Chapter 31: Zhong Shan Waits Until the Last Moment

 

Miao Xianren deftly raised his sword to meet the Silver Jiangs.h.i.+’s palm strike. He used all the genuine energy he could muster on such a short notice to block.

“Hong~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~”

Amidst a loud boom, Miao Xianren flew backwards. As he was in the air, he turned his sword into a flying sword to carry him up.

The moment he flew up, Miao Xianren rejoiced seeing another Silver Jiangs.h.i.+ appear at where he was just at.

Like Coppy Jians.h.i.+, Silver Jiangs.h.i.+ couldn’t fly. Silver Jiangs.h.i.+ were more advanced versions of the Copper Jiangs.h.i.+. Only when a Silver Jiangs.h.i.+ evolved into a Gold Jiangs.h.i.+, could they fly.

The strength of the Copper Jiangs.h.i.+ was equivalent to someone at the early stage of the Gold Core. A Silver Jiangs.h.i.+ was about at the early stage of the Nascent Soul. But it was just in terms of power, not ability, since neither of them couldn’t fly.

Miao Xianren began circling in the sky on his sword and peered down with a cold glare. He wiped off the blood from the corner of his mouth, his hatred for the robed man grew.

In the meantime, said black robed man slowly stood and looked upwards just as coldly.

Three Silver Jiangs.h.i.+ circled around the black robed man to protect him.

His hair hung down loosely, the heart was still in his hand.  He continued to glare daggers at Miao Xianren.

The black robed man might not be as powerful as Miao Xianren, but there wasn’t much of a difference in strength. He could fly too, but he had no reason to chase him?

Miao Xianren pointed his sword downwards and hundred of energy swords fired like arrows towards the black robed man. Though he wasn’t as powerful as Miao Xianren, he could manipulate the Silver Jiangs.h.i.+. One Silver Jiangs.h.i.+ jumped in front of the energy swords, forming a strong Jiangs.h.i.+ s.h.i.+eld outside its body. A ma.s.s of green gas formed into a large s.h.i.+eld in the air.

“Pong, pong, pong………………..”

A flurry of energy swords smashed into the Jiangs.h.i.+ s.h.i.+eld, each disappearing into thin air without leaving a scratch.

Miao Xianren was a vicious man as well, he would do anything to reach his goal. Though there were three Silver Jiangs.h.i.+, he thought he could still handle them. Since the jiangs.h.i.+ were all controlled by the black robed man, if the black robed man died, then the Silver Jiangs.h.i.+ would disperse on its own.

As long as he could kill the black robed man, then everything would be under control. He formed another huge Sword s.h.i.+eld and viciously slashed towards the black robed man. Perhaps his swordsmans.h.i.+p was superior, as the Sword s.h.i.+eld pierced through the Jiangs.h.i.+ s.h.i.+eld.

“Ci~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~”

The Sword s.h.i.+eld broke through the Jiangs.h.i.+ s.h.i.+eld and continued straight at the black robed man with tremendous power.

The thirty meter Sword s.h.i.+eld grew after piercing the Jiangs.h.i.+ s.h.i.+eld, reaching right in front of the black robed man in no time.

“Dang~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~”

A Silver Jiangs.h.i.+ blocked the powerful sword right in front of the black robed man. It had such a strong body that the powerful sword only tore a small hole through the cloth, revealing the silver body inside.

Seeing the attack fail, Miao Xianren used the momentum to flee back into the air.

Three Silver Jiangs.h.i.+?

The three Silver Jiangs.h.i.+ formed an impenetrable wall. Miao Xianren fought for the next two hours with minimal result. The black robed man didn’t even have a scratch on him.

Miao Xianren wasn’t in a rush. Though he hadn’t wounded the black robed man yet, he was still on the offensive while they were on the defensive. Sooner or later, the defense would break down. He continued to circled around the three grounded Silver Jiangs.h.i.+.

Perhaps he was tired of being hara.s.sed, the black robed man reached the limit of his patience for such an annoyance. His eyes darkened and blood red mist slowly flowed from the heart in his hand.

Zhong Shan could tell that the black robed man was prepared to use his trump card. Miao Xianren certainly was fully aware of that as well. When the b.l.o.o.d.y mist appeared, the three Silver Jiangs.h.i.+ seemed to relax a bit. Miao Xianren, eyes brightened as he seized the opportunity to slash down from the air with full force.

Before the sword reached its target, the energy swords had already reached the jiangs.h.i.+ and the three Silver Jiangs.h.i.+ were slow to react. There was no Jiangs.h.i.+ s.h.i.+eld as before and the energy swords were about to strike the black robed man.

However, the black robed man, with eyes fixed on the energy swords, seemed entirely unconcerned. He squinted his eyes instead.

Zhong Shan was delighted to see the black robed man’s reaction. Just as the Copper Jiangs.h.i.+ had caught up with him, Zhong Shan darted like there’s no tomorrow back towards the black robed man.

Miao Xianren noticed the black robed man’s expression but couldn’t figure out what it meant.

Just as the energy swords were about to touch the skin of the black robed man’s head.

