Chapter 390 A Random Battle
When it was gradually getting bright in the eastern horizon, an electric motorbike was entering Sudan's border from Egypt. A male driver and two female pa.s.sengers were seated so tightly together, making it seem like they were riding in a maglev car instead of an electric bike.
Just within a night, Ning Tao rode on the G.o.d's Will electric motorbike with Qing Zhui and Jiang Hao through Egypt and arrived here.
“b.u.mp, b.u.mp, b.u.mp…”
As they could not pa.s.s the checkpoints on the border routes, Ning Tao could only travel through the wilderness to avoid the checkpoints, so a b.u.mpy journey was inevitable. The G.o.d's Will electric motorbike trembled violently, and so did Qing Zhui and Jiang Hao behind.
Jiang Hao was initially supposed to sit behind Ning Tao but was worried that she would lose control of her demon powers and freeze Ning Tao along with the bike, and they would crash, so she gave up the seat in the middle to Qing Zhui. Her shaking at the back was nothing much, but Qing Zhui's shaking had directly affected Ning Tao's back. That image was like someone throwing things, perhaps a certain kind of tasty fruit, on Ning Tao's back.
The two women had not realized that the brakes on G.o.d's Will electric motorbike had long been pulled but it was still accelerating forward at an alarming speed.
“Won't the tires burst like this?” Jiang Hao's voice was slightly spiteful.
Ning Tao said, “They won't. Just sit tight.”
Jiang Hao pouted. Her hands, which were hugging Qing Zhui's waist, suddenly moved upward, going to Qing Zhui's bust.
“Sister Hao, what are you doing?” Qing Zhui's body stiffened suddenly, revealing a shocked expression.
“For safety of the ride,” Jiang Hao said.
“Thud!” The G.o.d's Will electric motorbike ran into a piece of rock, but what collided into Ning Tao's back was no tasty fruit. They were the tough bones of fingers instead.
Ning Tao sighed internally and steered toward the roads of the border instead. He thought that Jiang Hao would want to stay in Beidu to supervise the construction of the laboratory, but she was insistent on coming. He a.s.sumed that she had wanted to come experience the African culture, but he had realized that she was here to be a gooseberry. If he were to do anything to Qing Zhui or vice versa, she would be there to disrupt them.
Only when they were on the road did Jiang Hao release her hands.
Qing Zhui was feeling low-spirited but did not say anything.
Ning Tao focused on driving. The fastest electric motorbike in the world was driving on the roads of Sudan at 200 km/h toward the Congo. It was not always at this speed. He would slow down whenever they arrived in cities and villages. He would also stop at forests to check for spiritual soil using the Soil-seeking Inkstone and he would then draw two blood locks in suitable spots.
It was soon evening. A village appeared before them. Ning Tao slowed down, intending to speed up after they had pa.s.sed the village.
“Tao, are you thirsty? You've been driving for the whole day. You must be tired, how about taking a break before we go again. I'll get you some water,” Jiang Hao said affectionately.
“All right then, let's take a break here.” Ning Tao stopped the bike.
Jiang Hao and Qing Zhui got off the bike.
Qing Zhui went over to Ning Tao once she got off the bike and ma.s.saged his shoulders and neck.
Jiang Hao reached her hands out and slowly made a spherical movement. An icy field of energy was created between her palms. In an instant, a ball of ice appeared, just slightly smaller than a volleyball.
Jiang Hao held the ice ball up to Ning Tao. “Drink some water.”
Ning Tao: “…”
Jiang Hao's skill at making ice popsicles was actually really lousy, but it was all thanks to her making ice b.a.l.l.s that they were able to have water to drink when they were traversing deserts.
Jiang Hao pouted. “What? Are you unhappy with the ugly appearance of my ice popsicles?”
Ning Tao held the ice ball with both hands and forced a smile. “Can't you make them smaller?”
“Boom!”
A sound of explosion suddenly came from the village. The village was suddenly lit ablaze.
“Bang, bang, bang!”
Gunshots were fired. There were women screaming and children crying. The initially quiet village had suddenly fallen into chaos.
Ning Tao looked over. A black woman had just escaped from the village, fl.u.s.teredly running in their direction.
A pickup truck suddenly followed behind from the village. A heavy machine gun was installed in the back of the truck. The gunman at the back did not hesitate at all to pull the trigger. In the sound of deafening gunfire, bullets rained non-stop. That black woman was instantly torn apart by the bullets. She was not even able to die in one piece.
This all happened too abruptly. Even before Ning Tao could figure what was going on, that black woman was already lying in a pool of blood.
The gunman saw Ning Tao, Qing Zhui, and Jiang Hao, along with the G.o.d's Will electric motorbike beside them. After a brief moment of shock, he suddenly shouted something then struck agitatedly on the front of the truck.
The military pickup truck driver also saw the three of them and stepped on the accelerator. The pickup charged over under the sound of the revving engine.
Jiang Hao said, “Sudan is war-torn. I can't tell if these are militants, the rebel army, or terrorists.”
Ning Tao's voice was ice cold. “Who cares who they are. They killed the villagers and they will have to die. Qing Zhui, save the villagers. This is a great chance to gain merit. You all enter the village first, leave this place to me.”
