Chapter 9

Before coming, Rong Yi had imagined many different scenarios.

Naturally, the outcome he preferred the most, was to let the other party take the initiative to refuse. He would deliberately act with repugnant behaviour. In theory, it seemed feasible. However, in reality, he had a bottom line. After all, Rong Yi himself was an Omega. He was too clear of what kind of behaviour would turn an Omega away.

It's easy enough to think of, but the actual execution would be difficult due to his limited acting ability.

Therefore, he intended to take a simpler route. First, he would explore the other party's tone; if it seemed good, he would reveal his gender.

If Zhou you was as difficult as his uncle, it could only be dealt with afterwards.

At this moment, Zhou Li seemed to have a good att.i.tude towards him. He'd even opened with a cla.s.sic pick up line, making Rong Yi feel somewhat unprepared.

However, in order to reduce the degree of goodwill, Rong Yi deliberately chose the most uneasy response.

“No, you should be mistaken."

“No,” Zhou Li smiled and looked at him. “Mr Rong, you're so handsome. After seeing you, I couldn't forget. You let me think…"

“Do you want to go buy the tickets first?” Rong Yi interrupted him. “It's about to start.”

A blind date in a movie theatre wasn't a good choice.

It was inconvenient to speak and wasn't conducive to communication and understanding. Rong Yi chose to go to the cinemas purely because he didn't want to have any positive contact with the Omega.

The film was chosen by Zhou Li and was a particularly boring literary film. The shots, however, were beautifully filmed. Under the beautiful scenery of the long shots, the actors sang a few lines, making Rong Yi yawn.

There was a couple in the row in front who were eating from same popcorn bucket; constantly whispering or putting their heads together.

Rong Yi looked at them from the gap between the front seats, and subconsciously grabbed the tip of his right hand with his left hand.

Both hands were cold.

The air-conditioning in the cinema was a little too strong and the temperature was too low.

He felt cold.

This place was too bad. he didn't want to stay any longer.

When he tried to get up, he found that Zhou Li was yawning in a very exaggerated manner, and his pair of big eyes looked damp in the light of the screen.

He looked really cute, making Rong Yi want to reach out and ruffle his hair.

It seemed that Zhou Li didn't like these types of films either. Why did he want to see it?

The doubts of Rong Yi were answered within five minutes.

"…I just wanted to go through the motions,” said Zhou Li, walking with his head down, “so I picked the one that was the most boring. I'm sorry."

Rong Yi felt a little embarra.s.sed.

After leaving the cinemas, the yawning teenager immediately followed him and asked if he wanted to see something else or go somewhere different.

Now would probably be a good time for Rong Yi to tell Zhou Li about his second gender.

Unfortunately, he hadn't spoken yet when Zhou Li sighed.

“Mr Rong really doesn't remember at all.” He looked up at him. “I really saw you. It was last month, in the downstairs of the mall less than ten minutes away. I asked for your contact information but you wouldn't give it to me.

Rong Yi had a vague impression of the incident, but couldn't be sure.

“There must be many people who ask for your number.” Zhou Li spread his hand. “You can't remember me.”

“Sorry, I…"

“You're still not interested in me, are you?” asked Zhou Li.

Such a direct person was difficult to resist but also saved a lot of trouble. It made Rong Yi sigh in relief.

“…I don't think I'm so bad,” Zhou Li looked annoyed. “I've been rejected for the first time. Oh, no, the second time. The last time I saw you, I was also rejected. It's been a long time for me to have finally found an excuse to talk to you.”

Of course, he's not bad. As a h.o.m.os.e.xual, Rong Yi also thinks he looked very cute; his character was still very likeable.

Normal Alpha would be satisfied with a blind date like Zhou Li. Unfortunately, Rong Yi was not an Alpha.

“My uncle used to introduce me to some strange people. When I saw you today, I wanted to thank him for the first time."

"…I'm sorry.” The situation was becoming more and more embarra.s.sing.

After all, he is most likely the weirdest of them.

Zhou Li looked at him. “Is there really no chance?”

From the perspective of love, Rong Yi actually had a good impression of this Omega. So he decided to tell him the truth.

“Your uncle seems to have misunderstood a little,” Rong Yi said, “in fact, I'm like you…”

“You also fell in love with me at first sight?” Zhou Li's expression didn't look serious.

Rong Yi smiled and continued to say, "…I'm also an Omega."

Zhou Li froze, frowning at him and didn't say anything.

“It's true,” stressed Rong Yi. “I can show you my…"

ID card.

His ident.i.ty was still being reissued and his ID card wouldn't be available for the time being.

In order to prevent Zhou Li from trying to break the secular prejudice and ignore his subjective will–like a few Omegas he had previously pursued–he quickly emphasized one sentence.
“You, don't look at me like that; I am indeed a standard straight."

Zhou Li's expression was subtle. "…Are you saying that to deny me?"

Rong Yi was devastated.

After that, he and Zhou Li had tangled for at least half an hour.

This Omega had graduated from University but still had a baby face. Looking like a boy of 17 or 18-years-old, it was easy to arouse the mindfulness of other seniors.

He said that it was the first time in his life that he'd been arrogant. When he first saw Rong Yi in the cinema, he even thought it the will of the heavens. It was a pity that he quickly realized that Rong Yi had a strong perfunctory response to their meeting.

