"Argh!!!"

I watched as fire blew across a bandit's face he screamed in pain as he tumbled to the ground. He continued to thrash about as he tried to put out the flames, but the group in front of him would give him no such chance.

"Now!"

Erica screamed out as she dashed forwards, the other kids followed suit as they rushed ahead and surrounded their pitiful prey. And then the fight was over quickly. They unsheathed their blades and plunged them in any spot they could find.

Blood splashed on to their clothes as they continued to stab him over and over again, even though he was already dead. A small frown came to my lips.

"Enough!"

Ella who was watching next to me shouted out and they all quickly stopped. This was the last bandit out of the group we had run into. I sent a small glance towards Hunter who was seated on his cart a few meters away.

His complexion was a little pale as he watched the scene unfold. It had been a week since we met up. Hunter had been heading down south towards the dungeon we were looking for. His merchant guild had quite a few people that pa.s.sed through here after they had been transferred over.

His guild had sent many a merchant to find out the general location and map of the strange new world they found themselves on. The guild I was talking about was one set up by players. Unlike the omnipotent Merchant Guild that would enslave you for breach of contract, this one was more reasonable.

They charged their members a standard fee for protection while traveling, if they wanted it, maps of areas already explored by other merchants in the guild could be accessed, plus a lot of other perks.

Hunter himself came from the east. He had traveled for 2 months before he found us. Hunter was heading to the dungeon to make a killing. A merchant's bread and b.u.t.ter for profit was to set up outside or inside a dungeon, and sell potions and other necessities.

The merchant that had charted this area from his guild had left just recently and he wanted a piece of the pie.

And because of those reasons he had offered me a job. He wanted protection to the closet town that was just before the dungeon. For our troubles he would pay us in EP and we would get the exp the bandits dropped, I could even sell all the gear I got from their drops.

It was a win, win, win.

Of course I kept up my guard even till this day about him, just in case. What was truly vexing was the amount of bandits. They usually came in groups of 3-5, they roamed endlessly on the main roads and had even attack us at night once. They had spotted the fire we started to cook a meal.

They were easy to deal with but we had run into many groups. Not just them we had also run into many a different creature. The forest wasn't just filled with prowlers, hunters and wolves, no. New animals I had never seen before started to appear. Bugs that had once been small enough to squash were now the size of my legs.

Some of them sent s.h.i.+vers down my spine just looking at, but they were still easy to kill. None were over level 25. I had seen rabbits, horses and even sheep that all wanted to take pieces out of us. Hunter gave me some general information about all the new beast information that wasn't listed on my a.n.a.lyze screen and then some.

But I was so thankful I hadn't run into any ants. The way Hunter described the mutant ants made my skin crawl. Where there was one, there would be a few hundred. The best advice you could get when dealing with them was one word, run.

If you so much as kill one and get marked, you're a dead man. The story reminded me of what happened when I first ran into that wolf pack. And the idea of something even more ferocious with a hard, near impenetrable armour scared me silly.

But I was getting off track. After we wiped out the first few bandit groups that came after us, we decided it was better for the kids to get experience. We would hold up all but one and let them loose. A 1 on 5 fight wasn't fair and they knew it. Their gang up tactics and then team work had increase over time, enough that they could now take 3 of them on at once.

And this battle was the first time we didn't actually help them. Erica had become the leader of the group showing a savvy for leading potential. Spetz who was the oldest tried to do the same thing but the hierarchy of demons was not a trivial thing.

Erica's words were like law to those she had turned. She took command and held onto it tight. I think some of Ella's berserk skill lingered though, as at times like this they did go too far.

Even if it was the last person they had just taken out, they had wasted effort and time by repeatedly stabbing the person after he died. Not to mention the mentality they must have to do such a thing. In the back of my head I thought of how old they were.

s.h.i.+t Erica was just 8 years old.

I shook my head as I moved back to the cart and sat next to Hunter. Ella moved forwards and started to berate the kids about what they had done wrong. She took their teaching very serious. After scolding them for a while, and then patting them on the head in a carrot and stick kind of manner, they mounted the cart and we set off.

I had been talking to Hunter quite often of late. I wanted to learn about the dungeon that we were coming up to. He didn't have all the information, but his a.s.sociate said that the dungeon was located in the middle of a large plain area, 3 factions or towns surrounded it.

They didn't seem to be at war with each other and got along just fine. We should reach the town in another 2 days with the way we were tracking. Looking at a map and actually traveling were 2 different things. After I looked at the map with dungeons on it, I had thought it would be a short trip. But it had already been nearly 2 weeks and we were just getting close.

As I was making idle chatter and thinking to myself, Hunter suddenly stopped and looked up. I followed his line of sight and saw that the trees around us were thinning. Over the tops of the trees I could see the tip of a mountain start to appear.

It wasn't long before the trees got thinner and thinner and I could see a huge mountain. We were still in the forest but I could make out the general scenery.

A huge black mountain stood in the middle of a wide plane. 3 small specks that I figured were the towns surrounding it.

"Ahh so the dungeon is inside the mountain?"

The information said the dungeon was in the middle of the plain area, so it had to be there.

"Or is the mountain the dungeon?"

Hunter's voice sounded from next to me and my mind stalled. He did have a point.

My eyes widened at the thought and I started to speculate.
