 Adventurer’s Life Day 35 (Sun) – Morning – Comnes Town – Inn – Nessos’ Temptation

As the same with every day, I opened my eyes waking up to the usual room… I head out to the nearest watering well to wash my face and gotten myself dressed before returning back . Benedetta seemed to had just gotten up .

“It’s a rest day today is it . ”

“… Yeah, do you have some sort of plans for today Benedetta?”

“No, not really . Other than the usual training, nothing else . ”

“Then, wanna hang out around town?”

“Huh?… What’s with you all of a sudden?”

… I’m not quite sure why, but from the way she said it, I got a little offended by that…

Then again, I suppose I don’t blame her for saying that .

We’ve been doing nothing but hunting after all .

“No well, I was thinking as an active party that had always been just hunting, it would be a good idea to deepen our relations.h.i.+p more . ”

“I suppose so… Well, if that’s the case then I can take up on your offer for that . ”

Well with that, I managed to go out with Benedetta today .

As usual, Benedetta gotten herself ready with the olive green scarf and hood, so as to keep her whole face hidden .

In contrast, I’m not wearing the usual equipment on me, so right now I look just like a simple townsperson .

However, I had my bone dagger, summoning coins and carved stones around my belt .

While walking through the street, a pa.s.sing adventurer-looking woman brightened up as she chatted with Benedetta .

“?”

“… Ah, that person? She’s a friend of mine I met at the rock fields . There were times when we went herb collecting in the same area . ”

“Ohh . ”

Seems like even Benedetta has a lot of acquaintances among adventurers . Much more than I do at least… Speaking of which, the inn we’ve been staying at had a number of female adventurers there to begin with .

Perhaps that’s how she knows so many…

As we were walking while chatting with one another, we pa.s.sed by the street market, so we spent some time where I bought some bags for the skeletons and a hunting knife, while Benedetta bought some second hand clothes .

“… By the way, what is the name of our party?”

“… I never gave it any thought… Why’d you say that?”

“Honestly, I get a little troubled whenever my acquaintances would ask for it . ”

“… Well, I suppose any name would do… Though, is it really that important for a party of two people to have a name?”

“… Our party is pretty famous around town . Didn’t you not know?”

“Huh? That’s the first time I’ve ever heard of it . ”

“… Are you really that oblivious of it…”

According to Benedetta, we’re quite the talk among the aspiring adventurers around here…

Like I thought, walking around town with a large group of skeletons would definitely attract a lot of attention…I thought that since we didn’t get into trouble with anyone, it was alright .

“The problem is not that however… What would you do if you were asked on how you manage to get so strong so quickly by others or, even worse, by a client? That level of yours is extremely unheard of you know?”

“Uhm…”

She pointed out a scenario I was already vaguely concerned about… 

Indeed, even the life plan as a warrior I had been making all this time before, had been thought out well, but the one thing I never took into account was the growth speed compared to my peers .

Even the guards I was with before weren’t particularly strong . If they were to work as adventurer warriors right now, then they’d probably still be hunting sh.e.l.led rabbits by the rock fields… 

“It’s unusual for a person who only started just a month ago and is able to hunt large amounts of monsters at the western field by himself…”

“I – I’m not alone though…”

“… Well, in any case, it’s at least important if you were to be aware of how much attention you’ve drawing to yourself in town . ”

“Mhm . I guess so . ”

… Well, there’s quite a bit of benefits from being famous as an adventurer… but I feel some discomfort from gathering all this attention .

After that, we took a stop at Adonis’ shop to stock up on materials for ‘Plating’ before returning back to the inn .

The rest of the day was spent on re-’engraving’ all the rest of our equipment .

“Did you see that!? That right now?”

“Good job!”

Different from her usual self, Benedetta held up a guts pose after defeating an approaching Pebbled Spider with no problems .

(… I knew she was skilled, but I didn’t think she’d be able to defeat those spiders already and so easily…)

While being impressed, Benedetta moved onto dismantling the carca.s.s .

It seems like her degradation as a warrior was mainly from her lack of strength in holding a sword . Once that was somewhat returned, it felt like she had been capable of hunting rather abruptly .

At this point, she’s already stronger than I was originally, and that she even says that she still hasn’t fully recovered yet .

(… As a man, this is kind of…)

Though having said that, watching her in gleeful delightment gave me a sense of familiarity… it’s similar to how I felt back when I summoned my first skeleton .

