The sky gradually darkened and the billowing clouds appeared increasingly dense, giving rise to a suffocating atmosphere.
While Frost Moon laid by Li Jiayu’s side, it shone with a neon ice-blue l.u.s.ter. Although it was not too bright, it reflected upon Hsiao Wanqing’s charming face and added a layer of jade-like mildness to her face. Her amorous glance drifted about as her soft body leaned tightly against Li Jiayu and emitted a delicate fragrance.
Li Jiayu’s eyelids stirred. His eyes opened as he exhaled of a mouthful of air,
“Did I sleep for long?”
“No, roughly just 20 minutes. Rest a little while more.” Hsiao Wanqing said with a smile.
“There’s no need! I’ve recovered.”
Li Jiayu had once plundered a certain spirit meditation technique from a Bone Devil. It contained the effects of recovery and added five times the effect of the user’s sleep!
In other words, Li Jiayu had, in fact, slept for two hours!
Additionally, with Hsiao Wanqing’s sacred light, whether it was physical or spiritual energy, they had both recovered at least 70-80%. So, it was sufficient for the time being!
Furthermore, they had to act with haste. Otherwise, if they dragged on till the sky darkened completely, there would undoubtedly be trouble.
“Prepare yourselves! The Crimson Crowned Beetles on the third story must have gotten bored after was.h.i.+ng their necks clean, right?”
The rejuvenated Li Jiayu left Hsiao Wanqing’s embrace. His gaze had regained its usual sharpness, emanating once more an astonis.h.i.+ng chill and blood thirst. Stretching out his hand, he grasped Frost Moon and flicked the blade with a finger, causing it issue a “Ding~” screech.
“Let’s go.”
Li Jiayu held Hsiao Wanqing’s delicate hand, which was so soft that it seemed boneless. Their palms came into contact and it felt as though an electric current was squirming through.
In fact, Li Jiayu knew that Hsiao Wanqing was exhausted from the continuous release of her Sacred Light. However, there was nothing that could be done. Hsiao Wanqing was the Priestess of Radiance; she was a character that would appear on the battlefield in the future. So, she needed to learn how to face all kinds of dangerous situations. That was the reason why Li Jiayu began to nurture her for war. It did not matter if she was slightly exhausted. Li Jiayu would be there to protect her anyway, so there was no immediate danger.
After opening the door, they saw the crew waiting right outside. When they noticed Li Jiayu holding onto Hsiao Wanqing’s hand, their gazes flickered, but they remained silent and treated it as though they had seen nothing.
“Sorry for the delay, let’s go.”
Li Jiayu led the team and swept all the way down to the third story! This particular floor contained more Crimson Crowned Beetles and based on the sounds alone, there seemed to be five to six of them. Dealing with them would be slightly exhausting because he was usually wary of startling them and causing the crew to get swarmed.
However, everything would be different now! Li Jiayu was not worried in the least because he had a new treasure!
Tapping the Sand Gourd strapped to his side, Li Jiayu said,
“In a military campaign, when one’s troops are outnumbered, it is only natural to split up the enemy before taking them down individually.
“Therefore, we should first attract the attention of two beetles, lure them into our trap, then unleash our a.s.sault. However, we must take them down within five seconds. That way, we’ll be able to confront the remaining four slowly.”
“It’s easier said then done… The problem lies in luring the two Crimson Crowned Beetles over. What if three or four come? Are you able to you control the number of monsters in which you can attract?” Ran Hongxia said,
“Naturally, I understand the Crimson Crowned Beetles very clearly… With the addition of this Sand Gourd of mine, it’s certain that everything will be smooth sailing!”
Having said that, Li Jiayu guided his spiritual energy toward the Sand Gourd hanging by his waist. Next, wisps of sand flew out from the opening. Li Jiayu focused and the sand scattered. It spun in mid-air, churning incessantly, seemingly life-like.
“Eye of Sand!”
Li Jiayu yelled. The yellow sand condensed into a ball, then astonis.h.i.+ngly, the middle of the sand ball caved in and a deathly pale eyeball emerged!
Everyone gasped at the miraculous sight!
'The ball of sand actually grew an eyeball?'
'This is adverse to scientific knowledge...'
“Hmm? It actually worked.”
Li Jiayu was ecstatic. He felt as though he had gained a third viewpoint as his field of view had now expanded greatly!
