Chapter 3: Arc 1, Part 2

Qiao Chen used a few days to familiarize himself with the system in his mind. The usefulness of the programming was wide-ranging; however, many functions of the system were a.s.sociated with the soul’s power index level. With his current level, many of the functions couldn’t be accessed. Nonetheless, Qiao Chen determined that everything he could access was more than enough to avenge Qi Beichen and bring back the High General’s soul.

Within these past few days, he used what was left of Qi Beichen’s bank account to buy some stocks. Then, he used the system to manipulate the stock market. The money grew- rolling and growing like a small, little s...o...b..ll into a giant one.

On this day, Mr. Qi was planning on taking Qi Beichen and Qi Yuxuan for a business meeting with the Wei conglomerate’s acting chairman. Instead of going to an office, they headed to a golf course.

In the previous life, Mr. Qi also invited Qi Beichen to this meeting; however, Shu Wenjie invited Qi Beichen out for drinks the night before. He poured cup after cup for Qi Beichen until he was dead drunk which in turn caused Qi Beichen to sleep in until noon the next day. Obviously he couldn’t attend.

In this life, ‘Qi Beichen’ repeatedly rejected Qi Yuxuan’s invitations to go out, so he hadn’t had the chance to meet Shu Wenjie. Qiao Chen was even less likely to miss this opportunity because he suspected that Chairman Wei, Wei Zhennan, was the target he was looking for.

At the golf course:

After seeing Wei Zhennan, Qiao Chen’s system immediately ran a test on Wei Zhennan’s soul. With a 100% match, Qiao Chen confirmed his suspicions that Wei Zhennan held General Aunan Andri’s soul.

Actually, even if Qiao Chen did not use the system to conduct the test, he would have been able to determine that Wei Zhennan was Aunan Andri. This was because, even though Wei Zhennan wasn’t as attractive as General Aunan Andri, they looked very similar. With such a handsome appearance, that was only a fraction of how impressive Aunan Andri looked, he could captivate thousands of women.

Mr. Qi saw Wei Zhennan take a curious glance at Qi Beichen. He introduced them to each other, “This is my youngest son. He just recently re-joined us.”

Qi Beichen and Qi Yuxuan were born almost at the same time, but technically Beichen was born a few hours earlier than Yuxuan. However, Mr. Qi didn’t know and only made an a.s.sumption on the basis of appearance. Yuxuan looked taller and much more mature versus Beichen who looked a lot smaller and younger.

Mr. Qi also told Qiao Chen, “This is chairman Wei. Although he is quite young, we are both in the same generation. You have to call him Uncle Wei – just like Yuxuan does.”

Wei Zhennan was the former chairman’s eldest son of the Wei conglomerate.  Mr. Qi called Wei Zhennan’s father “uncle”. So although Zhennan was younger than 30, he really was in the same generation as Mr. Qi.

“Uncle Wei.” Qiao Chen greeted. Presently, he was no longer like the Beichen who first came home, with his head constantly hanging low and flinching. Qiao Chen was just too lazy to emulate the original’s personality.

Wei Zhennan nodded his head at Qiao Chen and smiled. He also heard some news about the Qi family’s son being switched at birth.

Mr. Qi and Wei Zhennan walked along the path as they chatted about their contracts. Qiao Chen followed behind them and started up his system. Officer Molder Foley told him that General Aunan Andri’s soul most likely couldn’t s.h.i.+ft back from all those universes because the High General had unfulfilled wishes in each world. If Qiao Chen wanted to accomplish his goal, then he must help fulfill Andri’s aspirations before they could go back. Qiao Chen was able to load a program in his system to keep track of Wei Zhennan’s wishes. As the progress bar filled up, he knew that he was on the right path. Then, once that bar hit 100%, he would have successfully completed the task. Finally, he would be able to bring back General Aunan Andri’s soul.

