Chapter 3.2

This kind of cold situation made my hair stand on end. There were only two explanations for Yin Li’s current display of a tolerant att.i.tude towards me. If it wasn’t him having done something heinous to me prior to my memory loss and wanting to make it up to me now, then it was me doing something of unprecedented brutality to him and he was preparing to slowly support me and then deal with me later.

He owes me or I owe him.

These two settings were both far from good. Regarding the silence between the two of us at the moment, I was a little more restless than before. Ultimately, with no better option, the quiet situation was broken by two ear-piercing, hollow laughs: “In short, you’ll be the “deeply pa.s.sionate and righteous” one and I’ll be the “contemptible and shameless” one. Taking a knife, climbing down mountains, and crossing flames and seas for you, I’ll do it all.” (T/N: Think wuxia/xianxia brotherhood bonds – minus the wine)

Yin Li lowered his eyelashes with an “oh” and then stood up: “I’ll bring you to see your room so you can familiarize yourself with the layout of the house.” It was like my fervent speech just now was a fart.

But it was also at that moment that I finally began carefully looking at the house. There weren’t complicated rococo court styled decorations, but rather simple European styled ones. This was a kind of calm and reserved eminence and unapproachability as opposed to the kind of easy choosings of poise and luxury by the mundane world of rococo.

For convenience, my room was on the first floor. That could basically be said to be a small, stand-alone apartment building. Inside there was a living room, a bedroom, and a bathroom, as well as a garden. Furthermore, all the facilities were built with a disabled person in mind. When I was pushed into the room by Yin Li, I spotted a mirror tilting downwards at a 45 degree angle on the wall. It just so happened to reflect the image of me sitting atop the wheelchair, my eyes s.h.i.+ning from seeing the silver-edged picture frames.

Yin Li asked me: “Are you satisfied?”

I gazed at the bedroom in front of me that seemed to be filled with money and didn’t turn my head as I nodded: “I like it! I like it very much! It’s captured my heart! It’s a reward!”

Yin Li stared blankly for a moment before his voice rose up again: “Yan Xiao, taking a knife, climbing down mountains, and crossing flames and seas for you.” He said these words in a kind of low mumble, “Remember the words you said before.” His tone had turned dangerously downcast and seemed to contain some kind of warning while the me who was immersed within the feelings of muddle-headed bliss was too busy to take any consideration of it at all.

Afterwards, Yin Li took me to the other side of the first floor. It was a rehabilitation room that was unexpectedly even bigger than the one at the hospital, complete with equipment. Then he simply told me that he stayed on the second floor and that if there was anything I needed, I could dial the inner line telephone. Usually, there would be a nursemaid and bodyguard coming to take care of my everyday life. After that, he received a phone call and simply left.

I stayed in my bedroom the entire afternoon, stroking that doork.n.o.b and looking at that silverware. It was like this place was my imperial palace. Then in the evening, I personally went to my back garden. (T/N: she says it in a way that would normally be used to describe an emperor visiting his concubines to do the deed >/////<>

Controlling the electric powered wheelchair, I entered the garden. Within the setting sunlight, I experienced my territory to my heart’s content until a trace of an inharmonious sound and odor interrupted my thoughts. I furrowed my brows.

The sound came from the shrubbery a few meters in the distance, swish swish, swoosh swoosh. It was accompanied by the pungent smell of oil paints. I opened my eyes wide.

A smartly dressed man was standing at a corner of the shrubbery. His hair slightly fell atop his face. He stood within the projection of the sunlight while bearing a bit of a dazed and stumped expression. His loose necktie hung down and his s.h.i.+rt’s b.u.t.tonholes were perfectly unb.u.t.toned up to the third b.u.t.ton, only revealing a small part of his chest to elicit people into having wild and fanciful thoughts. If it weren’t for the bucket of red paint in his hand, his trouser leg being tainted with spilled over paint, and him stamping his foot while cursing “ F***”, I really would have believed that him and his bewitching expression were both equally innocent and respectable.

He appeared to be pleased by my sudden appearance and happily shook his head. After putting down the bucket of paint, he faced me and sent a friendly and enthusiastic wave: “Very good! Can you tell me how to write the Yin in Yin Li?” Then, with good intentions he explained: “It’s like this. I wanted to write on this wall, but then I suddenly couldn’t remember how to write Yin Li’s name. Being able to meet you is just too great. Oh, by the way, you know Yin Li right? He’s that well-dressed, cultured, and degenerate beast of a man that lives in this house.”