‘G.o.d, this Sand Gourd is seriously wonderful!’
This Sand Eye technique was very useful as both a form of sight and a standalone skill. Li Jiayu could even change careers into a scout now!
However, it wasn’t the time to switch careers. Li Jiayu fished out the Golden Ladybug’s carca.s.s from his pocket and whirled it in mid-air with the sand. The ladybug danced in the air and vanished from everyone’s sights, flying straight into a cla.s.sroom.
For the Crimson Crowned Beetles, the Golden Ladybug possessed a fatal attractiveness. Even in their dreams, the beetles wished for an insect partner… So, even if it was dead, they would still be thrilled.
At present, the bait had completely captured the attention of a Crimson Crowned Beetle. It's six appendages wriggled as it chased the ladybug with terrifying speed.
However, because it flew at such a high height, the Crimson Crowned Beetle could not catch it. Helpless, it could only follow the ladybug into another cla.s.sroom. In that cla.s.sroom, another excited Crimson Crowned Beetle resided there and it soon joined the pursuit!
Li Jiayu lured the Crimson Crowned Beetles all the way to the corner of the stairway. Without thinking it through, the two insects trailed behind with haste. However, at this moment, the ambush team leaped out from their hiding spots!
With lightning-speed, they smashed one of the Crimson Crowned Beetles dead! Simultaneously, Dark Octopus had suppressed the other Crimson Crowned Beetle, After only struggling for a few times, it was immediately dealt with by Li Jiayu and his crew!
In less than 5 seconds, two Crimson Crowned Beetles had been defeated with ease!
There was no longer any need to fight recklessly through resorting to using obstructions, control tactics and so on. They could now simply ambush the insects directly!
Sneak attacks were the most effortless and effective tactic.
Everything was credited to the Sand Gourd. If they did not have the a.s.sistance of this treasure, everything would not have gone this smoothly.
The mournful shrieks of the fallen insects alerted the other four of their kind. Realizing a change in the situation, the insects immediately slipped out from whatever they had been doing and scuttled out of the cla.s.sroom.
Screech!
The Crimson Crowned Beetles roared and rushed toward the stairway, but when they reached their destination, they noticed something floating in the air. It was the Golden Ladybug!
The four Crimson Crowned Beetles froze on the spot!
Creak~
A slightly more intelligent Crimson Crowned Beetle let out a warning signal, reminding its companions that they should go for the enemies first and seek vengeance for their companions. However, before it could finish the signal, the ball of sand hovering above it scattered a small portion of sand and pasted a yellow-colored talisman on the Crimson Crowned Beetle’s head!
This red beetle looked at it distractedly/blankly, clearly thinking the talisman was an ordinary leaf, but why had this “leaf” caught fire?
In the next instance, a loud bang resounded and a crimson blaze of blood and fire burst out. An intense explosion had erupted right above its skull, emitting thick, black smoke.
That Crimson Crowned Beetle had half of its skull blown off completely, exposing the charred brain within. Its big body swayed several times before falling to the ground, utterly and completely dead!
The explosion caused by the Explosive Tag contained quite an impressive force. It even created an intense shockwave that sent the other Crimson Crowned Beetles in the vicinity cras.h.i.+ng to the ground!
Li Jiayu and his crew launched another surprise attack once again, killing an overturned Crimson Crowned Beetle that had been wriggling its six limbs continuously. Then while Dark Octopus was suppressing another Crimson Crowned Beetle, Sand Gourd came to deal with the remaining Crimson Crowned Beetle!
Sand Gourd relieved itself of the Sand Eye state, turned into an exceptionally nimble sand whip and proceeded to bind the last Crimson Crowned Beetle’s four limbs smoothly!
In this way, the remaining two Crimson Crowned Beetles were at their wits’ end and could only wait obediently for their deaths!
Equipped with Sand Gourd, Li Jiayu and group’s extermination of the Crimson Crowned Beetles was sped up significantly. Coupled with Explosive Tags, they could deal with 4 Crimson Crowned Beetles at once and sweep down easily towards the 2nd story. It was to the extent that they did not even fear the 10 Crimson Crowned Beetles on the 1st story!
Rumble, rumble...
Two explosions set off by the Explosive Tags declared the complete liberation of the school building. Every insect that had invaded it had been eliminated and not a single insect had been left alive!
