Well, it wasn’t too late to start being friends now.
Qi Feng continued to rattle on about random subjects It was as though he had endless things to talk about with Ling Ke.
Ling Ke did not find this annoying or irksome. Instead, he actually welcomed such enthusiasm.
Because of Ling Ke’s personality, he had never really spoken much with others. Most people, after getting a taste of Ling Ke’s indifference, would choose to back off before they even manage to get him to open up to them.
It was rare for someone to be so persistent; so unafraid of being met with rejection. Despite not getting much replies from Ling Ke, Qi Feng was able to amiably and enthusiastically continue a largely one-sided conversation.
Qi Feng spoke in a speed that was neither too fast nor too slow. It was like a bow that was stringing melodious chords capable of enchanting oneself; it was like the honeyed words of a sweet lover conveyed in a husky voice imbued with both charm and allure.
Ling Ke could not help recalling his encounter with Jiang Ying in the broadcasting studio five years ago. He was sure that Qi Feng’s charming voice had been inherited from his mother.
After their meal, the two slowly made their way back to the hostel.
On their way back, they pa.s.sed by a convenience stall where Qi Feng dropped in to purchase a few bottles of mineral water and drinks.
Qi Feng had told him that he is used to drinking lots of water. If he did not drink at least two gallons of water a day, he will feel rather unpleasant, especially in such sweltering weather. Coupled with the fact that they had both just eaten mala hotpot. Qi Feng declared that if he did not drink any water now, he would shrivel up and die!
Amused by Qi Feng’s exaggerated expression, Ling Ke involuntarily let out a soft chuckle. He followed Qi Feng into the convenience stall and upon seeing the packets of tissue paper stacked on the counter, decided to buy two of them.
When they returned back to their room, they realized that their last roommate had yet to arrive. As Xie Qi Bao was staying with his family in a hotel, he also probably wouldn’t be returning to the room.
It suddenly dawned upon Ling Ke that there would only be the two of them in the room tonight.
Staying in the same room as the guy you have been crus.h.i.+ng on for five years and on the very same day you met him…
This almost seems like they were going to…
Compared to the inner turmoil Ling Ke was feeling, Qi Feng seemed to be very calm.
Of course, in a normal person’s eyes, what’s wrong with two straight guys sleeping in the same room? There were definitely many rooms in this hostel that were currently facing the same situation.
Ling Ke took a deep breath and forced himself to stay calm.
QI Feng switched on the air conditioner and dumped everything out from his luggage as he prepared to arrange his belongings. Ling Ke grabbed the opportunity to shower first.
As he was showering, Ling Ke could not help thinking how he and Qi Feng were only separated by a door. He felt his desire burning with an unspeakable pa.s.sion…
As he released the pent-up stress that had acc.u.mulated in his lower half, Ling Ke could not help feeling a sense of guilt and hopelessness.
After was.h.i.+ng himself with cold water for another ten minutes and double-confirming that there was no suspicious smell in the shower room, Ling Ke wore his clothes and stepped out.
The two luggage which Qi Feng had brought laid wide open on the floor; its contents sprawled messily around the luggage and on the table. Just beside the luggage was the residue of a newly finished bottle of drink.
To have the originally neat and tidy room transformed into such a huge mess! The room now looked as though a burglar had entered and ransacked the place.
Ling Ke wiped his hair with the cloth as he asked, “What are you doing? How did you make such a big mess?”
Qi Feng stared listlessly at the things that he had brought. He lamented, “I didn’t know that each person only have such a small s.p.a.ce allocated to them. I think I brought too many things and there’s not enough room for everything.”
Ling Ke carefully scanned the items that Qi Feng had brought and immediately noticed that much of them were simply clothes and shoes. There were no big or bulky items.
He hanged the towel around his neck and walked towards Qi Feng. “Why don’t you hang a few of your clean clothes in this wardrobe first?”
Qi Feng replied with an obedient “okay”, before proceeding to follow Ling Ke’s instructions.
Seeing Qi Feng rummaged through his own boxers, Ling Ke’s could feel his face burning.
Turning away, Ling Ke continued, “Choose two pairs of shoes that you will wear for these few days and put them under your desk. Pack the rest of them into boxes and place them at the bottom of your wardrobe…yup, you can fold the rest of your clothes and put them back in the boxes too. After you have gotten tired of the few pieces of clothing hanging in the wardrobe, you can go get some new ones from the box…”
With Ling Ke’s help, the messy room slowly restored its original cleanliness.
