Chapter 12  Mind Master

“Great! Aunt White didn’t die.”

“Don’t be positive too early. Though White Phoenix didn’t die, she was in the hands of the monster king, maybe with her spirit of cultivation being sealed by the monster king and imprisoned in the Chilling Region.”

“The blood contract had consumed most of her spiritual powers ten years ago. Without the protection of the spiritual power, she could die in that coldest place. I should go to save her.”

“Do you know where the monsters’ headquarter was? Even if you find the place, you are a human being; how could you break in? Let alone taking her out.”

“Sisi, you have any good idea?”

“Yep! But the method takes some time.” Siyu smiled and she took out a piece of parchment, on which some notifications were written in different languages.

“The Escape Compet.i.tion?” Bird took a glance and then shook his head. “My goal is to save Aunt White; I have no plan for any kind of compet.i.tions.” 

“Read the course carefully, especially the final rounds,” Siyu advised.

Bird took the parchment from her and started to read carefully. When he found the words "The Boundary of Sealing Spirits", he could not hide his excitement. “Isn’t that the boundary between us and the monsters? So this is the hope for me to find Aunt White?”

“Don’t you remember the compet.i.tion ten years ago in Taohua Village? That small compet.i.tion was a pickup game. All the people who survived got the chance to join in this one. I believed that you were still alive only because your name and your brothers’ names were on this parchment.”

“Last time when we fought with the monsters, I provoked my spiritual fire, but my breath stopped. How could the host determine that I was still alive?” Bird felt confused, and he found a strong interest in the organizer of the escape compet.i.tion. He even thought that the organizer could be useful in saving Aunt White, if they were so powerful.

“The inn hosted each compet.i.tion every year, but the organization behind Ca.s.s is a mystery.”

They both recalled the memory of the essential middle-aged man and chilled.

Siyu continued, “During the ten years of your missing, the compet.i.tion attendees reduced from more than ten million to hundreds. But . . . I am still in it. Let’s take a break and we can go to the capital city to meet our companions.”

“You have companions? Good!” Bird suddenly remembered that she was the lady of the Que Family; how could she be alone? “When I send you to your companions, I will leave.”

“Why don’t you join us?” Siyu did not understand. “Being alone is dangerous.”

“When I send you to your companions, I will leave,” Bird insisted. He turned his back to her to sleep. 

“You idiot, you have misused the spiritual fire and did not repair your body after that. How can I relax? Let me teach you the correct way.”

Siyu could not see any living thing, so she only found the monster on Bird’s back. The horrific face of the monster opened its mouth to show her his teeth, as if challenging her.

“Great! Then teach me.” Bird moved to her.

“Compared to the other organs of our body, the brain is the most complex one, and it is the core of the subconscious. If you know how to use it, you can be a spirit with power as great as the G.o.ds and monsters.”

“Okay.”

Bird followed her directions to sit on his knees and repeat the simple but long spells of her.

With this practice persisting every day, the monster on his back faded away, and the pressure disappeared.