“Pong~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~”

The energy swords ricocheted out of the way by a wave of formless energy.

There was a large amount of dark golden mist that creepily permeated next to the black robed man. The energy swords scattered as they touched the dark gold mist.

Miao Xianren saw what had happened below his sword in mid air and abruptly flew to the other side with panic in his eyes.

Right in front of the black robed man, there was another figure wrapped in white cloth floating  up from the ground. Though only the head could be seen at the time, but the eerie and dreadful dark gold mist was emanating out of it.

“Gold Jiangs.h.i.+. How can you control a Gold Jiangs.h.i.+?” Miao Xianren called out in fright from the air.

It was at that moment that the Gold Jiangs.h.i.+ emerged from the ground and shot into the sky.

“Pong~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~”

Miao Xianren received a heavy blow and was sent flying even higher. The palm strike to his chest had torn his clothes and left a patch of bright blue on his exposed skin, poison.

“Pu~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~”

Severely wounded, Miao Xianren spat out a mouthful of blood. The force of the strike had sent him a great distance away before he could stop. However, the Gold Jiangs.h.i.+ suddenly reappeared right in front of the black robed man to guard him.

As he flew backwards, Miao Xianren no longer had any desire to seize that heart. As of now, the most important thing was to get away from here as soon as possible to heal his wound and force out the poison.

Yet he heard a shrill cry for help.

“s.h.i.+xiong, help!”

He turned to discover that Zhong Shan was surrounded by all the Copper Jiangs.h.i.+ as if he was going to be killed at any moment

Miao Xianren was irritated. What an idiot, why was he running back so close to the Gold Jiangs.h.i.+?

Miao Xianren wanted to leave Zhong Shan behind. But, he was unwilling to give up the Hongluan Manual!

Miao Xianren noticed that the black robed man didn’t want to send the Gold Jiangs.h.i.+ out too far. Maybe he would lost control of it, if it was too far away? Miao Xianren figured it must be the case since the black robed man wasn’t even at his level. How could he control a Gold Jiangs.h.i.+? It must be that heart, that b.l.o.o.d.y heart.

When he figured all this out, Miao Xianren, as if he had made an important decision, widened his bloodshot eyes and sped up more than three times of his usual speed on the flying sword.

This time Miao Xianren went all out. Though heavily injured and poisoned, he still used a secret method to momentarily empower himself.

In the blink of an eye, Miao Xianren returned to the valley. Many energy swords came from the the long sword and with a twist of his body, he appeared inside the circle of Copper Jiangs.h.i.+.

The black robed man close by stared with cold eyes and the Gold Jiangs.h.i.+ next to him suddenly disappeared again.

“Hu,” Miao Xianren used his left hand to tightly grab onto Zhong Shan’s collar and turned around to run.

“Hong~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~”

A palm appeared out of nowhere and struck at Miao Xianren’s right arm, sending him flying away again.

Miao Xianren believed that with his secret method, the Silver Jiangs.h.i.+ couldn’t possibly catch up with his speed. The only one that could hit him was the Gold Jiangs.h.i.+.

The palm strike from the Gold Jiangs.h.i.+ sent him flying into a nearby mountain.

“Pong~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~” The collision created a small crater, flinging broken rock everywhere.

“Pu~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~”

Miao Xianren spat out another mouthful of blood. But he was quite happy with where he had landed because the Gold Jiangs.h.i.+ didn’t give chase. He a.s.sumed that the Gold Jiangs.h.i.+ had to stay close to the black robed man. He was saved, saved. In the meantime, he spat out a few more mouthfuls of blood.

It was all Zhong Shan’s fault that he was wounded so severely. After he got back and forced Zhong Shan to tell him about the complete Hongluan Manual, he planned to cut Zhong Shan into pieces.

The Gold Jiangs.h.i.+ didn’t come after him, but the Silver Jiangs.h.i.+ did. They sped towards his location.

Miao Xianren gave a fearful glance at the Gold Jiangs.h.i.+ and decided against continuing the fight.  For he feared that the black robed man would fly over and the Gold Jiangs.h.i.+ with him.

Miao Xianren’s right arm hung listlessly at his side. With only one good arm left, he didn’t want to fight the Silver Jiangs.h.i.+ in this state. He turned his flying sword around and picked up Zhong Shan to fly to the opposite direction.

“Ci~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~”

A sword appeared out of nowhere, swiftly cut off Miao Xianren’s left arm before he could react.

A fountain of blood flowed out. It was unimaginable for Miao Xianren. Zhong Shan planned to kill me? Miao Xianren quickly went through all the things Zhong Shan had done and said before in his head. So, was it all a trap from the beginning?

Zhong Shan had waited for this opportunity. He was going to stab Miao Xianren’s chest or back, but Miao Xianren kept his guard up and had a s.h.i.+eld covering his body all the time. The left arm was open because he was holding Zhong Shan.

That was the opportunity that Zhong Shan couldn’t afford to miss. Zhong Shan, without a second thought, took out his sword, Eternal, to sever Miao Xianren’s left arm with all his might.