After reading information on Wei Zhennan’s past life, Qiao Chen was perplexed. This was the definition of a perfect life! Since childhood, Wei Zhennan was the apple of his parents’ eyes. He was a genius with an extremely high IQ. Then, as he began his schooling, he skipped several grades. After, he became the head chairman at a very young age. n.o.body was able to undermine his power. Life did not throw him a single curve ball.

Leading such a life, what kind of regret does this man need fulfilled? Compared to him, the one that needed help with vengeance and unfulfilled wishes was Qi Beichen, right?

He stood by himself and watched Mr. Qi and Wei Zhennan play golf. As long as it was Wei Zhennan who made a swing, Qi Yuxuan attentively attended to him. Qiao Chen, on the other hand, had no idea what was going on. Luckily, the system was there to help him out. The system would correct him on anything he did wrong.

Qiao Chen thought about whether or not he should get closer to Wei Zhennan. Before him was a somewhat familiar face. It would have been quite convenient if he could just complete the task now, but he didn’t know if he could be as humble or attentive as Qi Yuxuan.

Wait a minute… the way that Qi Yuxuan looks at Wei Zhennan is different. That expression isn’t quite right! Is Qi Yuxuan bis.e.xual? Everything he did to get rid of Qi Beichen… if he and Shu Wenjie weren’t such an intimate relations.h.i.+p, then why else would Shu Wenjie help to that extent? How else would the second master of the Shu family come at a drop of a hat to help him?

With this realization, Qiao Chen used the system to pull up more detailed information on Qi Wuxuan and Wei Zhennan. Seeing all this, he could definitely tell that Qi Yuxuan was secretly in love with Wei Zhennan. He also had s.e.xual fantasies about both of them together- with him being the catcher.

To tell the truth, Wei Zhennan was too good of an eligible bachelor. He had both the looks and the family background. With this kind of person, of course he would attract the attention of women- even men would be captivated.

However, Wei Zhennan didn’t only have a rich and influential name. He was also exceptionally ruthless. Anyone who offended him suffered dearly. So Qi Yuxuan had the idea to pursue him, but never followed through. He didn’t dare confess any of his dirty little fantasies to Wei Zhennan.

If that’s the case, why not help Qi Yuxuan out a bit? Set the stage and watch the show… thinking of this, Qiao Chen couldn’t help but smile.

Wei Zhennan watched the ball as it few through the air. After it landed, he turned his head and saw Qi Beichen smile a playful and lovely looking little smile. He thought that Qi Beichen looked as cute a kitten smiling after it sneakily stole a piece of fish. He couldn’t help but smile at him too and then felt somewhat baffled. Wei Zhennan looked at Qi Beichen some more. He looked so gentle and handsome. His eyes were just striking and lively too. His pale, rosy skin seemed translucent in the sunlight…

When they reached the next hole, Wei Zhennan suddenly suggested, “It would be better if we didn’t need to play 18 holes to settle this. Let’s make a bet. If I win, we’ll sign the contract according to my plan. If Chief Qi wins, we’ll sign the contract according to yours. How’s that sound?”

Mr. Qi immediately shook his head and refused, “That’s out of the question. My skills can’t compare to yours, Director Wei. I have never once won a match against you before, and I certainly won’t win against you this time either. ”

“Then, let’s have some subst.i.tutes. You can have your oldest represent you, and I’ll let him play for me.” Wei Zhennan nodded towards Qiao Chen.

Mr. Qi looked at Qi Beichen too. He knew about Qi Beichen’s upbringing and socio-economic environment. He figured that here was no way Beichen was able to learn how to golf. Qi Yuxuan, on the other hand, had golf coaches who taught him how to play for quite some time.

“Are you serious, Director Wei?” Mr. Qi couldn’t tell if Wei Zhennan was joking or not. The cost of contracts on the line was quite the amount, and Wei Zhennan had never met Qi Beichen before. He didn’t know if he would dare bring him in to play.

“When I talk, aren’t I always serious?” Wei Zhennan replied. He waved Qiao Chen over. As Qiao Chen came to his side, Wei Zhennan enjoyed watching Qiao Chen move.

“Can you play?” Wei Zhennan asked.

