Chapter 7 Unrestrainted (III)

Meanwhile, Yang Jiu was at the foot of some mountain inside Luosheng Kingdom. He had no idea the killing of the supply officer had made him into the Most Wanted, nor did he know that Lanxin had such a high opinion of him, in spite of only a few meetings.

Even if he knew, he would never be interested in working for the Lin Lan family and becoming some kind of sponsored, trashy mystic for them.

Yes, trashy! Those mystics who didn't ascend into the heavenly realm, they were garbage to him. He didn't mind calling those mystics, who cultivated killing power only to kill regular warriors, trashy.

To him, the last killer in the world, he did not care for battle-style mystics, who liked to bully warriors, nor did he care for those traditional mystics, who pursued ascension into the heavenly realm.

As a killing warrior who cultivated Qisha, he didn't need a rite of any kind; he just needed to complete the ninth cycle of the manual and he would be in the heavenly realm.

By the time there were nine black pentagrams on his chest, it'd be time for his transformation. But he was a long way off from that point.

He stretched, tossing the crystal sword with the Pingyuan Army logo aside, taking no notice to the weapon breaking off a whole side of the mountain.

He still had a smile—the same one he had before leaving the army.

By killing the supply officer half an hour ago, Jiu had finally broke through the third cycle in Qisha; he was now in the fourth cycle and able to compete with an eight-leaf warrior.

The killing energy in his body had also turned into a liquid source of power, flowing freely in his veins.

When the fourth black pentagram on his chest went from light to dark, Jiu's seemingly innate killing Qi had also been thoroughly absorbed by his body.

"The fourth cycle . . . finally, the fourth cycle . . ." He couldn't but help touch his mouth, feeling his smile. It felt like it'd been forever since he'd last worn this expression.

Only people who had cultivated Qisha would understand how challenging it was to live as a killing warrior, or rather, how awkward.

How could someone who wanted to kill all the time, who could start a ma.s.sacre at any time, be able to live normally in a city filled with people?

His eyes crinkled, and Jiu sighed. "Finally, I don't have to keep a stony face; I don't have to avoid cities. Now I could live like a normal person."

Before, he could hide the Qisha qi in his body, but the killing qi outside his body made people think he was at least a two-leaf warrior. Now, however, he just looked like a strong person, at most a warrior.

The only issue: The killing qi he had during the third cycle was a simple killing qi, which even top mystics couldn't detect, but once the killing qi turned to liquid, any warrior above an eight-leaf level could feel his internal power.

This change filled Jiu with an indescribable emotion, and he was also mourning the loss of the opportunity to kill legally. But Qisha warriors shouldn't insist on killing a lot of people; whatever happened naturally was best.

He had to admit, though, his time in the Pingyuan army was his happiest in recent years. What was next?

As he walked out of the shadows at the foot of the mountain, he touched his nose. "Where to now?"

Looking out at the endless mountains and fields, he was embarra.s.sed to realize that not only did he not know the roads of Luosheng, he didn't have any tools for navigation.

As he hesitated, there came sounds of running. The steps were far off, but from how quickly they became louder, their speed was shocking.

The fast steps and occasional grunts dissipated the smile on Jiu's face, replaced by a killing vibe.

Are they hunting me from Pingyuan? Well, they could be the first ghosts under my fourth-cycle Qisha sword!
