… … …
"Who are they?" she asked quietly as possible.
"Contaminated ones." he answered
"What?" she whispered back, it seems like the longer she stayed, the more there were things she ought to know about if she was stuck in a dead woman's body.
"Paganists as they're commonly known." He told her in an exasperated manner…
"So why would they attack you?" she asked, still confused at the whole situation she found herself in.
"Wha - they're after both of us!" he whispered back harshly, her questions becoming more and more ridiculous to him. At his response, Yoona let out a gasp of horror, finally realizing just how dangerous things were going to get… again. Yet looking at him, he seemed calm enough to make her think he was used to these types of surprise attacks.
But still, he could at least worry about the armed enemies. Not to mention they were outnumbered. Any sane person would worry, but not him. He must have crossed paths with them numerous times before…
He was like a walking death - magnet.
"Wait, no, I'm not dying again!" she harshly whispered back, "I've only been just revived only to fall back dead a second time now?! Ugh, this whole thing's ridiculous it's driving me crazy!" after her outburst, she felt shame afterwards. They were trying to hide from people trying to kill them, and her she was, throwing a fit.
Oh my, am I going to die again? But I've only just woke up! What did I do to deserve this?!
"Hey, are we going to die?" she asked him desperately, yet he was ignoring her, "Hey answer me!" she hissed out, "I can't die again. Oh please, oh please, oh please, I've had enough of this s.h.i.+t!"
His silence was even more unnerving, making her glare at him. It was like he was just lying there in wait for them to be found and finally killed!
"We're not gonna die." He said. It was dark but Yoona could tell he was rolling his eyes.
"But they're many!" she hissed, panicking as she noticed they were getting nearer and nearer by the second to where they were hiding. Suddenly, he stood up, revealing himself, "Hey what are you, crazy?!" she hissed back, grabbing his pants to tug him back down to hide.
But before she could convince him to hide once again, one of their throats was suddenly slit, and he fell to the ground, gurgling on his own blood.
Yoona froze on her spot.
What just happened?
Feeling smug about what happened, he gave her a smirk, "It doesn't matter whether there's one or a hundred of these paganists. Their weaknesses remain the same."
"His, his throat - it just -" She stuttered uncontrollably.
"The neck you should be worried about is your own." He stated dryly, "Now stay behind me. I still have some questions for you." Turning his attention to the paganists, another one of them got decapitated, dropping dead, "Like I said, we're not dying."
Yoona finally realized this man was more dangerous than those who were after them. How he managed to kill, not one but two without the use of any weapon or his bare hands was beyond her own comprehension…
It was either he had magic, or there was an invisible blade around them, cutting their enemies down. The paganists yelped in pain, while those that still stood engaged the man in combat, yet they couldn't land a single blow against him. She hadn't realized one of them had gotten close to her, but upon seeing her, she heard a gasp of horror…
"It's - it's the witch!"
"Wha - but she's supposed to be dead!"
"But it's her! I know her face during the burning, it's the witch come back from the dead!"
More murmurs of disbelief arose from the crowd around them, which slowly turned into hatred and anger.
"It's Ribbon! The witch is still alive!"
"Die witch! Die!"
Their hateful glares bore into her very soul. Their eyes hold nothing but contempt for her. The intent to kill was evident. Like a madman, the closest one to her charged at her, determined to go through with killing her, but he had forgotten one thing..
She was not alone, she was with an equally, if not, more dangerous man.
With lightning speed, he managed to intercept the attacker, and with a flick of his hand, he gripped a knife and slit his throat as well. His movements deadly and graceful at the same time; it was so quick, she was willing to bet he hadn't realize his throat was cut until it was over and done with…
Blood splattered everywhere, staining the ground, the leave and his clothes with crimson drops.
It was like a fountain of blood, flowing out relentlessly, and she grimaced and turned away from the gruesome sight.
Looking around, the dead bodies just kept piling up around them both.
"You killed him… them… you killed them," she muttered, in a daze as she tried to keep up with him through her eyes.
These paganists, contaminated ones, there stood no match for this man. The sooner they accept this, the sooner they'd be spared she thought.
"Kill her… kill the witch," they kept murmuring as if they were under a spell. It was as if they saw no one but her. They continued to advance, and he continued slaughtering them. One by one they fell to the ground. Not a single shout of pain, nor pleas for mercy came from any of them; they were like zombies, bereft of any feeling but their primal instinct.
"What is this? What's wrong with them?" she mumbled.
Does nothing make sense in this crazy world!?
She was then brought out of her thoughts as she began to notice sparks by his feet as he progressed in killing them. The light began to grow brighter. She noticed they were beginning to form into some sort of circle, drawing out the blood from each of the pagan's wounds.