But even so, to have this opportunity, he still hadn't wanted to give up easily. After all, it was the first time in his life that he fell in love at first sight.

At the time, Rong Yi thought silently in his heart. Falling in love with me like this is no big deal. You'll likely feel like a blind man afterwards.

“In the end,” said Zhou Li, “since we're both Omega, can we be friends?”

He obviously wanted to refuse, but Rong Yi just couldn't find the right reason. What's more, if Zhou got depressed and went back to say harsh words, the bald man would make his life miserable.

After exchanging WeChats, Rong Yi also specifically showed his gender on his information page to Zhou Li.

Seeing that the other party was still suspicious, he decided to wait for a new ID card. He must take a photo immediately and set the close-up of the gender column to the top of the WeChat circle.

When he finally got home, he was a lot hungrier than he thought he would be.

After all, they hadn't gone to eat together after the movie had finished.

During dinner time the takeaway service was too slow, so he turned on the gas to boil some noodles.

Rong Yi was very good at cooking, but unfortunately, his daily work kept him busy. Most of the time, he felt nervous when he returned home. So basically, going to a restaurant wasn't as convenient as ordering takeaways. Occasionally, he would eat noodles for a change of taste.

Although he had time to cook in the weekends, Rong Yi found it depressing to cook for himself.

Just one week prior, Rong Yi had thought he would soon have the chance to cook for someone he liked.

Chen Keyao was so annoying that he appeared in his thoughts in such an abrupt manner. If only his memories could be as easily erased as numbers from a phone book. This d.a.m.ned Alpha was like a happiness overdraft station; all the joy from his harvest was borrowed, and now it was his turn to pay the interest.

But this interest was too high. It was endless and could not be paid. Rong Yi felt that he was lost.

Rong Yi stood in front of the kitchen in deep thought, until the phone rang.

Rong Yi quickly picked it up and found a promotional advertis.e.m.e.nt. After opening the app, he saw a new, unread message.

The sender was Zhou Li and the content was a picture.

After looking at the image, Rong Yi wasn't sure if he should laugh or cry. The photo was of him attending a sports meeting at University. Zhou Li's picture also showed some of the forum comments, all of which were discussing whether he'd falsely reported his gender.

Rong Yi remembers this post, which was posted on their school BBS. At the end of the post, he had personally commented an image of his student ID card.

Zhou Li had obviously searched him up after their date.

“Do you believe it?” Rong Yi replied.

Zhou Li sent a call request. After the connection, Rong Yi immediately heard his voice crying.

“I'm so sad,” he said.

Rong Yi: “…sorry.”

“But… at least I can take comfort in the reason you rejected me. Although my chest feels tight, it doesn't seem to be so bad.”

“You're really good,” he said, comforting him. “You don't know how much I envy you. In fact, shouldn't it be easy for Omega like you to find partners?”

“I wasn't going to find anyone…" Zhou Li said.

From a certain point of view, he is very much like the ant.i.thesis of Rong Yi.

Although his outer appearance was cute and lovely, inside, his bones ached for independence.

But because of his baby face, when he spoke of his want for independence, he was treated with contempt. Much of it didn't come from malice, but from so-called “care.”

He wanted to work hard, but his family felt that as an Omega, he needed to marry and have children. So the source never stopped arranging blind dates for him.

“My uncle is really sick,” he complained to Rong Yi. “He's never introduced me to a normal person! Oh, I didn't mean you're not normal…But you really aren't normal!"

Rong Yi wasn't angry. After all, this meant that he had Zhou Li's trust, and wouldn't have to worry about Baldy trying to embarra.s.s him. Besides, he seemed to have made an interesting friend.

Each had their own problems. Rong Yi also followed with a few complaints.

Contrary to Zhou Li, he wasn't a very serious person. However, due to his lack of social life, all he had to focus on was his career. At his young age, he'd already become a person in charge of a project. The heavy responsibility also ate into his spare time, leaving him with no time to find a partner.

Although his parents ridiculed him for not getting married, he wasn't in a hurry. After being pestered for a while, he had said that he wouldn't mind going on a blind date. The response he received was, “your date was scared away when he heard how tall you are.”

The two men comforted each other a bit. Although the difference between their personalities was very large, their friends.h.i.+p was developing very smoothly.

Zhou Li suddenly spoke. “That…I suddenly had a thought. I don't know if you'd it…It's…"

“Tell me.”

“Can you pretend to be my boyfriend?” said Zhou Li.

“My uncle mustn't know you're an Omega,” he continued, “we don't have to actually be together; we can just say that we are. Ah, I really tired of all these endless blind dates."

“Uh…"

“Anyway, our circle of friends doesn't overlap at all.” Zhou Li said, “I'll try not to trouble you!"

Rong Yi hesitated.

This wasn't the first time someone had come to him with such a favour. The result of the fake drama was that the other party really did produce unnecessary feelings for him. The aftermath of the incident was quite troublesome.

The situation was inevitable.

"…You can charge a fee, but I'm still poor. If you're too expensive, I won't be able to afford it.”

Rong Yi was crying and laughing. He had just agreed to promise when he suddenly smelt something burning.

The author has something to say:
