Primordial Blood Throne: Book 1 Chapter 5 - Lie
Hi people, here's the first chapter of this week. Cheers!
Cuppa
News about Su Chen recovering his sight spread like wildfire within the Su Family.
As each new listener spread word immediately, the whole family began to boil in excitement.
Some found joy in the news, while others, experienced disappointment.
The courtyard outside his accommodations, that was unfrequented after he lost his sight, had once again started to become crowded. The Su Family's patriarch, Su Chang Che personally came to visit his grandson, holding his grandson's hand while having a warming conversation. After that, the elders within the family also paid him a visit, finally, his uncles from the main and branch families.
Su Ke Ji even brought gifts while visiting Su Chen, he spoke at length with Su Chen, even saying stuff like "knowing Chen'er has regained his sights, I was so happy that I drank more cups of wine that night."
Su Chen felt helpless when he heard him and said, "Second Uncle, even if you said as much, why do you keep waving your hand in front of me?"
Su Ke Ji laughed at the sky, he stopped his hand and use it to pat Su Chen's shoulders instead and said, "Nephew, rest well", before leaving.
That night, Su Chen heard that a young servant accidently broke a bowl, causing Su Ke Ji to fly into rage, nearly beating that young servant to death.
The idea to change the evaluation method had also been discarded, and without Su Cheng An agreeing to it, Su Ke Ji would have no way of making it happen.
There was no point doing it now anyway.
Two months later, the year-end compet.i.tion began.
Su Chen received first place without any issue and obtained a bottle of "Green Wood's Spirit" personally from the patriarch.
To the north of Lin Bei City was a mountain named Eight Corner Mountain; on its mountain peak was a mysterious tree called the Green Flower Tree. This tree would flower once a year; and the flower dew within contained a mysterious effect; when applied, it had the effect of enhancing circulation and strengthening the body. This dew was called Green Wood's Spirit.
As the tree only flowered for half a month, the amount of flower dew collected was limited, therefore only three bottles were produced yearly.
The Eight Corner Mountain belongs to the Su Family; therefore, they had a monopoly on Green Wood's Spirit. One can even say that the rise of the Su Family was greatly linked with Green Wood's Spirit. Every year, the Su Family would sell two bottles and retain one for the most outstanding heirs within the family to use.
In recent years, being the most outstanding within the third-generation, Su Chen had always been the recipient of the Green Wood's Spirit. It can also be said that the reason the Su Chen could achieve his current progress with a handicapped body was mainly because of this Green Wood's Spirit.
This is also why Su Ke Ji strongly coveted it.
Previously when Su Chen's body is well, he can only be envious and cannot do anything about it. Now that Su Chen is blind, he felt that it has been a great waste for Su Chen to have used them. How he wished that he could turn back time and s.n.a.t.c.h all the bottles Su Chen have used and give it to his son instead.
However, what's lost is lost, no matter the reason, seeing Su Chen holding on to that jade bottle, Su Ke Ji understood, he had once again lost a chance.
And there aren't much chances left also.
Time flies like an arrow, a few months has pa.s.sed.
Su Chen was currently in his courtyard practicing Blazing Tiger Fist. This is a fist technique that his grandfather had pa.s.sed down to the descendants of the Su Family. The technique was firm and ferocious, its might nowhere weak. To further improve the strength of this technique, the Su Patriarch, Su Chang Che spent an immense fortune to purchase a Blazing Flame Tiger's Blood Spirit Potion. This allowed him to possess the bloodline of the Blazing Flame Tiger and pushed him to the Sun Initiation Realm, becoming the pillar of the Su Family.
Su Chen threw one hit after another towards the iron pillar wrapped in tree bark that was in front of him; his attacks caused the iron pillar to constantly release a dull knocking sound. Due to his loss of sight, he was exceptionally careful with his posture and movements, every action taken seemed to be measured by a ruler, although he constantly went forth and back but his direction never deviated.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});As the 'Ferocious Tiger Descends the Mountain' landed on the iron pillar, a rumbling sound echoed and the tree bark wrapped around the pillar cracked and fell. Not only did Su Chen leave a fist-shaped imprint on the iron pillar, the pillar was also crooked by a few degrees.
"Nice punch!" a praise came from behind him.
Su Chen revealed a smile: "Third Uncle"
A person entered the courtyard. He had a majestic appearance and was middle-aged, and a graceful bearing. Above the corners of his mouth were two small moustaches, coupled with his bright eyes, he easily could attract a person's attention.
This is Su Family's Third Son, Su Fei Hu.
Among the members within the Su Family, Su Fei Hu was considered to have the closest relations with Su Chen, after Su Chen loss his sights, Su Fei Hu personally abducted the top ten doctors within Lin Bei City in a bid to cure him, causing an uproar within the city for that period of time, however, everyone knew that the Third Son of the Su Family has always been domineering in his ways, therefore the others could do nothing about it.
Su Fei Hu approached with wide steps and stood beside Su Chen, he looked at him and said: "It looks like you will be entering the eighth layer soon, your speed is very fast."
"Fast?" Su Chen smiled bitterly: "I actually felt that it is too slow. If not for my eyes, I might have either reached Ninth Layer Forged Body or not far from it by now."
Only he himself truly understood what was the impact the loss of vision has on him.
Others might see his attacks to be filled with power and vigor but this was something that took him two years of time to slowly achieve.
He had paid a heavy price just to allow himself to perform these normal actions.
Su Fei Hu understood his feelings. He patted Su Chen's shoulder and sighed, "Being able to achieve till this level is already very good. The Su Family should be proud to have a descendant like you.
"Yet, they will not become magnanimous just because of this, right?" Su Chen asked.
Su Fei Hu paused for a moment, "You know?"
Su Chen's tone dropped a few degrees: "The rumors are spreading, I am after all blind. I might not be good with certain things but my ears are very well trained…they are finally feeling impatient."
Indeed, the Su Family was getting impatient.
Over the half year, the members of the family have been waiting for Su Chen's eyes to completely recover but what awaited them was only disappointment.
Some people were beginning to feel unhappy - if unable to recover properly, then it is just another genius that would not reach his full potential; there was no meaning.
Su Fei Hu replied with a tone containing some anger: "Su Ke Ji is jumping up and down, accusing you of lying to the family from the start, that you have never regained your sight in the first place. That bunch of weak old fools within the family all agreed to his suggestion, to perform a test after sealing your hearing."
Testing without his hearing, this is a formal test of Su Chen's sight, by sealing his hearing ability, it can ensure the accuracy of the results.
This suggestion was actually brought up by Su Ke Ji since a few months ago, however, the Su Patriarch did not agree to it.
Although the test was nothing complex but doing so will represent that they do not trust their heirs.
Su Chen was not an unworthy heir, to the contrary, he was a very outstanding one. There was no reason for the family to do this.
However, half a year went by and there was no further news, and the suppressed voice has once again been raised, this time, even the patriarch was unable to stop it.
"That means to say, the clan wishes for me to undergo the test?" Su Chen asked.
"Yes, they want me to inform you."
Pa!
The wooden bark in Su Chen's hand was crushed, his hands trembling slightly.
After a deep breath, he calmed the great waves within his heart, using an exceptionally peaceful tone: "Then I will have to trouble Third Uncle to return and inform them that there is no need to test."
"What?" Su Fei Hu did not understand immediately.
Su Chen replied: "I indeed have lied…… my eyes have never improved."