As Qing Zhui's hand shook, a pair of snake claws were revealed. In the next second, she and Jiang Hao had charged into the village.
The gunman on the military pickup truck yelled something angrily then pointed the gun in Qing Zhui's and Jiang Hao's direction.
“Whoos.h.!.+”
An ice ball was launched from Ning Tao's hand. With a flash in the sky, it crashed on the winds.h.i.+eld of the vehicle.
“Bang!”
With a rumble, the winds.h.i.+eld of the military pickup shattered. That ball of hard ice fell on the driver's head after smas.h.i.+ng through the winds.h.i.+eld. The driver's head wobbled like jelly then fell on the steering wheel.
The military pickup lost control and drove into a tree by the roadside. In the dull noise of the collision, the body of the gunman in the back of the truck was thrown out before he could even aim his gun at Jiang Hao and Qing Zhui.
“Bang!”
The gunman fell hard to the ground then tumbled, only stopping after rolling a few times. He reached out to grab his gun, but at this moment, his eyes were gaped wide open, looking in a direction in great fear.
An electric motorbike flew into the sky with the help of a rock. It flew over a few meters' distance, then its front wheel landed on the neck of the gunman.
“Crack!”
The gunman's neck was instantly flattened, leaving only a layer of skin on the ground.
The G.o.d's Will electric motorbike charged toward the village entrance. The man on the bike was wearing a hoodie, his windbreaker flapping with the wind. With a Mauser pistol in his hand, he was exuding a murderous aura.
Qing Zhui, who had already arrived behind a house, turned her head around to take a look. A heartfelt smile surfaced on her face. Even though Ning Tao was riding on a mere electric motorbike and was nothing majestic, he was the most chivalrous hero in her heart.
Jiang Hao charged past Qing Zhui and coughed.
Qing Zhui then turned back, following her into the village.
In the village, more than 10 armed men and two military pickup trucks were surrounding dozens of villagers in an open s.p.a.ce. There were also more than 10 bodies on the ground, most of which were adult men. Some were healthy and strong young men; some were old men. Some were holding wooden clubs in their hands while others had axes or some rudimentary blades.
They were holding wooden clubs and axes to protect their village and families but they were no match for the fully armed militants.
A young girl in her teens was being dragged away by a militant from her mother's embrace. She was screaming, her eyes filled with fear. Her mother was kneeling on the ground. Her arms were wrapped around the armed man's leg, begging in tears for that armed man to not take her daughter away. But all she got in return was a forceful kick to her abdomen.
The woman screamed and fell to the ground.
That armed man dragged that young girl over to a black man who was standing beside a military pickup. That man was dressed in military gear and very obviously was the commanding officer of this group of armed men. He was smirking at the young girl, a look resembling a greedy and fierce beast flas.h.i.+ng in his eyes.
Suddenly, a blue shadow charged behind him. A few sharp snake claws ripped through his back and pierced through his chest. He turned around to look in fear. But before he could do so, a snake claw struck down on him and his head was seen in the air, then rolled down to the ground.
Qing Zhui had taken action. She needed to acc.u.mulate merit, and killing the commanding officer was undoubtedly the best choice.
More than 10 armed men were instantly alarmed and fl.u.s.tered. Some were yelling angrily while others were aiming their guns at Qing Zhui.
An electric motorbike suddenly charged toward the group of armed men. One of them who was standing at the back was launched into the air. The electric motorbike was like a heavy truck that had lost control, continuing to charge forward.
Ning Tao had also made a move. There was no way he would allow those militants to shoot at Qing Zhui!
“Bang, bang, bang!”
Shots were fired. All the militants with guns had all shot at Ning Tao. Bullets rained down on Ning Tao's body, but with the Heavenly Gem Magic Garment, these bullets were just like raindrops to Ning Tao. He could surely feel them but he would not be injured by them.
An armed man who was standing outside the group aimed at Qing Zhui, preparing to pull the trigger. A freezing gust of wind suddenly blew over. It instantly felt like a layer of skin was peeled off his body. He then collapsed to the ground and turned into a b.l.o.o.d.y and mangled ice sculpture.
Jiang Hao had also made a move. She had used the Heavenly Hossu, but it was just for one time. She used her leg to pick up the a.s.sault rifle dropped by the armed man she had just killed and aimed it at the few armed men who were shooting at Ning Tao.
Jiang Hao preferred using the gun to the Heavenly Hossu.
The battle was over in an instant, but those villagers were still clueless as to what had happened and looked at the three Asian youths with their mouths wide open.
Ning Tao came down from the G.o.d's Will electric motorbike and asked in English, “Can you understand English?”
A woman said, “I understand a little. I am the teacher of this village. Thank you for saving us. May I ask who are you?”
Ning Tao said, “We're from Shenzhou Charity Company. I'm a doctor, I can treat your casualties. May I ask if you're willing to accept our help? If so, I can stay to treat them.”
The woman answered, “Of course. What can I do for you?”
Ning Tao said, “Let me take a look at the casualties first. You can help us with interpretation.”
The woman nodded. “Okay.”
