120 – A Very Voluptuous Specter
The keel was located in the center of the base of a s.h.i.+p. From the bow to the stern, it was the main load-bearing component.
After discovering that there was an issue with the severed keel, it was easy to find what made the keel so unusual. Marcus discovered that the keel was not a complete piece, but had marks of being joined together.
After disa.s.sembling the keel along the joint marks, it was divided into halves.
The two halves looked like a mold, with a bone being the cast. The bone was about one meter long. One end of the bone was broken, while the other end was a joint. Densely packed magic runes were carved on the surface of the bone.
“What bone is this?”
“There are magic runes, it is the work of wizards!”
“This is a magic equipment.”
“The bone is rather big. Is it a magic best's bone? Do mid-ranked magic beasts have such big bones? Is it perhaps a high-ranked magic beast's bone?”
Looking at the bones, Gort and the others rushed to chime in.
Liszt's pupils were as deep as whirlpools. Via Magic Eyes, he could see the dense flow of magic power inside the bone.
The magic power seemed to want to be released outwards, yet it was firmly locked by the magic runes on the bone's surface, unable to pour out. Only a little bit o magic power flowed out from a few places with slightly dim magic runes.
At this moment, Marcus reached out with his hand, wanting to pull the bone out of the keel. However, just as his hand just touched the bone, the magic runes suddenly lit up one by one. Then with a crash, the lit up magic runes quickly went out and a gloomy light gushed out of the bone and headed straight for Marcus.
Marcus' reaction could not be said to be slow. He threw the keel in his hand away and then rolled on the ground. It might not have looked too elegant, but the action was swift. In a practiced manner, he drew his sword by the time he finished rolling, poured his qi into it, and struck back at the gloomy light.
Boom!
The gloomy light was successfully blocked.
The light suddenly dispersed and a humanoid figure exuding a faint radiance was formed midair. It only had an upper body, with the lower body looking like a rotten cloth waving in the wind. Although its facial features couldn't be seen clearly, but from its figure, from its voluptuous chest, it could be seen that it was a woman.
It had a pair of arms hanging from its shoulders. Its palms were slender, and it even had nails formed from dim light. The nails were at least ten centimeters long.
“Protect Sir!” Bellowed Marcus.
As it was the first time the retainer knights came across such a weird scene, they were a bit panicked. However, they quickly formed a circle around Liszt and drew their pikes, nervously looking at the humanoid thing floating in the air.
Gort retreated by two steps, swallowed, and said with a shaky voice: “What… is that?”
“A Specter!” Liszt had been looking forward to the Specter, and now that he saw one in the ‘flesh', he was not nervous and was even a bit excited.
He found this world more and more interesting. Not only was there magic and qi, not only were there dragons and sprites, but there were still all kinds of mystical beings. Now that he saw for himself that Specters were real, did it mean that Vampires, Werewolves, Unicorns, Sirens, and other life forms described in knight novels were also real?
Giants and Gnomes were also depicted in knight novels, were they real? Even humanoid sprites, which were also called sprites yet were of a higher intellect, were they also real?
“A Specter?” Gort screamed, “Is it really a Specter?! Specters are actually real, incredible! Marcus, you can kill the Specter, right?!”
Marcus felt also nervous as he confronted the Specter. In fact, it wasn't a confrontation, because ever since its unsuccessful attempt at attacking Marcus, the Specter just floated midair, not moving. If it wasn't for the slight undulation and the dim radiance, it would look just like a projection.
“I can't guaranty that I can kill it. I have never met a Specter before. It has no physical form, it is just made of light.” Marcus had a cautious look on his face as he gripped his sword with both hands.
While under the protection of the crowd, Liszt kept Magic Eyes released. He discovered that the magic power inside the bone was seemingly unrelated to the Specter. The Specter didn't seem to have much magic power. No matter whether Magic Eyes or the naked eye were used to look at the Specter, it was still a humanoid upper body formed from dim light.
He quickly recalled all the things he knew about Specters. Specters didn't seem to be ferocious bogies. In knight novels, the fighting scenes were limited to Specters being defeated by a single strike from the MC's blade alike small fries. Even in bedtime stories, Specters were depicted as mere rare mascots instead of existences that harmed people.
Just as Marcus started to become restless, ready to attack the Specter.
Liszt suddenly had a flash of insight. The Specter, which stayed in the keel, resembled the magic lamp's genie in [Aladdin]. Thus, he gently stroked his chest under the cloak, took out the message in a bottle forged from an unknown metal from the s.p.a.ce ring, and threw it to Marcus.
“Teacher Marcus, try to put the Specter inside this.” He did this just on a whim. However, to his surprise, when the bottle landed in Marcus' hand, the Specter suddenly rushed towards Marcus. Just as Marcus was was going to use his sword to intercept the other party, the Specter had speedily entered the metal bottle.
“Uh…” Liszt looked distracted. Never had he imagined that he would manage to restrain the Specter. It was simply incredible. However, when Marcus walked over while carefully holding the bottle, he quickly restrained his amazement. With an unperturbed expression, he handed Marcus the bottle cap.
Marcus quickly closed the bottle. Several threads of magic power flashed, and the metal bottle and the cap joined into one, leaving no visible gaps.
“Sir, here is your magic bottle.” Marcus respectfully handed Liszt the bottle. This lord, of whom he was a follower, was becoming more and more inscrutable, as if everything was under the control of the other party.
The s.h.i.+pwreck's Specter had been taken care of just like that.
Liszt received the bottle back, placed it under the cloak, and, while avoiding the gazes of others, sent it into the gem's s.p.a.ce. He was unwilling to be in close contact with the Specter. Therefore, he sent it into the gem's s.p.a.ce, where everything was static. It would not be too late to study the Specter after he ascertained the information regarding Specters.
“However, this Specter was at least a 36D.”
……
The blood from the Sunprogeny lineage was required to open the metal bottle.
At present, the sole source of blood was the leathersmith shop's old leathersmith. Although the Old Leathersmith Phil and the servingman Jesse had yet to forge a father and son agreement, but the both of them were very close, no less than a genuine pair of father and son.
The old leathersmith, after all, was getting old. Therefore, Liszt only drew a small amount of his blood and sealed it in a jade bottle. He didn't need any more blood for now. At the same time, the old leathersmith received a lot of food as compensation.
“Jesse, take good care of the Old Leathersmith. The bit of blood I draw from him is because I want to study it, and not because I want to hurt him. Regarding your work load in the castle, the other servingmen can take some of it over; I'll let Mr. Carter do the arrangements. The most important thing for you now is to take good care of the Old Leathersmith.”
“Yes, Master.” Nodded Jesse.
The old leathersmith said: “It is my honor to be of use to Sir Lord.”
Liszt smiled lightly: “I'm glad to hear that.”
He would regularly draw the other party's blood until there was enough to open the metal bottle an unlimited number of times.
