Hua Xu Yin Chapter 6.2

The song went on without pausing, but Mu Yan got a migraine and said,”ah?”

I said, “Are you willing to marry someone who is dead?”

He stopped playing and with the moonlight reflecting off his face, the light made him look attractive and speechless.

I plucked up the courage and he gestures: “The girl looks are not bad, her personality is tolerable, all the elders like her, marrying into your home is absolutely no problem, she knows some poetry and a bit of painting. In front of people, you won’t lose face, although  she can’t make food well, she can make some food if it’s already dead&h.e.l.lip;”

I think he will praise himself something big shamelessly and boast, but he didn’t. He listens patiently then looks dumbfounded: “Did you say a ghost marriage?”

I do not know if he was married and if he counted a ghost marriage a marriage, so I could only nod my head.

He patiently looks at me for a moment, raising his hand to continue the tune, shakes his head and says: “I really do not know what you are thinking, I really do not want to be match made with a dead person.”

I eyed him and said, “ah.”

The silk strings uttered a trill, he smiled and said: ” It is really like you to do things out of the ordinary, but we cannot be without the Mu family, but thank you for your good intentions.”

I lie back again against the three-legged table, eyes closed. The night’s air is obviously gentle and warm, but I feel like I have a cold. While recognizing the the special way of life and death, I want to to  give it a try, maybe there will be a different outcome, but I will probably be disappointed.

How I want to tell him that in front of him is the little girl he found years ago. She has now grown and has been trying to find him&h.e.l.lip;
