Chapter 10 – Unleashed Anger (1)
…. …. …
Wicked, the young master and owner of the mansion by the cliffs was a prominent figure in Manzanna. Countless of rumors surrounded the youngest heir to the throne, which was currently headed by the eldest sibling from the infamous b.l.o.o.d.y family. Thousands of people died for them to attain the throne, and Wicked was in the middle of it all.
This was also how the current king was able to wash the blood off his own hands as he took the throne. Wicked, who had been young at that time, contributed greatly to his success with the throne.
He was both beautiful and powerful, it was clear to anyone when they saw his prowess in the battlefield. But it also made him the most brutal of them all.
Many thought Wicked would win the throne.
But his brother was the one who had been crowned.
It was a mystery.
Rumors circulated as the people kept wondering. Some would even go as far to say that Wicked had been cursed by the Sabbath witches as he fought them. Some also speculate that his heart had been locked away with a magical chain, tying him to death, until he could break free. It would explain his ruthlessness and fierceness in the battles that took place.
But what made him stood out the most was when he took on the mantle of being the guardian of a young Sabbath witch, whose name was Ribbon.
It could be his interest in her. It could be something else. One thing was certain; no one knew why he accepted the responsibility.
Many had accepted the latter rumors. After all, Wicked was an enigmatic man. He was difficult to read, and even harder to antic.i.p.ate. One could never know what to expect of him.
He also did not make any exceptions without special causes, which made it even more interesting. What did Ribbon possess, which made a man like Wicked, accept the responsibility of protecting her instead of just killing her then and there. He killed the other witches too after all. And yet he spared her…
Regardless of whether or not they've discovered the truth, this was the only change that the people began to feel dread. No one knows what the consequences would be due to this… exception.
Despite the rough start, Yoona ended up with the life she had always dreamed of having. Though she was in unfamiliar territory, she could not deny the luxury all around her.
And it was a satisfying feeling.
In the vanity in the room she stayed in, had consisted of various cosmetics, as well as dazzling jewelries. Not to mention the delicacies that had been served to her on the proper time.
It was almost like she was in heaven.
Of course, judging with how prim and proper Wicked had appeared, she had already expected much of his house as well, but even her imagination did no justice to the reality of his wealth.
Indeed it was not a house, but rather a mansion by the cliffs.
But also because of their precarious lifestyle, security was tight; made tighter now that she was to live with him.
She hadn't seen him today too.
Ever since last they met, she's never seen him around since. It's only been three days since she's heard he had returned home, but judging by his absence, he had a lot to do in a short time. He was also always going out to take care of some things.
Thus, Yoona found herself being watched closely by a servant in behalf of Wicked.
Which is why in his stead, his servant took care of her.
"I'm happy to see that there are only a few reporters around today." He said and gave her a warm smile. Unlike Wicked, he sported a chocolate brown hair, his eyes golden as the sun's rays pa.s.sed through his eyes with a joyful twinkle ever present. He was also easier to get along with, compared to Wicked. She also learned he was Wicked's right hand man, who usually only oversees household ch.o.r.es and maintenance whenever Wicked was indisposed of.
His name was Tomovoy.
"Wow," she mumbled as she saw the amount of reporters still waiting to hear about her apparent return from the dead, "I must have been really important to still have this many persistent reporters waiting just for me."
“It will be hard for them to approach the mansion as we have distorted the some areas outside." Tomovoy nodded.
“What?”
"Yes well, we've already prepared for a better receiving area, that's what I meant.” He was having a hard time explaining to her the power of his master, which involves manipulating matter. “Ahem..so as they couldn't roam around the mansion as rampantly as they did before.” He clarified.
"That's a relief." She sighed in exhaustion and slumped down in her chair.
"Well of course one can understand the excitement," he continued, "After all, it's not every day you hear the great witch Ribbon is back from the dead."
Smirking at her, he mused on how he'd been milking her for information on her resurrection ever since she began to stay with them.
"No matter how much you ask, you're still getting nothing." She told him, "I remember nothing, how could I remember how I've come back to life?" Tomovoy shrugged in response…
"I remember having a busy front yard as this once before." He told her, "It was around the time Master Wicked accepted to be your guardian. The reporters had a field day trying to catch a glimpse and take his side of the story, of course, it annoyed him a great deal." He added, "But perhaps, he'll make another exception this time and come with us."
Yoona was right, playing the amnesiac card proved to be quite beneficial for her situation. It certainly made her life easier, like asking questions about things that didn't make sense to her; or providing a good excuse to avoid unwanted questions.
Even just by feigning a confused expression gave her the ticket to wiggle out of awkward situations, and people were so eager to talk and explain to her things she never knew.
"Yeah, well, he's not here." She muttered, "You've seen him around lately?"
"Mr. Wicked is at the castle." He answered her calmly.
"Castle?" she asked, furrowing her brows
"Yes. He went to see his highness, the king, to discuss about the conditions and other concerns regarding your return."
"Oh, I see." She said, nodding in understanding. For a moment no one spoke, until Tomovoy decided to make her a little bit at ease.
"Maybe he'll be back at the middle of the day." He said. Yoona gave him a tight smile.
She doesn't really want him back.
Yoona closed her eyes, recalling the way his eyes sent s.h.i.+vers down her spines. Just looking at them made her feel weak, vulnerable. She snapped her eyes open, directing them to look out the window. Watching, she only saw the way the light peaked through the dark, heavy clouds.
"It's so… isolated." She said, looking at Tomovoy, "The mansion. I can't really see anything much from here. Does he come here to get away?" she asked, tilting her head…
"It does have little sun; the humidity also leaves much to be desired."Tomovoy explained,
"However this was the best place for the master."
Ah! She almost forgot. The tyrant was a blood-sucking monster.
Just like all other vampires, be it in myths or reality, they're all the same. They can never stand the sunlight. But she dare not use the term vampire, something about that word made her scared to death to use it. Probably because it didn't seem like something they used normally to describe him. It would raise more questions to things she didn't know how to answer.
For now, she must play Ribbon's part, as someone who lost her memory. She musn't stray from the image she had drawn for them.
"Anyway, it's been dull all day and I'm going crazy in my room." She clasped her hands together, unable to contain her boredom anymore. Even Tomovoy's presence was futile.
"Well," she said and suddenly stood up from her seat, "I'm getting a little tired being cooped up in my room." she said, and Tomovoy bowed in understanding…
"Then perhaps a stroll outside, in the village would be a better activity?"
