Chapter V Mysterious oriental beastman

As far as food is concerned, every beastman will have their own preferences, which has nothing to do with their faith – Beamon proverb.

After seeing the black seahorse disappearing in the darkness of night, Hailun could no longer bear anymore and gently fell into Liu Zhenhan’s arms.

“What’s wrong?” Liu Zhenhan asked in a concerned tone.

“I hope you realize that we have come out alive of a fairly dangerous situation?” Hailun replied in a weak tone while slightly narrowing her eyes, which complimented her beauty, even in this morbid state.

“Danger? Oh, come on.” Liu Zhenhan proudly showed his st.u.r.dy arm and said, “My girl, have you forgotten that I am a cursed sacrifice? I possess the great strength of a Yalong beast, how can there be any danger when I am there to protect you?”

Liu Zhenhan said these words without a hint of humility. During reconnaissance training, he always focused on techniques to either capture his enemies and render them immobile by breaking their limbs, or kill them instantly without making any noise. The reason why he was not sent much on such missions because his instructor disliked his inclination towards killing over capturing. Yes, Liu Zhenhan took pleasure in killing the enemy and was well-versed in pinpoint a.s.sa.s.sination skills.

Perhaps accidentally or thanks to lucky circ.u.mstances, he now possessed the formidable power of dragons that had literally turned him into a standard killing machine. But Liu Zhenhan couldn’t tell these things to Hailun and thus chose to keep his dark and cruel nature a secret from her. He buried this secret in the depths of his heart because explaining something so twisted to her would be quite troublesome. She was too young to know a lot of stuff and was better off not knowing some things, especially when they were related to him.

Although Liu Zhenhan portrayed himself as a stupid goofball all the time, in reality, he was a cold-hearted beast deep down in his heart.

The very contrast between what he really was on the inside and how he appeared to Hailun could blow her mind away, though it was quite amusing to Liu Zhenhan himself.

“Li Cha ~~!” Hailun clearly looked displeased.

“What is a sacrifice?” Hailun said: “A sacred sacrifice is the messenger of the temple, like a strong beam of light that guides the people of Beamon Kingdom toward a peaceful and prosperous future. If Beamon soldiers are flame then we are like hot oil that helps them burn more vigorously. Not even ten sacrifices together can rival the combined strength of a trained Beamon soldier; if a sacrifice goes to partic.i.p.ate in a war against human race, they are supposed to focus on singing battle songs while relying on their magic pet and Beamon soldiers to fight for them, understood?”

“But there were no soldiers on my side when I fought that sharky. Are you implying I should have let Fruit fight on my behalf?” Liu Zhenhan shrugged and said while gently caressing Fruit’s head.

“When we return to the Beamon Kingdom, as soon as your ident.i.ty gets confirmed and you obtain the t.i.tle of ‘inborn soul singer’, countless soldiers will compete to become your followers. When the time comes, even the temple will grant you special status and will send formidable templars as your bodyguards.” Hailun gave him a supercilious look while setting her fiery-red tail upright. She even scratched under his arm with her fingers.

“It is not my fault.” Liu Zhenhan grabbed her tail and started rubbing it: “You see, it’s that shark knight’s fault. He was a water magician and how can we ignore his size? He was heavier than all of us put together.”

“Do not grab my tail!” Hailun suddenly screamed and pulled her tail out of his grip as if he had accidentally touched the ‘G-spot’ of her tail while rubbing it. She was fuming with anger, her entire body heated up as she coquettishly looked at him while breathing heavily: “For now on, you are not allowed to foolishly get involved in face-to-face fights with powerful warriors! We also have to hide the matter about your curse; we absolutely cannot allow others to find out about it. Remember, it is simply blasphemous to your ident.i.ty as an inborn soul singer.”

“I understand.” Liu Zhenhan was thick skinned but was deeply moved when he saw her genuinely concerned about him, “You don’t have to state the obvious. I know what to do and what not to do more than anyone else.”

“You really are not like those pigmen who are famous for their stupidity throughout the Qin Mainland, like my fox clan is famous for being smartest among beastman.” Hailun said and smiled at him.

“Is that so? In that case, I can consider marrying into your clan.” Liu Zhenhan became even more shameless, “When the man himself is incompetent, he can adopt the surname of his wife’s influential clan! I can, then, become a part of your fox clan, right?”

Hailun’s eyes turned dim all of a sudden, a faint color of sadness enveloped her face.

“What’s wrong?” Liu Zhenhan felt that something was not right.

“Nothing, I am fine.” Hailun gently buried herself in his bosom, caressed his manly face and said emotionally: “Li Cha, no matter what happens in the future, regardless of how difficult our lives become, promise me that you won’t abandon me.”

“That goes without saying.” Liu Zhenhan’s smiling face dazzled under the illumination of legendary luminous pearl.

Hailun burst into tears and hugged him tightly.

Liu Zhenhan felt somewhat restless in his heart. He could tell that she was hiding something from him.

This matter continued to revolve in his heart for a long time, not allowing him to fall asleep. What was the reason behind Hailun’s strange behavior? Was she worried about the status difference? Because pig clan was a va.s.sal clan of fox clan, was this the reason behind her worries?”

In any case, he must win the status of a sacred sacrifice in order to become a n.o.ble! While he was thinking about all this stuff, he was also excited because there was a possibility that the mermaid princess might come back for revenge. He continued to swing between the reality and his dreams, before finally falling asleep.

He did know for how long he slept before finally being awakened by a jerk from violently swaying raft. Fortunately, they were inside a solid turtle sh.e.l.l that rebalanced itself.

Liu Zhenhan rubbed his eyes and found out that the weather was quite lovely today. He crawled out of the wolf skin and looked around to see what was going on.

Liu Zhenhan’s eyes widened in disbelief as he again rubbed his eyes.

However, he again saw the hull of a giant s.h.i.+p, almost the size of a two-storied building. He noticed that the raft had collided with the anchor line and was stuck.

Hailun also got up and appeared quite tempting. It is hard to tell when Liu Zhenhan had unb.u.t.toned the b.u.t.tons on her clothes.

“A s.h.i.+p?” Hailun’s complexion suddenly turned pale.

On Qin Mainland, only a few particularly powerful human countries had signed trade contracts with the sea race and these counties were insanely influential, to the extent of having legendary Dragon Knights in their army. They had obtained special recognition from the sea race and were allowed to follow specific trade routes.

And these human countries were all infamous for being overly invested in slave trade. According to Hailun’s knowledge, besides a few s.h.i.+ps that imported silk, tea and porcelain, the rest were all slave s.h.i.+ps.

It was not difficult to tell that this s.h.i.+p had the backing of a power human country!

If humans saw a fox beauty, they would be in big trouble.

Hailun did not even dare to think what might happen to her if she got caught. At this moment, she resented herself for not being able to become a war sacrifice sooner, otherwise, she could use ‘Nebula chain lightning’ right now.

“Li Cha!” Hailun grabbed Liu Zhenhan’s arm and spoke incoherently: “Let’s go! Hurry up!”

At this time, they saw the upper half of a sailor’s body leaning from the rails of the s.h.i.+p while his cold eyes were staring at the two of them.

Liu Zhenhan and Hailun were surprised when they saw that sailor.

The sailor was clad in open chest cotton garment, exposing his hairy chest. His arms were resting against the rails, revealing his thick biceps and stout characteristics.

However, what actually surprised Hailun was his face. He had an authentic ‘Beamon’ face with beastly features.