Qi Feng heaved a sigh of relief. “You are awesome.”
Ling Ke was speechless. What was so awesome about that?
However, Ling Ke had never imagined that someone as charismatic and charming as Qi Feng would behave like such a child in private; a child who is unable to even pack his own stuff.
Ling Ke felt like he was missing something —- “Whats with all these shoes?” Ling Ke frowned.
Qi Feng had brought with him a wide variety of shoes, including sports shoes, sneakers, leather shoes, slippers, etc. . The wonder he had brought two large luggage!
Ling Ke only had two pair of shoes – a pair of sport shoes for running and sneakers for leisure purposes. He had never worn other types of shoes before and certainly did not plan to. As he was not good at coordinating his outfit, wearing sneakers were much more convenient because they easily go well with any types of clothing.
“Of course, they are for me to wear.”
Ling Ke lips twitched. A gay like him would never be able to understand a straight guy.
After he had finished packing his stuff, Qi Feng gulped down another bottle of water before grabbing his clothes and saying to Ling Ke, “I am going to bath.”
Ling Ke’s heart beat faster. A mixture of antic.i.p.ation and shame welled up in his heart as he attempted to calm his nerves by drinking a bottle of ice cold water.
It had not even been two seconds when Qi Feng’s voice drifted out from the bathroom. “Ling Ke, which towel is mine?”
Ling Ke went into the bathroom and pointed it out for him, together with the cup and toothbrush he will be using.
Qi Feng looked at the four identical white towels and the two identical toothbrushes and cups and grimaced…Which one?
“Just remember that yours is always the one on the right.”
Guys left; girls right. Why was he a.s.signed right?
Qi Feng raised his eyebrow. “The color is exactly the same. What if I mix them up?”
Ling Ke felt embarra.s.sed. Somehow, it did not occur to him to buy the items in two different colors.
There were four towels. Two of them were face towels and were slightly smaller in size; the other two were larger in size because they were meant to be used to wipe dry one’s body after bathing.
Qi Feng suddenly had an inspiration. He grabbed the bigger towels and said, “Never mind, let’s do it this way. You use the smaller towels while I use the bigger ones.”
He felt that this was a reasonable proposition, considering the fact that he was slightly taller than Ling Ke.
Ling Ke stiffened. “I…That cloth, I had already used it just now.”
Qi Feng waved his hands. “It’s fine. I will use soap to wash the towel later.”
Ling Ke: “….”
Maybe straight guys don’t really care about such trivial matters? Ling Ke decided not to argue.
However, he almost had to lean against the wall as he walked away from the toilet.
That towel…he had even used it to wipe his…that part just now.
…Even though the cloth is washed, Ling Ke could not help feeling ashamed when he thought of how Qi Feng might be using that cloth to wipe dry his face.
Actually, that wasn’t the problem. Rather, it was the uncontrollable rein of dirty thoughts that were floating into his mind that was more of a problem. Even though he knew that he shouldn’t be having these thoughts, he could not help himself. Such involuntary yet vivid imagination has caused Ling Ke to have a reaction in his lower half.
Qi Feng showered much faster than Ling Ke. In less than ten minutes, he was done.
At that moment, Ling Ke was trying to get onto the bed. One of his legs was on the ladder while the other dangling in mid-air. He turned around to see that Qi Feng was only wearing a loose beach pants. He had not bothered to wear a s.h.i.+rt and had came out of the bathroom half-naked. His sinewy muscles flickered with droplets of water that had not been wiped away.
Oh.my.G.o.d!
Ling Ke almost fell off the ladder.
“Are you going to sleep already?” Qi Feng asked. “It’s only nine.”
“…Yes.” Ling Ke gracefully climbed up the ladder and laid down on the bed. His back was facing Qi Feng.
Ling Ke could not see what Qi Feng was doing below his bed. Probably doing the final round of unpacking. In that interval, he saw Qi Feng went to the toilet twice.
After a while, Qi Feng also climbed up onto the bed.
Even thought he bunk bed was connected to the desk, the bed itself was not fixed to the wall. Therefore, when someone climbed onto the bed, there will inevitably be some squeaking noise. Somehow, this sound only served to heighten Ling Ke nervousness. It almost felt as though Qi Feng would climb up onto the bed and sleep beside him.
