Chapter 25 Detail of the Murder Wu Jun thought he was meeting for a romantic tryst. Without hesitation, he came to The Other Sh.o.r.e restaurant when he got off work. They enjoyed dinner and chatted like old friends. After that, Ji Fengjun mentioned she felt relaxed and Wu Jun took this chance for them to go back to her apartment.   Everything went smoothly. After Ji Fengjun took Wu Jun to her apartment, she opened a bottle of red wine. They sat on the sofa, enjoying the alcohol, and kept on chatting. After finis.h.i.+ng a gla.s.s of wine, Ji Fengjun said she would go have a bath. Wu Jun waited excitedly for her.   But Wu Jun didn’t notice that the wine had some overpower drug in it and he fell asleep before Ji Fengjun came out. Then, he never woke up. “I cut his wrist with a knife when he was unconscious, letting him die with no pain. Then I used the tools to shave all his fine hair. I put him into a certain pose, and then dropped the wax. But this was the first time I had created such a work, so I failed.” Ji Fengjun’s mood was still peaceful, as if she was merely killing a chicken.   “And then?” Chu Haoran asked, gesturing for her to continue. Ji Fengjun gave him a cold smile. “Then? Similar process. Zhao Yu met me once in the beauty center, but he asked for my contact information when I was leaving, and said he would give me a discount. As for Zhou Liang, I met him at the restaurant gate. He was rus.h.i.+ng and knocked into me. He felt sorry and paid for my dinner.” “Did you give them your contact information when they asked?” Chu Haoran asked with certain interest. “No. But I asked them to give me a name card. When I went back to call them, I used newly purchased IP cards. So, you didn’t find the calling numbers or any useful information?” When she said this, she was obviously satisfied and even a little prideful at her actions.   “Who told you about this method?” Chu Haoran didn’t think she could figure out such a method. As he suspected, Ji Fengjun told him n.o.body taught her, but she had found this on the Dark Angel Night Forum. There were many anti-detective methods.   Again, the Dark Angel Night Forum! I thought to myself. I had a strong interest in this forum now. On instinct, I thought there was some scheme hiding behind it. Still, we didn’t know what it was.   Ji Fengjun was straightforward. She told every detail about the murders. The three were drugged and then had their wrists cut, including Zhao Yu, who was found in the wax work museum. He was the second piece of work of her. She enjoyed the completed work and felt it a pity to appreciate it alone, so she moved it to the museum. As a model, she got to know Xiao Hui on occasion. At first, she also asked for his contact information, but she found out about his background later and became hesitant to kill. After some careful thinking, she called him and mentioned about the waxwork. Xiao Hui a.s.sured her that the museum would be open in several days. It was the best time to send him the work.   Everything went so smooth, Ji Fengjun felt like the heavens were also helping her. Xiao Hui helped him send Zhao Yu to the museum, and then invited her to The Other Sh.o.r.e restaurant.   When they finished the dinner, she took him back and drugged him. But she didn’t kill him, because she still had only half-done the work on Zhou Liang. So Xiao Hui was tied up. At first, each time when he became sober and was half-awake, she fed him some more of the drug. This happened until the police found him, when he had just woke up, and by this time he had developed a mental issue.   It was eight days after Zhou Liang had gone missing. Why didn’t she finish the work? I raised the question, and another related question: Why was it eight days? Why not other numbers of days? Ji Fengjun laughed, but soon her tears came down. As she was stared at the video, she bit her lip so hard that she was bleeding. “Lin Hao went to see me when I brought back Zhou Liang. I forgot what I thought at the time, but I didn’t want him to see Zhou Liang, so I didn’t let him enter the room. Not because of fear—I was just unwilling. We went out for dinner, and then we had an affair in the hotel. He said the woman went on a business trip, so he could stay with me for some more time. Then he said he needed some time, asking me to wait for him. He would work hard to give me a promising future.” When she mentioned this, she lowered her head and cried.   Lin Hao’s abrupt visit broke her plan to create another work, or we would have found two bodies in the museum. She also told me that eight was a lucky number for her. This case was clear now, but my mood was still bad when I thought about the forum’s very existence. I had to figure it out. Last time it was a coincidence, but was that true now, in this case, too? “I don’t want to see Lin Hao. You’d better let him go,” Ji Fengjun said quietly. She became herself again.   In fact, I had no idea about her quick changes of extreme moods. Sometimes she was indifferent, sometimes she became angry, and just now she was in deep sorrow. Besides, her cooperative att.i.tude also confused me. “Why? Don’t you want to see him again? Love him or hate him, you have no word to say to him?” I asked. Ji Fengjun gave me a poor smile. “I have told him.”   Suddenly, I understood. She had already talked to Lin Hao. Maybe at the time Lin Hao called her after we left the company. But Lin Hao didn’t tell us. I still had some doubts, but I couldn’t catch my thoughts. Lin Hao was found sitting in a corner without any spirit. He was staring straight, totally different from the man I knew.   “Zhu Xuan, I need some help here.” Xiao Teng was typing angrily at the keyboard.   I knew why he was doing this. “Don’t waste your energy! We can meet this midnight.” Xiao Teng looked at me and said, “Even at midnight, I have no reason to visit. At least talk to me.”
