Chapter 13 The Difference

Jiang Senyuan’s apartment, from the living room to the bedroom, was completely clean and clear . Even the floor was clean enough to reflect the sunlight . The window was open, and the curtain was waving with the wind, giving the whole apartment a lively sense . All the furniture was well arranged, except for the sofa .  Leng Muxuan was laying on the sofa, watching a TV program . From time to time, laughter came from the TV . As a comparison, sounds of cooking ingredients being cut were heard from the kitchen . Jiang Senyuan was holding a knife to cut some green Chinese onion . She sighed for every cut, until the one hundredth cut . She found herself someone taking a matter to heart . She couldn’t be at ease with Leng Muxuan’s domineering personality . If someone else was in her situation, would she be happy? Especially when she saw Leng Muxuan enjoying the TV show while she was busy with all the housekeeping ch.o.r.es .

Jiang Senyuan put the well-cut Chinese onion pieces into the pot, together with some ginger and Sichuan peppercorn . Cooking fish was her specialty dish . At first, she didn’t want to show off so early . However, she hadn’t been able to buy any vegetables to bring home . So the fish would serve .  How lucky Leng Muxuan is, she thought . Jiang Senyuan tried to find comfort, telling herself that if she was in a bad mood, the fish wouldn’t be the perfect . Soon she turned to focus on cooking . When she brought out the dish, Leng Muxuan finally noticed her existence . He stretched and said, “The smells is good . I am not sure about the taste . ”Hearing his comment, Jiang Senyuan’s hand trembled and some soup dripped onto the ground .  

“Haven’t you ever heard the saying ‘no pain, no gain’? No need to doubt my cooking, because you won’t get a chance to taste it . ” She was so angry that this guy didn’t help and even suspected her capabilities . This was her specialty . But Leng Muxuan automatically ignored her words, and asked, “Where is my bowl and chopsticks?”Jiang Senyuan was irritated . She thought of how a hen looked with all her feathers ruffled up . She was almost out of control . But she had no way to deal with him . She went back to the kitchen to get the bowl and chopsticks . She was so rushed that she stepped on her own shoestring and fell, which made her mood worse . Jiang Senyuan was cursing in her head, and didn’t notice the strange expression on Leng Muxuan’s face . Though making fun of her was his purpose, when he saw her trip, his heart got tight, and he reached out his hand to help, but missed . When he realized his subconscious reaction, he stared at his hand in the air dully, until Jiang Senyuan brought back some tableware .  Jiang Senyuan was so angry that she sat down and began to eat by herself . Leng Muxuan found another set of tableware, and his eyes narrowed . This girl had a sharp tongue with a soft heart . He tried a bite of the fish . Good, without any fishy smell, but instead boasting a special fragrance . “Hey, why not open a restaurant yourself? You don’t need to work for others; it’s just a waste of your skill . ”He was praising her sincerely; however, Jiang Senyuan thought it was another ironic comment . She kept silent, eating the fish without taking him seriously . But after several seconds, she began to scream . Her high voice surprised him . “Dead wench, what’s wrong?”Before Leng Muxuan could figure it out, she started to cry and her tears dropped . This totally rattled him . “Why are you crying? For what reason?”Jiang Senyuan refused to answer him; she shook her head and couldn’t stop her tears .