Noticing that Ling Ke’s head was facing the opposite direction, Qi Feng naturally also chose to lay his head in the other direction such that both their feet were facing each other.
There was a fencing surrounding the side and end of the bed to prevent people from falling off and the other party from reaching his leg into another person’s bed.
Qi Feng was 1.87 metres. Lying on the bed was almost like lying in a metal cage.
For someone who is used to sleeping on a big bed, Qi Feng felt uncomfortable in the bed in the hostel which was less than one metre in width.
Frustrated, he stretched out his legs as he attempted to find out if his legs would reach the end of the bed.
Unfortunately, his legs went through the poles at the end of the bed and he felt something warm against his feet
And that thing immediately moved away upon being touched.
Qi Feng was momentarily shocked but he quickly recovered his composure. He had accidentally touched Ling Ke’s feet.
“Did I touch you just now?…I am so sorry, the bed is really small.”
After a few seconds, there was a m.u.f.fled reply of “It’s fine.”
Actually, Ling Ke had almost vomited blood and died.
He did not dare to stretch his legs now. He curled up in his blankets as he opened his handphone, hoping to read some news to calm himself down.
After a while, Ling Ke could not help clicking his WeChat app and finding Qi Feng’s page.
Inside his chatbox with Qi Feng, there was only one message from him.
Qi Feng: “I have accepted your friend request. Now, we can start a conversation.” (T/N: system generated message)
That was three years ago.
At that time, Ling Ke had not thought that three years later he would be in the same university as Qi Feng, sleeping in the very same room as him.
It was as though there was a flow of electricity transmitted from Qi Feng’s feet to his body. He could feel a burning sensation from the place he had touched. It was intense enough to ignite his soul and set his heart on fire.
The first night and he was already feeling various sensations just because of Qi Feng’s presence. He did not know how he would cope with the rest of his university life.
Sighing softly, Ling Ke clicked on Ling Ke’s social circle out of habit.
He was astonished to find that Qi Feng had sent a message out just one minute ago.
“I am doomed.”
There was no picture attachment; no emoji; just three simple words.
Ling Ke was bewildered.
What did he mean by being doomed?
If he had not gotten to know Qi Feng today, he probably couldn’t care less whether he understood the message or not. However, now that he and Qi Feng could be considered friends and more importantly, because he had just spent the whole evening with Qi Feng and now he was sleeping just opposite of him, Ling Ke could not help feeling curious about what had happened to make him feel ‘doomed’.
Was it…the bed was too uncomfortable?
Ling Ke thought that was probably it. While he felt sympathy for Qi Feng’s plight, he also found the situation humorous.
He gently stroked Qi Feng’s avatar as he whispered a goodnight in his heart.
Despite feeling exceptionally excited, Ling Ke’s body clock was still rather disciplined and his brain which was attuned to a regular sleep pattern eventually won out the excitement in his body and he fell asleep before the clock hit twelve.
Having a good night rest, Ling Ke almost forgot where he was when he opened his eyes. It was only after he had realized his current situation that he immediately sat up.
–Qi Feng was still sleeping.
He saw that Qi Feng had pulled his blanket such that it was rolled up around his body.
As the air-conditioner was switched on, the room was slightly cold. Qi Feng was clinging tightly to one end of the blanket, his hand hugging the other end. He was obviously feeling very cold, yet unable to find a blanket to cover his body. This made him look quite pitiful.
Ling Ke tried to calm the pounding in his heart as he climbed down the bed to switch off the air-conditioner.
He quietly went to the toilet and prepared to brush his teeth. He looked down and realized that there was a label on each toothbrush and cup.
The one on the left had a ‘Feng’ label while the one on the right had a ‘Ke’ label.
There was also a doodle of a cat face beside both labels.
Extra:
Ling Ke: He touched my feet.
Qi Feng: I am doomed.
After Ling Ke had entered the washroom, Qi Feng was busy gulping down ice water. It was only through this, he was finally able to rid his mind of the thought that “Ling Ke is bathing!”. In the process, he had unknowingly made a mess of the room as he was packing —“Ahhhh, so frustrated! I can’t pack properly! Ling Ke is bathing!”
Ling Ke: “What’s your problem with me bathing?”
Qi Feng *indignant face”: “Only you know what you had done.”
Ling Ke: “…”
T/N: Anyone originally thought that Qi Feng went to the toilet to jerk off HAHAHHA oops
T/N: Random but anyone watching Idol Producer? :DDDDD
