There was no security doors and change in layout; it was a normal hospital layout. I would be able to navigate the area quicker now.
Clearing out the first reception we ran into 4 zombies, easily killing them. Ella started to eat the latest one we killed, while I started to look at the globe it had dropped. It was then as we rested that I heard a noise down the hallway; something had broken a piece of gla.s.s.
*Creesh*
My head snapped around to the noise and I prepared myself to face another zombie. I froze as I was half raised.
It was a survivor!
It was a guy that looked like he was in his 30's. He was heavily leaning on one of his legs and had a haggard face. He looked roughed up in his get up and his gear was torn in places, but that didn't matter.
I finally found another person!
I was ecstatic as I straightened myself and started to walk over to him. He had a grim look in his eyes as his focus went past me and settled on Ella.
c.r.a.p.
I had completely forgotten about Ella and quickly turned back to look at her, she had noticed the new arrival and had stopped eating the zombie. Her face was smeared with blood and when she looked at the new arrival, she stared at him like a delicacy, droll falling from her open mouth.
I turned back to look at the survivor and saw his eyes flash. I felt like something was trying to affect me and through my altered spirit vision, I could see a light flash past me and then head over to Ella. He frowned after this happened and pulled out a blade. It looked like a sharp sword.
He must have just used a.n.a.lyze on us, it wasn't a good sign him pulling his weapon. I had better explain what's going on quick or this could get messy. Because he used a.n.a.lyze on me, I decided to quickly use it on him. Better safe than sorry.
Name: Raphael Brooks
Race: Human
s.e.x: Male
Age: 33
Level: 5
I frowned, it didn't give me much information but… turning to look back at Ella for a second, it would give him enough information about Ella not being human. Even without the obvious eating right in front of him, just a.n.a.lyze would tell a person she isn't human.
This isn't good, I hadn't thought about this yet, but Ella not being human will become a huge problem. I don't think many people would like to have an infected around them, in any form.
I had thought that Ella could just blend in, maybe looking a bit special. But it wouldn't have been hard to pa.s.s her off as human.
Now with most people having the a.n.a.lyze skill I can't do that anymore. This will be a major problem in the future.
I turned back to Raphael and raised my hand up towards him. He had his blade drawn out and had blood shot eyes as he stared at Ella.
"Hey wait!"
I shouted out to him to draw his attention. As his stare finally s.h.i.+fted to me, his face warped into one of disgust. He started to walk towards us disregarding my words.
"I said stop there for a second!"
He didn't stop his steps as he limped over to me, his face one of anger. Once he reached where I was standing he finally stopped and sent me a death glare. I didn't want to start a fight so I continued to talk to him.
"Ok, so you're finally ready to talk?"
Well this could have gone a lot worse.
Just as I was thinking this and let my mind wander for a second, a strong force slammed into my shoulder.
"Father!"
Ella shouted out as I was lifted up and sent flying towards the right. He had attacked me!
There was no deep gash or wound, as I was wearing the combat gear, and even my own sword couldn't cut through it. But he must have put a lot of his points into strength, as the force behind the blow was immense.
I banged my head as I crashed in to the wall and he finally talked.
"You're that things father!?"
He shouted it out in a rage filled tone, as a sense of bitterness was also projected. He didn't look remorseful as he had just attacked me. He had actually moved his line of sight to Ella and was brandis.h.i.+ng his sword.
Ella had sprung up as I was thrown towards the wall and was making her way over. She brandished her blade and even growled as she made her way closer to Him.
"You d.a.m.n meal!"
Raph gritted his teeth at the comment, his rage reaching even higher.
"You d.a.m.n things can even talk!"
He started to swing his blade at Ella, he wasn't fast though and she easily dodged out of the way. Before she could counter attack I screamed out to her.
"No stop Ella. Don't attack him!"
She sent her gaze over to me and frowned in disappointment and begrudgingly stopped her own swing. If I had been any slower she might have actually killed him. I needed to stop this before something bad happened.
He was the first survivor I had met so I didn't want to fight him.
Disregarding the fact that Ella didn't just kill him, Raph continued to swing his sword at her as he shouted out.
"So we're just meals to you!!"
"Die, Die!"
He almost seemed hysterical as he threw his whole strength into killing Ella.
"Ella back off! I'll deal with him."
Finally getting back up after being thrown, I rushed back up to Raph and tried to restrain him. Ella backed off but continued to stare warily at Raph.
I grappled him from the back and tried to restrain his arms.
"It's not what you think."
I tried to talk to him as I grabbed on, but he thrashed about and tried to shake me off. His strength was higher than mine and he was able to force me back. I even tripped over and fell on my back from the force.
He finally stopped staring daggers at Ella and turned towards me. Fire was gus.h.i.+ng from his eyes as he stared down at me.
"And you! You're no better!!"
He raised his sword and cleaved down towards me. I quickly rolled out of the way and dodged the blow. I rolled a few more times before springing to my feet.
"I don't want to fight you!"
