Chapter 164: Demon Emperor’s Little Phoenix 16 (part 1 of 2)

That pair of deep golden eyes displaying the brilliance of the sun, still enthralls and enamors An Ying just like before, and were so beautiful that it gives an illusion of great happiness upon the person being looked upon by this pair of eyes. But in the next second, the Little Phoenix’s gaze s.h.i.+fted away from An Ying without nostalgia, just as when he told him that they would never see each other again in that war-torn sky a thousand years ago.

Half of the Chang Liu Palace, which had been reduced to rubble by the Soaring Serpent’s thick snake tail, was like a post-disaster ruin. A gust of wind swept through the ruins. The Little Phoenix’s manner of turning his back was even stained with a chill of indifference.

An Ying’s heart instantly sank, ignoring the injuries in his body and the Netherworld’s coercive pressure, he hurriedly rushed over to the Little Phoenix, and almost stumbled to the floor. Fortunately, he finally managed to grab a hold of the Little Phoenix’s wrist at the last moment. Blue veins appeared on the tightly knotted hand because of tension and force, as he hoa.r.s.ely whispered: “Tong Tong, don’t leave……”

The plea in the tone was very clear. Moreover, in An Ying’s entire life, he had never pleaded like this to anyone, neither it be from before or the present.

His self-esteem didn’t allow this, nor does his status require it. It was even more unacceptable with his nature. The only person, who can let him lower himself in spite of everything, is only his Little Phoenix.

It’s a pity that, the Little Phoenix didn’t turn his head to look back. He only expressionlessly raised his hand and pulled his wrist out from An Ying’s grasp, and was even unwilling to grace the other a single word. An Ying felt as if there were countless sharp needles p.r.i.c.kling his empty palm. The Little Phoenix’s departing crimson figure flickered and dimmed at the junction of light, taking away all his warmth.

He seemed to have always been living in the darkness until his meeting with the Little Phoenix, and the Little Phoenix was like a precious warm light accidentally s.h.i.+ning down in his life. He brought him light, his life became filled with colors because of him, his emotions also completely fluctuated along with him. The bright s.h.i.+ning warm sun, makes him happy and nostalgic, while the cloudy gloom makes him ill at ease, and can easily make him fall into the abyss once it disappears.

“Tong Tong!”

An Ying summoned his courage to grab onto the Little Phoenix’s hand again. He knew very well that his mistake was caused by his stupidity, but he never had the chance to properly explain this to the Little Phoenix. Whether to receive forgiveness is one thing, and whether to apologize is another, “Tong Tong, I know that all of it is my fault. But I had no idea of you saving me back then, or that you were injured, I only thought……”

But before he could finish his words, the Little Phoenix cut him off, “As far as I’m concerned, the things before Nirvana has already pa.s.sed.”

The Little Phoenix turned to look at An Ying. The Phoenix, Tong tilted his head. Rippling with clarity, both the fascinating indolence and the smile, that was also not a smile, at the corner of his mouth was still the same as before, “That’s another mistake I experienced, and has nothing to do with you now. You also don’t need to continue thinking about this anymore. Forget everything that should be forgotten, alright?”

This light and fluttering words were like a puff of smoke, but was just like a heavy blow of a stick on the head to An Ying, making his vision dark. An Ying numbly stood there, watching the Little Phoenix’s departing figure, once again experiencing the taste of being abandoned by the Little Phoenix just like that of a thousand years ago. The Little Phoenix was obviously right in front of him, but he felt as if they were separated by thousands of mountains and rivers, that he was unable to grab a hold of the other anymore.

A familiar pain also spread into his heart immediately afterwards, with a seemingly suffocating intensity, while both his hands and feet uncontrollably trembled in pain. He wanted to open his mouth and loudly shout, but was only able to make short and rough sounds of breath, which was only audible to himself.

During the complete return of the Little Phoenix’s memories and magic power, that auspicious light brought about by the billowing Phoenix soul was not only visible in the Netherworld, but could also be perceived in all the other Realms as well. Thus, the Heavenly Emperor, once again dispatched the true G.o.d Ling Guang and the deity Siming to take him back to the Heavenly Realm. The Little Phoenix immediately mounted Qing Luan, who had turned into his true form of a large bird, and flew away with a flutter of his sleeves. Fluttering in the distance, without sparing a glance back.

Only the true G.o.d Ling Guang turned his head to look back, and couldn’t help but look at this Demon Emperor, who had taken the Demon Realm into his command at a young age. An Ying’s face was hidden in the shadows, and although the true G.o.d Ling Guang couldn’t see his expression, but he could see that the tall and slender figure unexpectedly appeared as fragile as a lonesome sand sculpture standing against the wind at this moment, and will seemingly fall to pieces with just a single light touch.

The Heavenly Emperor and Empress were already waiting in the inner halls of the Temple of Heaven.

Upon seeing the Little Phoenix had come, the always dignified Heavenly Empress unexpectedly rushed over, and enveloped the Little Phoenix’s shoulder, then softly caressed the Little Phoenix’s forehead for a long time before speaking with a slightly trembling voice: “Tong Tong, my good child. Is it you? Is it my Tong Tong, who returned?”

“Yes, it’s me,” The Little Phoenix nodded. Even he, couldn’t help but be slightly choked with emotions: “Adoptive mother, I’ve returned.”