Right… It’s a good thing now that Benedetta has a clear goal in getting stronger .

(Must be nice being able to fight close combat like that…)

Right now, all my work is handled through the skeletons .

Even now, I’ve developed my ability to the point where I can even take manual control of 3 different skeletons at once .  

I’m having one dismantle, while the other two are going around battling against monsters with the other skeletons .

In the process, I managed to even acquire the ability to see in the skeletons perspective…

This makes moving them around and giving more specific orders much easier… the number of possibilities increased .

Even so, I still shouldn’t neglect in collecting bones .

“Alright, that’s 26 of the equipment done . More to put into battle!”

“Haah, somehow…just watching this is making me feel ashamed of even getting all happy earlier . ”

… There’s still 2 left to go .

Once I’ve finally managed to create all the 28 equipments, pain suddenly surged up from my body .

“A – Owow!”

“… Already levelling up again…”

With that, one of my skills has now reached above the level 6 mark .

Since ‘Alchemist’ levelled up, that also means the effects of ‘Plating’ would need to be updated . Although I don’t plan on doing that just yet… I don’t want to be wasting money like this…

Since there’s really nothing special to do from this level up, I had a look around on my surroundings .

Since the weren’t that many monsters near us, the skeletons had been moving further away .

At that time, when I was moving away too far, Mario had to warn me not to go any further, but even though I’ve pa.s.sed that point already, I haven’t been contacted by him .

I contacted him myself out of concern, but it didn’t seem like any problems happened… though when I walked a little further, he gave a panicked response .

Seeing this, I can probably deduce the range increases from levelling up .

I suppose knowing this, I could increase the effectiveness even further .

Before I noticed it, the skeletons bags were all already full .

Realising that the skeletons bags were already full, we were preparing to go back, but there was another thing I just remembered and told Benedetta to wait for a bit .

“You wanted to test out the poison potion?”

“Yeah, I wanted to try it out earlier, but couldn’t . ”

Or rather, it’s more like I completely forgot about it .

I had the poison potion made and had it inside the slime container from Rostam, that Mario had specifically made for me, so I’d like to test the effect of this onto a monster .

The container had been made soft, so as to break if thrown, but not weak so at to be broken so easily .

Though, just in case, I had it stuffed inside a bamboo tube, in case it does break… though that I think about it, I could just have just left it with the skeletons…

Right on time, by the thicket to my right emerged another Great King Yamori to which I threw the poison potion at it with full power .

… The result, the container broke as intended, and the poison spilled onto the lizard .

Upon impact, the lizard continued on running despite being engulfed in a cloud of purple smoke spanning about 3 meters around it… but it eventually stopped moving…

I really don’t want to be holding onto this, so I’ll give to the skeletons next time… and at least about 3 meters away from me too .

Once the body seemed safe to dismantle, I just took out the bones and left the meat and skin where it was . Though monsters would probably avoid eating this… really now, what a mysterious potion .

It’ll take some time to create another one again, but it’ll be good to have this on reserve as it’s the most destructive means I have in my a.r.s.enal…

“… What a terrifying power…”

“But with it like this, I can’t really tell the full extent of it…”

I should try this out onto a much stronger monster before I draw any conclusions .

“Erm, there’s also this… I can throw this recovery potion at a companion to heal them…”

“… So, is that what you’re planning to do Nemo? Throwing a potion right at me when I’m hurt?”

“… Sorry nevermind…”

Guess there’s some things in the game I just cannot do…

– Adventurer’s Life Day 40 (Fri) – Before Noon – Comnes Town – Western Gate

It’s been 4 days since then .

Until now, we’ve been hunting everyday in the Gravel Fields .

Thanks to that, I’ve gotten all divine protections to level 8 .

Our hunting became increasingly efficient, and we’re already returning back to Comnes from hunting, and arrived at the western gate .

We’ve already been quite well acquainted with the guards here .

“Hooh~ done hunting already!”

“Yeah! Keep up the hard work!”

We gave our greetings to the two station by the bridge… I had Necromancer leveled up today so the number of skeletons should’ve increased, but I lack the materials for it, so I haven’t reached the limit yet .

At that, I heard a voice ringing in my head .

“Master! Could you come here!?”

It was Mario’s voice from Rostam .

… What happened here?

Judging from his voice, it seems to be like an emergency so we quickly head over to his place .
