Faegan is said to be the infamous Plague's home, riddled with mult.i.tudes of his own followers. In that land, it's as if not even the law exists to govern their world. It's declared as a red zone, off-limits for everyone's safety. Nothing is known exactly about his abilities, but the academic community is a.s.suming that it could be related to something concerning the brain.
Yoona had been silent for a moment, before she spoke once again.
"Does that mean all the people on the land were brainwashed by this man?”
"Possibly, we can't rule it out, after all, wherever Plague goes, mysterious calamities follow, and anyone who had suffered under its effects go crazy, and begins to follow him."
Plague had been the most wanted man on the authorities. They did everything they could. They doubled the man power. They exhausted all resources, yet in the end, all they came up with was
more trouble.
Villages were attacked. People killed without mercy. Children and women kidnapped and or either sacrificed. Violence erupted everywhere into society; the authorities have tried to stop them from spreading but to no avail.
“The man also appeared in your hometown of Sabat. There was a plague, and many witches fell ill, but, oddly, not a single death or brainwas.h.i.+ng came out.”
"He also came to your hometown." Wicked stated, "To Sabat. There came a plague there too.
Many witches fell ill… oddly enough, none of them followed him at all."
"Wha - why?"
"Why indeed? Everyone else who caught the illness just recovered." Yoona remained silent…
"It was the only anomaly in his plague; at the center of it all was you, Ribbon." Wicked began,
"The Security Bureau was so certain you could thwart his own abilities. You've even been cla.s.sified as a risk-tolerant."
"What kind of abilities did I have?" she asked, interested on what she could do…
"I didn't know." He answered, "To be fair, as a risk-captain, your abilities were a state secret. Given his obsession with you, it was only logical to a.s.sume you indeed were a lethal a.s.set against him."
Yoona remained silent. Then she recalled her dream, something about it eluded her greatly. She couldn't understand it…
It was Ribbon, tied up against the wooden pillar, covered in wounds and her own blood…
People surrounded her. Now that she knew about them, she recognized them as not the usual crowd she saw, but rather it was the heathens.
Then there was the guy who talked to her…
Now she understood how they could kill her in such a cruel manner.
Ribbon had been a threat to them. A threat to Plague's plans.
She felt s.h.i.+vers run down her spine. She tried to keep herself calm.
She was right. This was much worse than she could handle. She wasn't one of the few people who wished to die. On the contrary, most people do not want to die at all.
She couldn't think of anything more terrifying. Just the thought of any second she could die or anywhere could be her deathbed. Not knowing where, or who was a threat, or when they'd come after her.
She couldn't begin to comprehend how this woman, Ribbon, had managed to survive and not go crazy with such perils surrounding her.
This body she was using. It was much more dangerous than she had thought.
But there was only one thing she kept repeating in her mind.
I don't want to die.
Having suffered death was one too many already. The fear was ever present all the more after that experience.
I want to live.
If this was a second chance, a second life, she wanted to live through it. She wants to see it until the end. Pagans be d.a.m.ned.
She'll fight to live.
