* Of this sum, 174, 19s, 9d., there was due by 13 men, the crew of one unsuccessful vessel, 105, 14s. 4d. The fishery of 1871 was comparatively a failure, and left many of the men in debt; while the previous year was very good, and the men were nearly all clear.
