The Universe Conspired For Us To Meet 30 I'll Keep Waiting For You Until You Come Back

Virat picked up the backpack with hopes written all over his face. It was a Mickey mouse backpack. He immediately erupted in joy upon seeing it. He hugged the backpack. He knew for sure who it belonged to.

He gushed while simultaneously stuttering, "S-Sir this backpack?"

The officer who was calmly observing him explained. "These are all the various stuffs gathered from this district. We've kept it here so that people like you can check if anything here belongs to them."

Virat's memories went to the day before Maya left; the same day on which he had gifted this backpack to her. They were sitting in their college campus in their usual spot at the cafeteria after cla.s.s. They had ordered coffee.

Maya said, "Virat I'm leaving tomorrow."

"Ah! Finally I can live in peace at least until you come back. We hardly have two months left before we graduate. After which we'll get married and leave to London for our job. This is the only 'me-time' I've for me before I get knotted with you forever." Virat was teasing her.

She too teasingly snapped back, "Oh if that is the case, I'll never come back. I'll fall in love with some handsome guy there. I heard X city's men are very handsome. I'll marry someone there and live happily with him. Please don't think so high of yourself. I don't need you to accompany me."

Virat retorted, "Hey what if I'm not accompanying you? I'm sending someone on my behalf. He's going to take care of you and also report me back everything you did there." He lightly smacked her forehead lovingly.

Ta - da!

"Here." Virat held out the Mickey mouse backpack to her.

Overjoyed Maya was literally jumping in her seat like a kid. "Virat, we had seen this last week when we went shopping right. How did you know that I liked it? Virat thank you so much! I'm so happy!" She hugged it to her chest.

Seeing her this happy, his heart melted. "Come back soon. I'll miss you Maya. I'll keep waiting for you until you come back."

"It's just a one week trip Virat. I'll come back to you as soon as it's over. I love you"

Little did I know this Maya, I myself would've come with you instead. This is the last time. Once you are back, I'll never ever let you go away from me even for a second. The past few days have been h.e.l.l for me. Now that I've found this backpack, I feel even you must be somewhere here.

"Virat? Virat? What's wrong? Why aren't you saying anything?" The officers voice pulled back Virat to reality.

He replied back with voice full of hopes, "Sir didn't I say that she's alive? Here sir. This is her backpack. This indicates that she must be somewhere here. This is enough to show that she was here sir."

The officer said, "Hmm, you can open the bag and check."

Virat followed him and unzipped the bag. Since it was a waterproof bag, the contents of the bag were intact. It had Maya's Identification proof doc.u.ments, two pairs of clothes, her essentials and wallet.

Virat now confirmed."Yes sir. This is indeed the bag I had gifted her and the stuffs here too belong to her." He zipped back the bag and hugged it close to his chest just the way she had hugged it when he gifted it to her. Somehow that was comforting him.
