Chapter 16 – My World at Night (2)

"Neil, let's go to the goblin village next!"

As for these new [Dark Magic] skills, I wanted to test them out more. Alright, let's go hunting now. Anyhow, it's night time, it's my—no, it's our time!

We arrived near the goblin's residence.. which was actually a makes.h.i.+ft tent up close. It's too small to be considered a goblin village; the appearance from a distance is quite deceptive.

There were two goblins acting as lookout guards while three were asleep on improvised beds from branches and rags. A total of five enemies.

The goblins are moving under a basic team pattern. They are probably the first enemies of players new to a party system. I think this is where teamwork would be displayed, with mayhem simply following after. Just imagine a group of players and party of enemies clas.h.i.+ng—Oh, it would be quite a sight. Well, for a soloist like me..

“There should be no nuisances if I knock down everyone with a single blow.”

Neil looks at me as if it wanted to say something. What is it? Is the method too ruthless? Somehow, I could understand what it wanted to tell to me: I should just approach quietly and finish them in a surprise attack with magic.

However, I'm not too fond of underhanded methods. Although I did it to the rat from before, I'm actually not good at sneaking up.

"So, shall we engage in a direct frontal attack?"

I let Neil fly overhead to the sky above as I firmly trekked on the ground, closely approaching the goblins.

"Gokigenyou**, sorry to disturb you at such a time at night." I greeted the goblins with a wicked smile.

**T/N: formal greeting used by females. Btw, anyone who has read reiksama will understand this xD

The goblins on the lookout immediately show surprised expression upon seeing me who appeared from the darkness. As soon as they took sight of me, the enemy, a goblin goes to wake its other sleeping companions and three new creatures soon joined the formation. The five goblins surround me, ready to attack.

"I don't have any grudges against you. Nor did I receive a quest to suppress you.. Please just die for the sake of my experience points."

I couldn't resist emitting a maniacal laugh at such a situation. Placing them under [Dark Bind], their movements were immediately halted. The five enemies around me are restrained before they could take their first action.

"Neil, dark mist!"

Neil, who was flying high up, scatters dark mist on my command. As a result, the abnormality [Darkness] is imposed on the unsuspecting goblins. Simultaneously, I casted [Wind Cutter] to also disperse the flames from the torches.

I started casting from a distance—a 10 second countdown, while properly aiming towards the spot where the goblins are. The restraint effect has expired, but the darkness abnormality still lingers. When the goblins finally regained their vision, they finally caught sight of my form.

"[Dark Burst]."

However, it's too late for them. The five goblins are simultaneously blown away from the sheer power of the dark magic explosion, the HP bars drastically plummeting to zero. Such magnitude of power is truly frightening.

The winds from the aftermath of the attack brushed against my face. After everything has settled down, I confirmed the situation of the area. Every goblin within the circ.u.mference of the [Dark Burst] has disappeared.

Neil who was observing from the sky, returns to me to perch on my shoulders. For some reason, he gives me the similar piercing gaze from before. Although I did not make a surprise attack, was my attack too overboard and simply unfair? Or are you curious of the magnitude of power I unleashed?

"Neil is the reason why my attacks are so powerful." I answered, thinking it was probably the latter.

Time ticks by, night progressing and my hunting continues. Since it's dangerous if Neil gets attacked, it had only been supporting me from a safe distance, such as flying in the sky. Meanwhile, I was on the ground releasing [Dark Burst], annihilating all goblins on my path.

"I'll go over there next."

I fought with goblins repeatedly for the remainder of the time. When I was about to unleash another [Dark Burst], light catches my eyes from far away. It wasn't light coming from the flames of the torches or bonfire, rather, it was the beautiful morning light from the rising sun.

"Ah, this is bad."

The immense power of the dark burst declined as sunrise arrived. Consequently, the effect of [Moonlight] would also be gone. As a result, the goblins who were knocked down from the blow still had some health remaining. Under [Nocturnal], Neil also enters night mode and sinks into a blissful sleep. Afterwards, the enemies' information disappeared.

"Heyy, please wait."

Surrounded by five goblins, I couldn't escape my imminent death and thus, I returned to the town of Dilord through dying.

"My first death.."

After dying, I was resurrected back to the place where I first appeared in this world. This place has probably been registered as the return point when I die, although I was unaware of it.

That was quite an experience, I must say. I remembered how my HP bar disappeared; aah, the goblins must have felt this way too. This must be my punishment from rampaging too much.

Nevertheless, I can only do such a thing in the evening. It's impossible at daytime—I must avoid battle during the day as much as possible.

"Neil, are you okay?"

Neil doesn't answer my question. It was nestled comfortably in my shoulder, completely asleep.

Various people were coming and going in the town bathed under the early morning sun. Sometimes, I could catch bits of conversations and understand the contents a little bit. Thinking about it, each person has their own lives—a story spun in this world.

Somehow, I feel that the next task has come to light.

First of all, the limit for my equipment is already near. I should gear myself up in new and better armor. From the combat awhile ago, there's no problem with attacking since my magic power is already high. However, the protective gear I have currently equipped is almost worn-out. From the attack I received from the goblins, it can be deduced the defense of the wizard is paper-thin, there isn't even a significant change even with equipment on. Well, it's still better than nothing.

And then the roleplaying aspect. Because I already have the language skill, the future will come when I will be able to speak perfectly. By then, I should be able to roleplay properly. Therefore, I should do acting in relation to Chloe's character setting to the best of my ability.

However, I'm logging off for the meantime. There's a death penalty too—I'll just take a break until it is gone. After cancelling Neil's summon, I logged out.
