"There are no noodles at my home. I have been so busy these days that I forgot to buy some."

I was stunned as I heard his words. I slightly glimpsed at him and said, "Why not go to my home and eat something? Last time you cooked the noodles, which were delicious, so now I will give you a chance to perform again." I couldn't help but laugh as I spoke.

Originally, I thought that Chu Haoran would refuse it. I didn't expect him to nod and say, "Okay".

I briefly looked at him and didn't think about it anymore. My thoughts returned to this case. At this time, there were mainly too few suspects, who all had proof of absence and no motivation for killing.

Based on the existing evidence, who had committed the crime? The murderer shut down Qiu Nan's electrical switch and attacked her when she went out to check the circuit. He must have killed Qiu Nan by one fatal twist of a knife before he began carving up her skin.

It was enough to prove that the murderer was extremely resentful of Qiu Nan, otherwise he would not be so cruel. Nevertheless, according to the transcripts of several people we had questioned, there was not such a person in Qiu Nan's interpersonal relations.h.i.+ps.

As I was buried in my thoughts, the car slowly stopped. After I came back to my senses, I found out that I had already reached my downstairs apartment. I said, "It seems that coming back tonight was faster than usual."

"Well, there are actually fewer cars on rainy nights, and it is very late now," Chu Haoran said it as he took the umbrella and got out of the car.

If someone was watching the rain outside from inside the house, maybe it was not so bad. He could drink some coffee and watch the scene, and even the rain could become very romantic. But things were different when people were outside, because even when you walked with an umbrella, you could still get wet anyway.

When I got out of the car, I found that Chu Haoran had come over to me with an umbrella like a gentleman. As I walked over to the corridor, I found that he was holding the umbrella over the top of my head just as before, which caused his shoulders and back to get wet again.

I subconsciously slowed down and thought about getting closer to him, only to find that the corridor was right in front of me. "Would you please remember to bring two umbrellas the next time? Lest you get a bad cold and say that this is all my fault."

Chu Haoran put the umbrella down and walked into the corridor, and said, "Since you are a patient, I should be nice."

I thought that Chu Haoran was only extremely serious when he worked. Although he seemed like the kind of guy who was difficult to get along with, he seemed to be very considerate. We had gotten along alone several times, and he always surprised me, so I was curious as to why he pretended to be indifferent. It was like he disguised himself and didn't want others to approach him.

After opening the door, I turned on the light and threw the key on the shoe rack as usual. However, after a few seconds, I suddenly straightened up and stopped just as Chu Haoran came in from behind me.

"What's wrong?" He was stunned by my movements and looked behind me with doubt.

"Don't look inside; I'm busy these days . . . so I don't have time to clean up my rooms. Can you please just wait outside for a second and I will clean them up?" My voice was getting lower and lower. In fact, this was not all my fault, as I really didn't have time to sort out my rooms.

Nonetheless, he seemed to sigh in relief when he heard me. He immediately laughed and said, "I am not coming to check your rooms. I am going to the kitchen to cook noodles, and you can just clean up."

I was embarra.s.sed to see him coming in without a care. I knew that he loved to be clean all the time, so the messes in my rooms may scare him. In fact, my rooms were not like this under normal circ.u.mstances. I cleaned up my home every three to four days. It was a pity that Chu Haoran came here on the day when I generally cleaned up my home. There were snacks, clothes, and books on the sofa, on the coffee table, and on the floor. . .

"Are you sure that your home has not been burglarized?" Chu Haoran asked. He obviously got a shock after he looked at all the messes.

I was both awkward and speechless. I could only push him to the kitchen, and say, "Go and cook now! I am desperately hungry!"

However, my kitchen was much cleaner, because I rarely cooked. When I was hungry, I always ate bread and instant noodles, as well as snacks. It was mainly owing to my poor cooking and my laziness.

As Chu Haoran boiled some noodles, I began to clean up the living room. At this moment, it was already after twelve o'clock at night. It was definitely the first time I had been so diligent since I was a child. At the same time, I had made up my mind that I would always keep my house clean and tidy in the future, otherwise it would be too embarra.s.sing.

After I had cleaned up for more than half an hour, my home was finally renewed, and that was the benefit of a small house. Chu Haoran had already cooked and was now leaning on the doorway, watching me and smirking.

"What are you laughing at? I am exhausted. This is all because you let me work overtime and didn't even give me a break. I have no time to clean up my home," I said unreasonably.

"Come and eat!" It was so rare that Chu Hao did not ridicule me.

There were bowls of tomato soup noodles on the table. I had eaten it before and I knew that the noodles were delicious. We settled, and I blew on my bowl and tried to eat noodles because I had not forgotten the lesson when I got burned last time. "I don't understand why I can't make such noodles with the same tomatoes and the same noodles."

Chu Haoran looked at me and asked, "How do you cook it?"

After swallowing the noodles in my mouth, I thought for a second and then said, "Boil the water, put the noodles and tomatoes in the water after the water is boiling, then add the seasoning, cook the noodles, and turn off the fire."

After saying this, I continued to eat, but I did not hear Chu Haoran's response. I looked at him with confusion and I saw his helpless expression. "What's wrong? Am I not right?" I asked doubtfully.

He finally lowered his head and did not speak anything at all. He just ignored me. However, I also learned later that compared with the dishes he made, the dishes I made were indeed difficult to swallow. . .

"Actually, this is not my fault. When I was a kid, I only ate and didn't learn how to cook. I have done it a few times since I grew up, but I didn't cook well, and therefore I simply gave up cooking," I explained, trying to find some excuses for myself.

After a while, I found that he still kept silent. I suddenly asked with curiosity, "Do you cook very well? You should be very busy, so how can you have time to clean up your home and cook?"

Chu Haoran finally ate up all the noodles in his bowl. After putting down the chopsticks, he said, "You are just lazy. Why do you make so many excuses?"

He said this as he went into the living room and left me alone in the kitchen. I pursed my lips and stopped talking. I just lowered my head and chewed the noodles and tomatoes to vent.

I subconsciously looked at my watch and found it was nearly one o'clock in the morning. After a slight hesitation, I said, "It is already late; maybe you can sleep on my sofa, or you have to drive home."

"Who said that I am taking off?" Chu Haoran's voice came from the living room, which sounded calm and soft.

I almost bit my own tongue. He did not originally intend to take off? I put the noodles in my bowl into my mouth. I quickly went to the living room, and said, "You . . . ? What are you doing? I just pretended to be nice. I didn't want you to stay here."

Chu Haoran leaned on the sofa and changed his position. Then he said, "Can I sleep in the bed? The sofa is too soft."

"What?" I was frozen.

"Unfortunately, there is only one bedroom in your apartment; I think I can put up with it," Chu Haoran said as he lay on the sofa. He even closed his eyes and was obviously ready to go to sleep.

I could only roll my eyes in silence at this moment because he had always ignored me. After I stood still for a few seconds, I took a deep breath to calm down. In the middle of the night, it was better for me not to be angry. . .