I pulled out my blade and backed off from Raph. He didn't listen as he continued to come towards me.
"How could you protect one of these, things!"
"How could you help one!!"
"How could you let it eat right in front of you!!!"
I parried his blows as he screamed at me.
As he started running out energy his blows came slower and slower. His words rang in my ear as I turned to look at Ella in my respite.
Why did I protect her?
The thought had appeared a few times when I had first picked her up… but after what happened with the wolves I had fully accepted Ella as my Sister. She had taken care of me, tried her best for me. She gave her all, so that I could survive.
I turned back to look at Raph as my emotions were turbulent. I voiced out in a strong voice, as if to confirm to him and myself.
"She is my sister!"
"And I will protect her!"
A blue box appeared in my face as I voiced my words. I think I even heard a happy giggle from where Ella was standing.

My bond with Ella strengthened and her feelings of happiness flowed through me, as the person in front of me started to Cackle. His voice was deranged as he started to laugh without stop, as tears fell down his eyes.
"Your Sister!
"YOUR SISTER!!!"
His energy seemed to return as he continued to attack me, his attacks even stronger than before. I was starting to have trouble parrying his blows now, his strength was too strong.
"They deserve death!!!"
His ridicule of my determination and his screams about killing Ella were starting to get on my nerves, so I started actually trying to attack him instead of parrying.
"She's a child!!!"
His laughs grew loader as I dodged his attacks and started to attack his gear. It wasn't as good as mine.
"A child!"
"HAHAHA?!?!?!"
"A CHILD!"
"They aren't children!!! They are monsters!"
He backed off from me and then pointed a trembling finger at Ella.
"She is a monster, an abomination that only know how to eat people!!!"
His voice started to crack from the strenuous screaming and a sense of feebleness finally entered his voice.
"It is these d.a.m.n things that ate my son and killed my wife! And you think of it as another human being!!"
His eyes started to water even more as he started his attacks on me again. He regained his vigor as he started to shout.
"You're insane you d.a.m.n insane b.a.s.t.a.r.d!"
I faltered at his words. He had his family killed by an infected. No wonder he hates Ella so much. I could imagine the pain of losing his family, but I couldn't let him hurt Ella!
I parried another of his attacks, before using my leg to trip his bad leg. He fell hard to the ground and I brandished my blade above his face. I stood over him and pointed the end at his throat. The blade quivered in my hand as I held it, I don't want to hurt him.
"I don't want to hurt you."
He tried to struggle so I moved my blade to his shoulder and stuck it in.
"Argh!"
He screamed in pain at my actions and finally stopped moving for a second. He clasped his shoulder after I pulled it out and then stared up at me. His eyes were spitting fire and tried to consume me in their anger.
"Please, I don't want to hurt you"
He looked at me and then turned his attention to Ella, who was still at the side. His hatred intensified as he turned to Ella and then he turned back to me. I was pleading him with my eyes. I didn't want to hurt him.
I don't want to kill him. I just want to talk to him, anyone.
"Please."
He looked at my trembling hand and my pleading eyes and then spat a mouthful of blood to the side.
"You d.a.m.n monster!"
He said the words with so much contempt I could hear the spite and hatred he had for me. I had never had someone hate me this much. His negative emotions almost felt corporeal as they tried to kill me with a gaze.
I could only squeeze out one word as he stared daggers at me.
"Please."
In my stunned stupor I didn't realize he had raised his own sword and struck it into a small unprotected gap between my vest and pants. A stabbing pain shot out from the wound and I reflexively stabbed down my own sword into his throat.
My pain numbed as I watched his eyes filled with anger stare right into my soul. It didn't leave until the light in his eyes disappeared. His hand dropped down and the sword stuck in me came out. Blood flowed down; as I watched his resentful eyes continue to stare at me. He was hateful even in his death.
My eyes started to water as I killed a human being. I had killed infected before and hadn't thought much about it. They were dead already; I had disa.s.sociated myself with them, distanced myself. But Raphael was different, he was alive, he was a person.
I could only continue to stare down at him, as my last pieces of humanity were slipping away.
Why!
"WHY!!"
I just needed to explain!
We could have just talked!
Why did it have to come to this?!
My eyes continued to water as Ella approached me; she was very timid at this point and seemed to feel the gravity of the situation. She held her hand near my wound and had a sad face when she looked at it.
The blood flow started to stop as she placed her hand and I could even feel it disappearing. I finally turned to look at her as I gave her a hug.
I needed some human contact at this point, well as close to human as I could get.
Hugging her for a while I finally released my grip and she gave me a small smile. I tried to smile back, but found my face just couldn't do it right now. I don't know when I would be able to smile again.
She looked away from me and stared at Raphael. She shook her head and then looked back at me.
"A stupid meal!"
I looked at her for a second before looking down again.
Staring into his eyes, I then turned to look at the globe on the ground and bent to pick it up, and let out a small voice.
My crying had stopped.
"Yes, a stupid meal"