“A bit…” Qiao Chen nodded, “I’ve been a caddie before.”

When Qi Beichen was still in school, he used his summer vacation to work as a caddie. In all actuality, his work as a caddie gave him a vague, general knowledge of golf. He  couldn’t even try a swing at all. Fortunately for Qiao Chen, the system could control his body to make a good hit. It could also manipulate the magnetic field and air in the world to control where the ball lands.

“And compared to Chief Qi?” Wei Zennan asked.

Mr. Qi had no confidence in his own ability to beat Wei Zhennan, but he was confident that Qi Yuxuan would win against Qi Beichen. He hastily agreed, “Comparable.”

Wei Zhennan acted as the caddie, personally opening the golf bag and selecting a club for Qi Beichen. Facing Wei Zhennan, Qiao Chen took the club and appeared at a loss. Then he looked at Mr. Qi. He didn’t want to lose to Qi Yuxuan; but if he won, Mr. Qi would definitely lose face, so he wanted Qi’s confirmation.

“Should I lose or win?” Qiao Chen asked Mr. Qi.

“You just play to the best of your ability. Don’t let Chief Wei think that we father and sons would even try to take advantage of him. If you can win, then by all means, help Chief Wei win.” Mr. Qi confidently spouted. He was 100% certain that Qi Beichen couldn’t beat Qi Yuxuan.

“If you get a hole-in-one I’ll even throw in a custom sports car, how’s that sound? You don’t have to worry if you lose. Remember, don’t stress out over it because it doesn’t matter.” This golf course was one of the Wei family’s properties, so Wei Zhennan was also the owner.

This was really worthy of being one of the top golf courses- to actually use a customized sports car as a reward for a hole in one. In the lobby they were in before, Qiao Chen saw an extremely beautiful looking blue sports car parked nearby. Even though he was wealthy enough to buy it, he couldn’t spend his own money as long as he stayed at the Qi household.

“Then that means that you won’t be mad if I win, right dad?” Qiao Chen finally asked.

“Of course not. You boys are playing this game fair and square. Whether you win or lose, both Chief Wei and I will accept the results. We won’t be angry at all.” Mr. Qi spouted again. On the surface, Mr. Qi looked serious, but he was inwardly celebrating as if he already won the bet.

Because of Qi Beichen’s conversation, Qi Yuxuan lightly glared at him. Qi Yuxuan walked ahead to begin the first swing. He hit the ball and watched it land. Then, he turned to change positions with Qiao Chen and walked to Wei Zhennan’s side. However, he walked too quickly and b.u.mped into Qiao Chen’s arm.

Since Qiao Chen wasn’t expecting Qi Yuxuan to b.u.mp into him and coupled with the fact that he was walking down hill, so he lost his balance even though it wasn’t a hard b.u.mp. Wei Zhennan immediately reached out and caught Qiao Chen’s falling body. He pulled him in. Then, as Qiao Chen was pressed firmly against Wei Zhennan’s chest, the system immediately activated the soul loading settings. Qiao Chen was stunned and stopped moving.

Wei Zhennan thought that Qiao Chen was in shock and asked, “Is everything all right?”

“It was nothing.” Qiao Chen immediately stood up. He wasn’t so weak that he’d be in shock because he tripped. He suppressed his feelings of unease, because he knew that this wasn’t the time or place to think about what just happened.

“Sorry Beichen. You aren’t hurt are you?” Qi Yuxuan insincerely apologized. He really hadn’t mean to b.u.mp into Qi Beichen. He had plenty of methods planned to deal with Qi Beichen, but he wasn’t an idiot. He wouldn’t harm Qi Beichen in front of his father or Wei Zhennan.

Qiao Chen launched the system. He a.s.sumed the perfect golf posture, set up the club against the golf ball, and swung. The white golf ball shot into the air with a beautiful arc off into the distance.

A hole in one!

Mr. Qi and Qi Yuxuan’s faces immediately turned ugly.

Wei Zhennan smiled and clapped, “Congratulations on a hole in one.”
