longer in sight. Brylle is still carrying me and he's hastening to the mansion.

"Brylle - "

"Shut up Yana!"

"Here's the - " I suddenly shut my eyes because of the sudden pain. But I'm happy for the glimmering feather on my hand. "Here's the feather, Brylle."

Without speaking up, Brylle had only looked at me. He's angry. He's very mad and it's obvious since half of my crystal turns black.

When we get back to the mansion, he gently laid me down the sofa. Then he collapsed on the floor. Both of us feel terrible, but he's much more worn out. "Vander!" He still managed to shout while holding onto his side with his eyes shut.

"Master Brylle... My master!" Vander is panicking when he saw our state. He saw I am also wounded so he couldn't decide who to help first. "Warg attack! Warg attack! Warg attack!" He shouted in panic.

"Yeah..." We answered in unison.

"Heal Yana first." Brylle commanded as if pointed towards my side which has a huge wound.

"No! Your arm's severely wounded. You also lost so much blood. Vander, treat him first!"

"Don't argue with me!"

"You shut up!"

"You're making me more angry!"

"You're more tired!"

"Enough! Enough! Enough!" Vander stopped us. "Dactyls! I'll summon Dactyls!" Then Vander suddenly vanished in front of us. What are Dactyls?

We both remained quiet. But when I glanced at Brylle, he's obviously in a much more difficult situation. He's enduring while leaning on the sofa where I was at.

"Brylle..."

"What were you thinking?" I can feel the anger in his voice. "Didn't I say to you - "

"I'm still alive. We're both alive. And because of what I did, we got what you need."

"And you think I'll let you risk your life just to get this?" Brylle s.n.a.t.c.hed the Yosuzume feather from me and put it down on the table in a brusque manner. "The next time you do something so stupid, make sure there's no one around you worrying for your safety!"

I suddenly went silent because of his words. And I was somehow moved. "If I didn't do that, you'll be the one to get hurt. I needed to help you that time."

"Did I ask for you help?"

"YES! That's why you brought me to that place, right? I just don't want something bad to happen to you Brylle because - " I suddenly stopped what I was saying.

It's because Vander came back and he's with creatures which are almost the size of my finger. They are probably the so called Dactyls.

"Dactyls are healing magicians, Yana. Just wait a while and you'll be fully healed" Then Vander made Brylle sit down on a chair so he would get into a more comfortable position.

The Dactyl groups moved simultaneously to heal the two of us. After a while, my eyes went heavy and I fell asleep.
