Astreya's house was like a log cabin, currently being showered by rain.
Inside the house there was nothing apart from a bed and a table.
If her body was dirty, she could cast purification magic; and in the first place, she didn't eat any meals as she wouldn't die. That's why she never felt inconvenienced once. But――right now, she encountered a troublesome situation for the first time.
To start with, where should she make the horse, that was carrying the young man, stand.
Astreya's house has no front yard, of course there was no stable for horses either.
She never had any animals inside the house, but since there were no other options, she invited the horse inside. She felt a bit anxious, but this was a horse that had obediently transported the young man. So she trusted that it wouldn’t act violently.
“So… don't act violently, okay?”
The horse returned a neigh to the anxious looking Astreya. Fine, let's believe in him.
However, what came next was an even more troublesome story.
“I have only one bed though…..”
If I surrendered the bed to this young man, I would have to sleep on the floor.
That’s still fine. However, the act of handing over my own bed to the young man was considerably embarra.s.sing. The main point is that, before this, I always thought that inviting a man to the bedroom is an unforeseen action――in all my four hundred years of knowledge.
(Even so, a man and a horse entering is an irregular circ.u.mstance. That's why this is something that couldn’t be helped…..!)
Astreya persuaded herself like this, and then laid the youth in the bed――she suddenly realized. The young man's clothes were very wet. The bed would be stained like this, and the youth might catch a cold.
“......But, there aren't any men's clothing here…...In other words, I'll have to take them off, but I can't do such an improper thing…..!”
While saying that by herself, Astreya's face turned red and greatly shook her head. No, I hadn’t thought of a single thing that I would be guilty of. That’s why I don't need to be embarra.s.sed, and I have to treat him――
(That's right, treatment!)
To see the state of his injuries, I have to take off his coat. Then there would be no problem――and so Astreya told herself, and laid the young man on the bed and unfastened the first b.u.t.ton of the youth’s coat with trembling fingers…….As expected, it was embarra.s.sing.
After she opened all the b.u.t.tons, Astreya vigorously pulled his s.h.i.+rt to the side.
And examined him by directly touching his skin.
(The blood that continues to ooze bothers me but, it looks like he doesn’t have any fractured bones? Or has it already healed)
While feeling relieved by the fact that the young man didn’t show a pained expression, she decided to dry his clothes.
She could dry them with magic, but right now she is completely exhausted and doesn't want to use magic. In the first place, she couldn't dry them by using a relatively violent hot wind, so if there were a lot of clothes, she would just normally hang them to dry. It was something she did before becoming an immortal, since she didn't go out to town that much, she had learnt to value clothes. As she currently doesn't know the right temperature for the hot wind, magic could end up ruining the clothes.
“E――tto…...If I cover this person with the quilt, he won't catch a cold…..right?”
Now... how did humans catch colds again? …...As she thought that, her memories were incredibly vague, but for once, she believed that even if he were to catch it, he could be cured. So, she decided not to think too deeply into it.
However, what concerned her earlier was that the blood still hadn't stopped oozing.
Although it’s a wound that couldn't be cured, but Astreya's magic power was at its limit, and she didn't want to use recovery magic.
Recovery magic couldn’t be thought of as a normal spell, as it consumed a huge amount of magical power.
“……”
But, even by using that recovery magic earlier this wound remained.
It wasn’t a nice instant death, thought Astreya.
If he died, even Astreya wouldn’t be able to resurrect him.
“......But, this much would heal by itself. It's enough even if I don’t overdo it when I’m curing him.”
However, if he were to turn over in his sleep, the blood would stain the sheets and…..as expected, that wouldn't be good. I don’t have things like bandages, but if I tear some cloth, I might be able to use that instead.
It’s just that, the only thing that I have for cloth here is only the sheets. Tearing cloth by force is difficult as expected, thought Astreya as she tried it.
“.....Do I have to go buy it again?”
She understood that『I have to tear it myself』however, she couldn't help but feel angry about the fact that she picked something troublesome. She really didn't want to go shopping anymore. While thinking like this, Astreya tightly wrapped the young man's body in the subst.i.tute bandages with unnecessary force. It was far from a clean execution.
“……”
Perhaps by wrapping him in bandages she might have unnecessarily aggravated his injuries――but even when she already thought so, she didn’t unwrap him as she already went through the trouble of tearing the sheets and wrapping him. If he has any complaint, then he should wake up and remove them himself.
“Just the fact that it would heal should be something to be happy about!”
I wonder how deadly an injury that is, in this way even Astreya's dishonesty came out.
After saying that, the calm sleeping face of the young man become somewhat irritating.
Her harsh words, however, were drowned out by the sound of the horse's neighing, going unheard by the young man.
