"Hey Robert."

I heard my name called and turned over unhurriedly. I was drained at the minute. My body may have been fine and in top form, but the mental strain of what had transpired was too much for me. It wasn't long ago that I had nearly half of the expedition team wiped out, which was a big enough blow.

The guild would struggle to recuperate there losses after what happened. Only that incident made me want to cry, but it wasn't over with that. After that when I had steeled myself to face 'The Demon' that was in town, a group of NPC's galloped past.

No one could identify who they were or what level they were. The aura they possessed was something none of us had felt before and it scared everyone. Not only were the elites in the guild terrified, I felt my own body shake as they went by.

They rushed into the town throwing us looks of derision and hate. It was no secret that the NPC's weren't friendly to us players most times. Thankfully they had just run by and not killed us on the spot. Even with the numbers we sported they would be the same as 'The Demon' in town, even one of them could possible take us down.

Once they had gone by I was too afraid to send rogues after them, to see where they went. If we annoyed them they could come back and annihilate us. Though I wasn't stupid, as they pa.s.sed I could see their raging auras and solemn atmosphere.

Putting 2 and 2 together it was easy to tell they would be going after the demon. A small spark ignited in my chest when I thought of that possibility. If there was some type of special NPC event we could profit off the outcome of them clas.h.i.+ng.

They were obviously hostile to each other. And most importantly if they killed that 'Demon', when they left they might not attack us. The demon was more cold hearted than them and would be more unpredictable, I had heard some of the reports from our downed teams.

And after an extended period of time the outcome was blatantly shown to us. After that group went into the city, only one of them made it out. And that person was booking it, I couldn't see terror in his eyes, but even then they couldn't deal with him. Five NPC's that instilled terror into our whole group couldn't deal with him.

I felt my shoulders slump as I thought over our options, I didn't think we could run from him if they came after us. And if he acted like the 'Black Knight' he would definitely come for us.

Some in the guild wanted to attack the NPC as he rode between us during his escape, but luckily I and some of the other higher ups had some brains, who would take that chance? Even if he was injured I wouldn't attack him.

Also I saw the way he looked at us as he rode by; there was a predatory look in his eyes that wanted us to try something. Just so he had a reason to kill us.

And that was that, the NPC ran with his tail stuck between his legs and we didn't have anywhere to go. The only 2 options were to fight or try and negotiate.

As I was lost in my thoughts Clyde came up to me and spoke.

"Yes?"

"One of our Rogues that was sent to find the daylight guild reported in."

I frowned.

"Didn't I say to recall everyone?"

Clyde put on a troubled face.

"I told him to maintain his position as he was close to finding their camp."

My frown deepened for a second as I thought about the conflicting orders from my friend. But I had put him in charge of intelligence operation and finding information on other guilds, he had the right to change some commands. He was very good at what he did and helped put many of our spies in other guilds.

"What's the report?"

Clyde fixed his troubled face before becoming serious again.

"Daylight just got wiped out."

*Clench*

I gripped my fist hard as I heard the news. It was obvious who had done it. The NPC's were ma.s.sacred and there was only the 'Demon' in town. He had found them and taken the daylight guild out already. He would be coming our way in no time.

Clyde said nothing as my mind raced a mile a minute. I thought our chances were low to begin with to fight him, but it was even worse if he had, in only a few minutes since the NPC's were destroyed, done away with Daylight.

After a while of strenuous thinking I finally loosened my grip and let out a defeated sigh.

We couldn't run, we couldn't fight. There was only one option left at this point, beg for our lives. Being set back by all our main forces being killed could cripple us. Making up my mind I gave my orders to my close friend and second in command.

He nodded seriously and heard out my reasoning. He agreed that we couldn't fight him. Just as he was about to walk away and inform everyone to act non-aggressively when they arrived, he turned back and asked a very important question.

"What are we going to do with the Natives?"

My heart almost stopped as I heard the question. They had completely slipped my mind as all the bad occurrences happened. I felt a small sweat on my forehead as I thought about what would happen if the Demon, who was a native himself, saw us using them for physical labor. Not to mention they were kids!

I had never actually liked the fact we were using them, but we were so low on funds. I felt like I should have slapped my past self. I hadn't paid them much attention and they could have possible been treated badly by some of the guild members.

If that 'Demon' saw them.

"f.u.c.k."

I let my anger out as I realized how much s.h.i.+t we are in right now.

"Should we kill them and get rid of the evidence?"

Clyde raised a very disturbing point. Even though they were pieces of code run by an AI, they acted so much like children that I couldn't imagine myself actually killing them. Though I had used them for physical labor, what a hypocrite I am.

The thought actually crossed my mind for a second, but in the end I shook my head. There was no guarantee that if we did that they wouldn't find out. And by that point it would make it even worse. We couldn't take that chance.

The best thing to do is hide them and keep them out of sight. As long as they don't look like they are being used as slaves, and we swap out their gear, he shouldn't look into it too much.

A quick idea pa.s.sed through my head as I almost patted myself on the back for the quick thinking, something truly bad could have happened.

"No don't kill them. Grab some of the spare gear and dress them up. Surround them with our regular members so they don't stand out and keep them out of sight if possible."

My voice was very serious as I talked to Clyde. He seemed to get what I was going for and nodded before moving off. I soon heard him screaming orders to the elites. I prayed that this person wasn't as bad as I though, it would be best if he was a sensible guy and didn't slaughter for no reason.

*Sigh*

I let out a sigh as I felt myself seemingly grow older; the stress was starting to get to me. A single thought popped into my head as I stared at the town waiting for him to arrive.

Have I been doing this for too long?
